More Than Expected

Spencer looked up from his plate every few minutes, scanning the restaurant. Ryan would involuntarily look around with his friend, not necessarily knowing who they were searching for. He turned back and smirked at Spencer.

"Expecting someone?" Spencer looked back and glared at Ryan. The reason for this lunch was because Spencer believed it would be the only place his soulmate could possibly be.

"Oh, shut up." Ryan shook his head with a chuckle.

"What do you think she'll be like?" Ryan asked in a playful tone.

"HE will be handsome and tall. Successful obviously," Spencer responded matter-of-factly. Ryan bit his lip to suppress a laugh as Spencer went off talking about his dream man. "Well dressed, a gentleman. He'll have bright green eyes and short black hair. And tall with a nice body."

Ryan snorted as Spencer dozed off with the thought of his soulmate. Spencer turned back to Ryan and huffed with annoyance. He had high expectations for his soulmate, which didn't surprise Ryan.

Spencer was the son of the wealthiest business owner in the country. His parents had spoiled him rotten. Ryan grew up in the same life style, but was more humble with his wealth. As annoying as Spencer's neediness was sometimes, it didn't stop the two from being friends since they were in diapers.

"What if he's not anything like that?" Ryan continued teasing. Spencer stared with a small frown on his face. He didn't like the thought of being denied what he wanted and felt he deserved.

"Why would you say that?"

"I'm just saying he could be a short bald homeless man just as easily as he could be your dream man." Spencer grimaced at the thought and shook his head.

"That's not gonna happen." Ryan shrugged.

"You don't know and you won't for another," Ryan leaned over the table and looked at Spencer's timer, "minute and a half." Spencer looked around, hoping he'll spot his soulmate before his timer ran out.

"Don't be disappointed if a girl comes to you," Ryan grinned.

"Very funny, Ry." Ryan shrugged playfully again. Spencer's frown grew. He looked down at his wrist and back to Ryan.

"He's going to be perfect and I'm gonna prove it." He pushed away from the table and began walking off. He wasn't quite sure where he was heading, but he just kept walking in one direction. His eyes moved from one man to the next.

He looked down as it counted down from five. Before he had a chance to look up, another person crashed into them causing them both to fall to the floor. The tray in the other's hands fell over them, covering them in leftover food and drinks.

Apologized began spilling from the stranger's mouth. Spencer was looking down at his now strained close in anger. As he looked up to yell at the other, everything stopped.

All the anger instantly disappeared. He didn't think a pair of brown eyes could be so mesmerizing. The man's brown hair was longer than Spencer would have liked, but he still wanted to reach out and feel how soft it was. His eyes traveled down the man's waiter uniformed down to see the numbers on his wrist matching his own.

"I'm so sorry, sir. I'll get some napkins to clean you up. A-and I'll pay for your drying cleaning just please don't tell my manager. I really need this job," the waiter pleaded, hands folded together.

Spencer's eyes moved up, smiling at the uniformed bow tie. As the boy kept quietly begging, Spencer took the chance to admire the sweetness of his voice. Even filled with panic, his voice was still smooth and full.

"Spencer," he cut the waiter off. The boy's eyes widened in confusion.

"W-what?"

"My name is Spencer," he repeated his eyes moving over the line of zeros on his wrist. The man's eyes dashed down to the numbers. When he looked back up, a smile crept over his face as the tension left his body. Spencer could tell he'd been too busy to focus on his low count.

"Jon," Spencer's soulmate breathed out.

"Jon," Spencer repeated with a bigger smile. He told Ryan he'd prove it. Jon didn't meet any of the requirements of his visionary soulmate, but he knew he just found the perfect man.
