In H&H corporation, Trevor was pushing a cart of mails for the employees. He still felt like an idiot for lying in the hospital. It was a stupid thing to do and he hate himself for it. So from that, he gave Erika her space that she wanted. They hadn't seen each other for days since the check-up.
He looked back at the past when he was about to confess his feelings to the girl of his dreams at a school dance. He was excited and nervous at the same time. His buddy, Kyle used to urge him to do it.
Once that time came, Trevor fixed his suit and his hair. After that, he gathered his courage as he entered the dance hall. However, that was when he saw Erika and Shay slow dancing together, then began pulling in for a kiss.
He remembered the pain he felt. It was like someone punched him in the chest, watching her in another guy's arm and locking lips with him. All throughout, he had to endure that they a couple since then.
So he shook that memory off his head as the poor guy strolled the cart through the hallway, he bumped into his boss, who was Mikey's father. "Good morning, Mr. Heinus," he greeted politely.
"Morning, Trevor, how are you?" the man replied.
"I'm good. Excuse me."
"Hold on a second. I've been meaning to see you to give you this." Mr. Heinus handed him a brochure.
"What's this?" Trevor asked as he began looking at the pamphlet and reading the front page. "Acres University?"
"It's a school in England. I heard from your mother that you are taking business course and I think that school might interest you."
The young man observed each page and was impressed by the look of the campus until he saw the tuition fee. "That's a lot of zeroes in a Euro," he choked. "Looks cool, but it's expensive."
"Which is why I will be the one paying it and in return, you work for my company," Mr. Heinus told him.
Trevor became stunned from the offer he was given. "I can't accept this. Besides, I'm going to RevU."
"Your mother also mentioned that you are planning to take MBA program. Acres University has that and it's the best school to take it. Listen, you're hardworking and a smart young man, and I want someone like you working in my company, so think about it."
"Okay, I will. Thanks, Mr. Heinus."
"No problem. I better get back to my office."
As great as it was to study in a top school abroad, it was still a big decision to make. Although after what he did few days ago, perhaps leaving wouldn't be such a bad idea.
Once work was over, the poor guy went to the parking outside to throw some trash before going home. Afterwards, he headed to his car. All of a sudden, he heard a whimpering noise that caught his attention.
Trevor shrugged it off at first, and was about to walk away. However, he heard it again, and it was getting louder so he decided to search where it was coming from.
It was coming from the bushes. As Trevor got closer towards the sound that was when he knew that he was getting warmer by the second. He searched through the thick shrubs, and spotted a closed box.
It was not taped so he opened it. "Oh, my God," he reacted. "What are you doing here? Poor guy, you must be lost." Then he reached to it, and picked it up.
----
"NO FREAKING WAY!! I can't believe Trevor did that," Chris reacted when Erika told her what happened via video call then turned to her boyfriend, Kyle, since he was next to her. "Do you know about this?"
"Yeah, he called me before class, and the part that he likes you, I always knew about that," Kyle said.
"What?!" Chris exclaimed in shock.
"You knew?" Erika reacted the same way.
"YOU KNEW AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN TELL ME!?" Chris pinched her boyfriend's ear like a kid.
"Ow! ow! ow!" Kyle whined then pushed his girlfriend's hand away. "I didn't think it mattered anymore once Erika and Shay were together."
"Ugh... understandable."
"And I also didn't think he'll ever tell you."
"Alright, alright, I believe you," Chris replied.
"Listen, I'm sorry that didn't tell you guys sooner. Trevor is my bro since grade school. He needs me."
"You know, E, he did work so hard for you, and he's willing to take care of you and your baby boy. You don't see that everyday from a guy."
"Ahem." Kyle frowned from what his girlfriend said.
"And you are one of them,"Chris stammered.
"Maybe, I was over-reacting," Erika sighed as she looked back at the event.
"No, no, you can feel what you feel. We just think that... He didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"I suppose."
However, Kyle peered to his girlfriend then to Erika. Seeing their expression that made him feel conflicted as to what he was going to do next. "Okay. There's something you guys need to know," he exasperated.
The girls were looking at him in a weird way. "What do you mean?" Chris asked him.
"I don't know if I should tell you this."
"Babe, you're kinda scaring us here. Just tell us."
"Trevor had a baby," Kyle revealed hesitantly.
"He has a what?!" Erika gasped in disbelief.
"You think you know a person," Chris muttered to herself. "How come I'm hearing this now?"
"Because I promised Trevor not to tell anyone," Kyle said. "Not even you."
"Okay... So how did it happen...?"
"Remember he used to date Jillian during junior year?"
Erika looked back at the said person. "Yeah."
"Yup," The guy confirmed.
"Wait. Is that why she was gone in the middle of the school year?" Erika asked.
"Yup, her parents found out and they had to call Trevor's parents. It was hell," Kyle expressed bluntly. "She was not allowed to get rid of it."
The young mother began to feel bad as she listened. "So what happenend? Where's the baby now?"
"Jillian lost the baby."
The girls were horrified. "How?" His girlfriend gulped.
"I don't know. Trevor never told me, he doesn't actually want to talk about it after that," Kyle added.
"Oh, my God," Erika mumbled as she processed this piece of information.
"I remember he was pretty devastated about it. I think he was ready to take the responsibility. Maybe he sees you and your kid like some kind of do over or something."
The soon-to-be teen mother felt this guilt, and covered her face with her hands. "What did I do?" she moaned.
"Hey, you didn't know," Chris told her best friend.
"Still... I hurt him. Had I known that he went through that..."
"It wouldn't make a difference."
"Yeah, E," Kyle agreed to his girlfriend. "I didn't tell you this to justify what Trevor did. He over step his bounderies, and he knew that."
"He's right, it's best that you guys don't see each other for a while."
Later, after that eye-opening video conversation. Erika proccessed the information that Kyle told her. She suddenly recalled there were few times that Trevor slipped, and just played it off that it was nothing.
Erika also looked back at the times how Trevor was there for her when she needed him. That was when she realized that not only he did that because he had feelings for her, or that he felt bad that she was assaulted his home, but he was the only person that understood her.
She reached to her bag and took the ultrasound picture then looked at it, "I can't wait to see and have you in my arms," she said to him after that, began contemplating about earlier. "And so does Trevor. Maybe, I was too hard on him. Someday, I hope you'll find good friend like him. Someone who can rely on and someone you can trust. And when you have that, don't ever let go of them."
The next day, the teenage girl decided to text him to check up on him, thinking that the bounderies she set crushed Trevor. So she approached this as soft as she could.
'Hey, how are you?' She typed the message in her phone.
Afterwards, she waited. However, about an hour with no response, Erika was not worried knowing that Trevor must be busy from his job that she waited, thinking that he would see her message in the evening.
Though even when night time came, there was still no answer from him, so she sent another message.
'Hey Trevor, are you ok?'
Nothing.
'Can we talk? Pls. Let's meet somewhere.'
Still nothing.
More days passed, that Erika had not been seeing him, and sent loads of messages that had no response. The teenage girl figured that Trevor was avoiding her after what happened. That made her even more upset, and at the same time, she understood why he did that.
Hours later, her mother was watching K-drama in the living room, but it was interrupted when her daughter came huffing in. "Trevor hasn't answer any of my texts," Erika answered.
"He will," Celine said while her eyes was on the show.
"Mom, it's been a week. He's totally ignoring me."
"He'll come around. I still can't fathom what you told me about him."
"Me too."
"It does make sense why he feels like he wants to be involved. I feel sorry for the poor boy. Nothing is more devasting than losing a child."
"I feel bad for being so hard on him."
"Don't blame yourself for that." The mother reluctantly turn off the television to talk to her daughter. "Jang Dong-gun can wait. Well, I think he's not ready to face you yet."
"But I'm the one who's reaching out to him. If he answer any of my messages, then we'd at least talk it out," Erika grunted.
"Honey, it's not that simple. He feels... Rejected, embarrassed, heartbroken, hurt..."
"I get the point. So, what should I do?"
Celine shrugged. "Wait for him to reply."
The teenager gazed at her mother in a weird way. "Seriously?"
"As long as you don't give up. Guys like him doesn't just fall out of the sky."
"What's that suppose to mean? We're just friends."
"I'm aware of that, Honey," her mother sighed. "But, I'll be honest with you. I like Trevor. He's decent, sincere, and he seems like the kind of guy who's willing to give his all for you. And to be really honest with you, I like him better than Duke."
"I didn't know you feel that way about Shay."
"Don't get me wrong. Duke is great, but I can't imagine him doing the same things as Trevor is doing for you. Moreover, knowing what happened to you, it must've killed him inside yet he stayed by your side. Not a lot of guys could do what he does."
Erika contemplated her mother's words. "Yeah..." she uttered. "I guess, you're right."
"Honey, I'm not saying you should pursue him or anything. That depends on you and how you feel about him. All I'm saying is, don't let go off friends like Trevor," Celine advised.
"I really blew it, didn't I?"
"Not exactly, but it doesn't mean it's too late to fix it."
"I am going to fix it. Trevor has been there for me. I don't want to throw our friendship away from that one incident. If he's not going to reply to me til tomorrow, then I should go find him and talk to him face-to-face." After that, Erika gave her mother a hug. "Thanks, Mom."
"No problem, Honey. Now go to bed so that you and your baby can rest well."
