Chapter 15 : Why Do All This?

It was night time in L.A and there was a presscon for the new member in another super league team, Undominate United, which Mikey was one of the new members. There were reporters and press asking the team some questions with their coach.

The Super Tundra was present as well, especially Shay along with Jio who was thrilled to see his old friend and soccer team from high school.

"Mikey Heinus, our new striker, have shown great talent on the field and that is why I know he is an excellent addition to our team," their coach introduced to the press.

Mikey could see Shay somewhere at back, waving at him. He didn't seem too happy to see him in his moment of the spotlight.

"That's it no further questions. Let's give it up to the Undominate United," the host said and the crowd applauded.

The rest of the night was the party. The other new members were dancing while Mikey was at the bar drinking. "Mikey!" Shay greeted, he went to him with Jio.

"Oh! hey, Shay, Jio," Mikey greeted his two old classmates.

"Congrats! you got in the Undominate United. I guess we will be competing each other in the field."

"Yeah, you better watch out."

"Yeah... what are you doing here alone?" Jio asked. "Aren't you gonna party? One of the best part of being a famous soccer player is going to the coolest parties."

"I'm just not feeling it."

Shay looked at Mikey in a strange way, "What's wrong? It's not like you not to party especially today," he questioned.

Mikey looked at Shay blankly with a remorseless stare of what he did to his ex-girlfriend. The reason why Erika was distant to Shay, "It's my Dad," he lied, pretending to act stress about his father. "He had this talk about cutting me off before we came here. Way to kill the mood, right?"

"I still butt heads with my dad," Shay said bluntly. "That's why I asked Jio to come with me to keep me sane."

"Yeah, don't let that ruin your night. Besides, we can hangout like we did back in high school," Jio added. "It's best to just stick together."

"Thanks, guys," Mikey gave them this crooked smile.

"Come on, this is your night. Let's party," Jio urged while Mikey felt better from what they said and possibly from his lies that he told to them as they started to enjoy the night.

Back in Haymoore, the soon-to-be mother had another check up but there was a problem no one could accompany her there because her mother was still in the office, "Can't dad take me to the clinic?" she asked through the phone.

"I called him. He said that he had to go out of town," Celine said. "I'm sorry, Sweetie, my client arrived late."

"It's okay, Mom. I'll call you later."

"Okay, honey. Love you."

The doorbell rang and Erika answered the door, "Trevor?" she said in a suprising tone.

"Hi! I got something for you." The young man held a small fruit basket and then, he noticed her face. "Sorry, is this a bad time?"

"Sort of. Come in. I'm kinda in a situation right now"

"What kind of situation?" Trevor entered and placed the basket on the coffee table.

"I was suppose to go for my monthly check-up today, but my mom is too busy for work. Anyway, I'll just have to call my doctor to reschedule."

"I can drive you there," he offered.

Erika looked at him in a weird way. "Huh?"

"If you want?"

"Are you sure?" Erika assured him. "You don't have to."

"It's cool, I don't have work today anyway. Come on, we can get dumplings rightafter."

"Oh, alright. I'll just go change, and let my Mom know first."

Later, The two were in the clinic, they were in the waiting area, "Thanks for driving me here me," she said to him. "But you don't have to be here."

"It's no problem. Anything for you and your baby," Trevor assured her.

"Aren't you too young to be pregnant?" a man called out to them.

Trevor was about to stand up to pounce him off. "Trev, don't," Erika begged him as she held his arm to stop him.

"You know, kids, there's this thing called protection."

"You need protection from your face before I put my fist in it," Trevor snarled at him.

"Trevor!" Erika groaned at him while the man shook his head and laugh as he walked away.

"That guy can't talk you that way."

"What are you gonna do? Pound him? Here? In the hospital?"

"Excuse me, is everything okay here?" The nurse came to them and the two stopped arguing.

"Uhmm... yeah," Erika stammered and gave this look at Trevor to play-along and behave.

"Alright, the doctor is ready to see you now."

"I'll be right here," Trevor said to her as he sat back down the bench.

"Oh! don't you want to be with her inside?" the nurse asked him.

"Should I?"

"You are the father, aren't you?" the nurse questioned.

Erika was about to say no until,"Yes," Trevor answered out of panic. "I... Am... The father."

The teen mother was shocked, but didn't say anything because everything was happening so fast that she couldn't tell the nurse that it was not true.

"Oh! in that case, you can come with her," the nurse said.

Inside, it was an awkward moment for the both of them. Trevor was dreading that he was in there and Erika was also wishing for him to just get out of the room. "It's nice to finally meet the father," the doctor said to him and shook his hand.

"Yeah..." Trevor stammered while Erika decided to kept quiet.

"Let us begin." The doctor was going to start the ultrasound and Erika's tummy was exposed so Trevor looked away by puting his hand in his head pretending to scratch it. "The baby is developing beautifully, look at that."

"It looks amazing," Erika voiced seeing her baby was now formed and looked like a baby.

"Look, Daddy, it's your baby. Don't you want to see him?" the doctor told.

"Uhm... sure," Trevor had to play his part so he leered by dodging to not see Erika's baby bump. He looked the screen and saw what Erika saw. The baby inside her. Trevor was awestruck that there was a little being inside of her. "Oh, my God, he looks awesome."

"Do you want to know the gender?" the doctor asked.

"Yeah!" Trevor blurted because he was just as thrilled. However, he realized that he crossed the line when he saw Erika looking at him in a strange way. "If... she wants it."

The teen mom shook her head then turned to the doctor, "Yes, I do," she answered.

"Alright, you will be having... a boy," the doctor revealed.

The two were over-the-moon. "YES!" Trevor exclaimed. He realized that he was doing it again when he glanced over to Erika who got from being very happy to feeling uncomfortable. "I mean... That's awesome. A healthy baby boy."

"That's right, I can see that this baby is looking good. You two are doing a great job taking care of him. Keep it up."

When they got out of the doctor's office and went straigh to the parking lot, Trevor got an ultrasound too and couldn't stop staring at it, "Wow, so this is what an ultrasound looks like. It's so cool," he admired. "Look I think it's already giving me a fistbump already."

"Yup." Erika just plastered a smile in her face from his reaction.

"Something wrong?"

"Trevor, why did you do that? why did you say that you're the father?"

"I'm sorry, I panicked," Trevor apologized. "I wasn't thinking and they're not gonna know that I lied."

"That still doesn't make it right."

"I know but, I want to be part of his life."

Erika looked at him in a strange way. "Trevor, I know you feel bad and all that it happened in your house, but that doesn't mean you have to be part of this..."

"I don't just feel bad," Trevor interrupted her. "I hate that it happened to you, and I hate that I wasn't there to stop it. I hate myself that I let this happen to the person I... like."

"What?"

"Erika... I like you... a lot. I always had feelings for you eversince eight grade. That's why I'm willing to do everything for you and your baby."

The teenage girl was frozen in shock to hear his confession. "Trevor... I'm sorry, but I don't..."

"I know, but I just have to tell you. I just want you to know that you're important to me. You and your baby. I'm willing to be his father or father figure if I have to."

Erika decided to just stop the conversation once and for all. "Just... drive me home," she responded.

Trevor just felt so stupid that he screw up this time. "Sure."

On their way to her house, it was a very quiet car ride. The poor guy wanted to say something, but he did not want to make it worse than it already was while his crush just sat there looking away from him.

Eventually, they arrived in Row's house, "Thanks for... today," Erika said politely.

"Listen. I am so sorry, I didn't mean to freak you out today," Trevor apologized once more.

The teenager turned to him before getting out of his car. "Trev... I think... It's best that you give stay away."

Trevor could feel his heart being squashed yet put on a brave face. "Alright. No problem," he stammered. After that, he watched his crush get out of the vehicle, and quickly went inside her house, wanting to get away from him.

Later that night, Erika was in the living room in deep thoughts as she stared at the ultrasound that she was going to have a baby boy and also Trevor's confession towards her.

It was a lot to process. It even made her think if whether or not she made the right decision to ask him to stay away from her. She felt that she might be hasty to do that to him.

A minute after, Celine arrived, "Hi! Sweetie," she chimed.

"Hi! Mom," Erika said back.

"So tell me, how's the check up? Is the baby alright?"

"Yes, the baby is fine, and by the way, it's a boy."

"What!?" Celine reacted then hugged her daughter. "Oh, Sweetie, that's incredible."

"I know, I'm gonna have a son," Erika beamed.

"So I guess, we'll be shopping for boy clothes, and blue beddings for the crib. This is so exciting."

"Yup."

"Wow, it's a good thing Trevor came over and gave you a ride to the hospital. He is so sweet."

That was when Erika's smile slowly vanished after mentioning his name. "Yeah... He is."

"I bet he was thrilled too," Celine added.

"He was."

Her mother could sense her tone that something was troubling, "Something wrong?"

"You could say that," Erika mumbled as she looked down.

"Ookay, did you two fight, or something?"

"Yeah, I got mad at him for saying to the nurse that he's the father."

"He is!?" Celine gasped in horror thinking that he really was the one that took advantage of his daugther. "That son of a..."

"No... I mean he lied."

"Oh! He did?"

"Yeah, and he went in the doctor's office with me to see the ultrasound."

"Oh my God? Why on earth did he do that?" the mother was stumped to hear that.

"Well..." Erika muttered, and recalled the reason why Trevor did what he did.

"What?"

"He said that he... liked me."

Celine was taken aback, and at the same time, she had a hunch about it. "Really?" she stammered. "That explains... a lot."

"It doesn't matter, I told him to stay away from now on. He lied back in the hospital, and he's too involve already."

"I understand, Honey. Anyway, I'll go change and prepare dinner for us, okay?"

"Okay, Mom."
