Chapter 14 : Move On From The Worse
A few months later, it was the weekend. Erika went to the park, and her tummy was visibly big because she was already four months pregnant, so she had to wear a loose maternity dress that could hide it.
She was meeting up with the only friend she had in town. Eventually, Erika spotted Trevor sitting by the bench with his six-year-old little sister, who was wearing a princess gown, and he was helping her tie her shoes.
"Hey, Trevor," Erika said.
"Oh, hey, Erika," Trevor replied. "By the way, this is my little sister, Thea. Thea, say hi to Erika."
"Hi." The little girl waved at her brother's friend.
"Hi! Thea," Erika greeted back.
"Jun-jun, she's so pretty. Is she your girlfriend?"
Trevor's face turned red since his crush was just standing near them as she just kept quiet and let him answer that. "No," he choked. "She's just a friend."
"I like your dress," Erika interjected.
"Thank you, I'm going to a princess party."
"Oh, wow! That sounds fun."
Afterward, Trevor was done tying his sister's shoes. "Alright, now you can go to the party."
"Can you braid my hair?" Thea asked by handing him a scrunchie.
"I can't braid. You should've asked mom before we left."
"Aaaww..."
Erika sympathized with seven-year-old, so she decided to help her since she could braid. "Here, let me do it," she offered.
"You'll braid my hair?" Thea beamed with excitement.
"Yeah, just turn around for me." The teenage girl took the hair-tye and sat down on the bench with them, then began fixing the little girl's long light caramel hair.
Trevor admired his crush even more by just helping his little sister."By the way, Erika does ballet," Trevor informed.
Thea's eyes lit up. "Really?" she gasped.
Erika smiled and nodded. "Yeah, do you like ballet?"
"Thea is taking lessons," Trevor answered.
"You must be really good then," Thea added.
"I bet you are too," Erika responded.
"You must know some hard tricks too. Can you teach me?"
Trevor then had to break the news to his sister about that due to Erika's condition. Just not having to reveal the real reason why. "Uhm... Thea, Erika is kind of... busy. She might not be able to help you with that," he told her.
The little girl pouted, yet she comprehended. "Okay."
Although, Erika felt bad after hearing her tone. "No, Trev, that's alright," she assured him. After that, she turned to Thea. "The thing is, you have to wait when you're older to do the hard tricks, but I can help you practice if you want."
"I like that."
"Are you sure?" Trevor whispered to the pregnant teenager.
"Yeah, it's fine," Erika replied.
Once the braiding was done, Thea admired the braid and even felt it in her little fingers. "Wow, it's like Elsa's from Frozen," she squeeled, then gave Erika a hug. "I love it. Thank you. Now I'm ready to go to the party."
"You're welcome. Have fun."
"Alright, I'll pick you up at three," Trevor reminded before the little girl began running off.
"Okay!" Thea responded.
Erika giggled. "She's so cute."
"Runs in the family, right?" Trevor replied. "Don't answer that. By the way, I bought you some dumplings and orange juice."
The pregnant teen's eyes widened with delight. "Oh! thanks, I've been craving for this."
"Well, thanks for agreeing to hang out with me," Trevor said. "While I have to wait around while my sister is having her princess party with her friends."
"Of course." Erika took the chopsticks and began eating steamed siomai. After that, she began eating the dumplings and felt like she hadn't eaten them for years. "Hmm... this is so good."
"Geez, you make it sound like you don't eat them every day."
"I am eating for two," Erika reminded while still chewing. "I swear, I feel like I could eat ten dozen more of these."
"Let me know if you want to. The shop is just a five minutes walk from where I work."
The teen mom playfully punched the side of Trevor's arm. "It's just an expression. It's not like I can."
"Well, I'm serious anyway."
"Trev, as much as I love these dumplings, you should also save some money for yourself. You want to go to college, don't you?"
Trevor instantly remembered the offer Mr. Heinus gave to him. "Don't worry about that, I'm saving enough," he assured her. "What about you? Are you planning to go to Eliard after the baby is born?"
"Maybe not right away, and because I didn't get to go this year, I have to go through the audition again," she explained.
"What? You're kidding. You have to audition again?"
"Yeah, I know, it sucks, but that's just how it is, and it's fair."
"I guess. Although, I bet you'll ace again," Trevor said to her.
All of a sudden, they heard two men talking nearby. "Did you hear? this Duke Shay will be playing the first start-up this season," a guy said to his friend, Of course. Erika recognized her high school sweetheart's name instantly.
"Yeah, maybe he's good," said the guy's friend.
"Can't wait to see what he got."
"Wow! Shay is getting big in the soccer world," Trevor commented to her, then he saw Erika's face. "Which you're not interested in talking about it. Sorry."
"No, it's okay. I'm over it, I kinda already expect that when he goes pro," she told him. Erika did find herself missing him, but then she looked at her baby bump.
"Do you still... think of him?" the guy asked nervously.
"About Shay?"
"Yeah."
Erika paused, then sighed, "Sometimes."
Trevor felt sad about that, but at the same time, he understood. "Okay."
"But I try to forget about it. He's out there being a star player, and I'm here... well, you know."
"Sorry that I brought it up," he apologized.
"No, it's okay. I have someone else in my heart." The soon-to-be mother turned to her baby bump. "I'm going to have my next check up in a couple of days, and I will know the gender.
Trevor beamed seeing Erika loving her child. "So what do you think you'll have? Like the gender?"
"Before all these happened, I always wanted a girl. But now, I'm good with any. Actually, I think having a boy as your first born would be great."
"What about names? Have you thought of one."
"I like names like Audrey, from Audrey Hepburn. She's like my idol. I also like Luna or maybe Blythe. I can't decide."
"You know, I used to name mine..." Trevor blurted.
Erika almost heard what he was about to say. Though, not quite. "What?"
"Nothing. Ahem... What about for boys?"
"I can't come up with one. Any suggestions?"
"Hmm... How about... Trevor?" The guy pointed to himself in a joking manner.
"Very original," the teen mother snickered. "By the way, speaking of names, why did Thea call you Jun-jun a while ago?"
"Oh, that's what she and my family call me."
"But why?"
"Well, because my name is Trevor Dell Junior."
Erika understood. "Oh, I get it."
"I am named after my dad, Trevor Dell Senior," Trevor explained. "You know, when I was a kid, I was called TJ, but I never liked it."
"But it's kinda cute, TJ," the teenage girl commented, then suddenly, she felt something in her tummy. "Oh... Wow."
"What? What's happening?" Trevor felt worried.
"It's the baby."
"What? Do we need to go to the hospital?"
"No, no, I think it's kicking," she told him with a big smile on her face as she touched her tummy and felt a small push from the inside. "Woah... It's happening again."
"Does it hurt?" The guy asked.
"No, not really. Here, feel it." Erika was so happy that she grabbed Trevor's hand and made him touch her baby bump.
"Wow, cool, it's like it wants to be a socc... karate fighter."
"Geez, you don't have to be so careful around me after everything." The young soon-to-be mother just laughed it off. "Although, that kick does feel like a karate fighter."
"Right. Anyway, I think it's kicking because it likes to be called Trevor."
"We don't even know what gender is it yet."
"Okay, okay," Trevor chuckled. "Maybe it's just hungry."
"Maybe," Erika giggled.

However, someone else was at the same park. Shay was back in town with Jio while wearing a cap and shades so people would not be able to recognize him. "It's nice to be home, and finally got my high school diploma so I can apply for college," he said to Jio.
"How?" his buddy asked. "You'll be training and traveling the world all the time."
"There's online classes, and I can take them when there's off-season." Suddenly, Shay stopped walking as he looked around the park.
"What is it? Why are we stopping?" Jio asked.
"Nothing, I just remembered this is where I always used to take Erika."
"Is that why we're here?"
Shay sighed. "No, my dad is not expecting me for another hour, so yeah... I don't want to go to the hotel yet. Ugh... I'm so sick of it."
"Why? What's wrong?" Jio questioned
"It's like ever since I got in the team, I feel like he's still breathing down my neck even more."
"You know how your dad."
"Yeah, and I hate it. I just wish he doesn't hover over how I play or how coach trains me," Shay exasperated out of frustration.
"Geez... He needs a chill pill," Jio responded. "Anyway, it won't be as bad as police academy."
"You know, that doesn't sound so bad."
"Anyway, I'm getting kind of hungry. Let's go eat first."
"Sure, my treat."
Later, the two guys were buying hotdogs, but then Jio saw something that caught his eye as it widened. "Is that Erika?" he pointed with his finger.
"Huh?" Shay turned around to confirm what his best friend saw, and it did.
"And is that... Trevor."
They saw his ex and their old high school friend together and being happy with each other from where he was standing. What made his anger worse was that Trevor was feeding Erika and making the chopsticks like an airplane flying the dumplings to her mouth.
Shay became so mad that he did not see that Erika was actually pregnant. Not long, he stormed away. "Let's get out of here," he grunted.
"Hey! wait up." Jio took the hotdogs and paid the cook then chased after his buddy. A minute after, they were in the parking lot. "Do you think they're...?" he asked.
"I don't know, but they did go to prom together," Shay said in frustration.
"Dude, come on. Maybe it's not what you think."
"What if it is?"
"Fine. What if it they are together?" Jio sighed. "So what? You are torturing yourself. Just forget about it."
"Ugh... you're right, I was the one that ended it anyway, and at least she moved on fast. Good for her."
