Challenge Accepted
As soon as Anti had walked out the door, his phone began vibrating insistently. He glanced at the screen and was glad to see that it was Infelix calling him.
"What's up?" Anti answered, walking down the sidewalk to find a hotel to stay in. It was late, eleven at night according to his phone.
"Don't check into a hotel, it keeps you off the radar." Infelix stated.
"Then where am I going?" Anti huffed, knowing better than to question why he should remain unknown. If a missing person abruptly showed up, who knows what would happen.
"I sent you to Dublin for a reason. Isn't your house a couple blocks away?" Infelix questioned.
Anti froze mid step, hoping Infelix wasn't serious.
"I can't go back home, I don't own it." Anti shook his head.
"Technically you do since your dad's dead and your mom is somewhere over the rainbow." Infelix reminded him.
Anti hesitated before crossing the street, walking down to his old house hat he thought he would never visit again.
Everything looked the same when he walked in, the beer bottles still scattered everywhere and trash still in need of being taken out. He could even still see the dried blood from when he cut his feet a broken bottle on the last day of school and had to limp to the bathroom to bandage them up.
"I'll call you tonight to hear about your first lesson." Infelix informed him before hanging up.
The first thing Anti did was take out the trash since the smell made him want to throw up. He then tossed out every single bottle of alcohol out of the house.
Literally.
Once that was finished, Anti walked into his bedroom, the bed still unmade and floor as messy as he remembered it being.
He dug through his closet and changed out of his uniform and put on a black t-shirt and black jeans so he was more comfortable. He then stepped into the bathroom and removed his contacts, looking at his multicolored eyes for the first time in years.
Before he could do anything else, his phone started vibrating again. This time, it was Dark calling him.
"Hey, what's up?" Anti asked as he walked back to his room and sat down on the edge of his bed.
"Nothing much, it's just...I really wanted to hear your voice. I don't want to be separated in different countries for however long." Dark huffed in frustration, his voice crackling over the phone due to bad reception.
"Same here." Anti sighed in agreement flopping backwards so his head was resting on his pillow.
"Emily Smith is actually pretty laid back thankfully, I'm starting practice tomorrow whenever I get to the practice rink. What about you?" Dark countered.
"I dunno, but Aedan Murphy...he reminds me of my dad. Drunk, always angry at someone or thing..." Anti trailed off.
"I'd trade you if I could, your coach sounds miserable to be around." Dark admitted.
"You're not Irish." Anti pointed out.
"Top o' the morning Anti! Did he eat yer lucky charms?" Dark spoke in a horrible Irish accent that made Anti struggle to not laugh at him.
"Real convincing." Anti stated sarcastically as he rolled his eyes, even though Dark couldn't see him.
"Where in America did Infelix send you?" Anti asked.
"LA. I used to live here with my mom." Dark stated, a tinge of regret and sadness evident in his tone.
"Why don't you go find her?" Anti suggested.
"I can't, I don't want her involved in what I do. She thinks I ran away after my dad died, I'm not going to suddenly show up and say 'hey how's it going, I joined a group of assassins and have killed people for years, how are you?" Dark sighed.
"Well I wouldn't say those exact words." Anti chuckled lightly.
"I gotta get going, otherwise Smith would think I quit already. Talk to ya tonight?" Dark asked hopefully.
"I'll try." Anti promised before he hung up. As soon as he did, his phone alerted him that he was getting a call from an unknown number. He hesitated before answering it, curious to see who was calling him.
"Are you ready to go yet? I've been waiting for you at the Ice Skating Blanchardstown for two hours!" Murphy snapped impatiently.
"How did you get my number?" Anti frowned.
"A friend of yours told me." Murphy stated.
Anti knew instantly that it had to be Infelix.
"I'll be there soon." Anti promised him before hanging up, sticking his phone in his pocket before walking outside to hail a cab. He had no idea where his old car much to his annoyance.
Anti could see Murphy waiting outside for him as he pulled up, looking as annoyed as Anti felt as Anti paid the driver and stepped out.
"Why didn't you come here?" Murphy demanded.
"How was I supposed to know? I'm not a leprechaun like you!" Anti countered.
"What happened to the ridiculous accent from last night anyway?" Anti added.
"Oh, that....I was drunk, so my real accent must've shown." Murphy explained.
"Do you have any equipment?" He abruptly changed the subject. Anti shook his head no, earning a soft sigh from Murphy.
"Follow me, I think I have just the thing." Murphy instructed as he unlocked the glass door and walked inside, leaving Anti no choice but to follow.
The rink was giant, the room dimly lit since the building was previously empty. There were multiple rinks next to the one Murphy was waiting for Anti in, all of them looking the same and separated from each other by waist tall white walls. There were even several red stands in the back that sold food like crepes and funnel cake.
Anti jumped in surprise when suddenly the lights flashed on, illuminating only the rink he and Murphy was in.
"Here, you can borrow my skates for now." Murphy tossed Anti a pair of sleek black skates. They were a little scuffed, but otherwise looked in perfect condition.
"What first?" Anti asked, feeling eager to learn something new.
"You need to tie the skates properly, we can't have you take a turn and break your ankles now can we?" Murphy stated, motioning for Anti to sit down.
Anti felt the cold seep through his jeans as soon as he sat down, the cold extremely uncomfortable.
"Like this." Murphy stuck one skate on Anti's foot and showed him how to tie it. Anti copied what he did and laced up the other skate.
"Good." Murphy nodded as Anti wobbly managed to stand back up, holds by onto the wall for support.
"See you tomorrow." Murphy waved as he walked off of the rink.
"That's it? We only have a month before competition and you're leaving already?!?" Anti frowned in confusion.
"I'm done, but if you want to keep going you can. Besides, you said that you're a fast learner, I want to see how fast." Murphy shrugged.
Anti opened his mouth to protest, but was prevented by Murphy.
"Make sure to lock up when you leave." Murphy smirked as he left, tossing
a silver key over his shoulder to Anti before the door shut behind him with a bang that echoed around the spacious building.
"What the hell?!?" Anti yelled to know one in particular.
I paid one hundred bucks just for him to let me figure out how to skate by myself?, Anti thought in bewilderment.
"Challenge accepted." Anti decided aloud, a small smirk playing onto his lips as he started looking up ice skating tutorials on his phone.
