Chapter 5
Third Person POV
3 months later
Cannon fire was heard from all around. Roars from the winged creatures were all over the small town. The keys had attempted to kill the king of the dragons and now they were going to pay.
Connor DragonLord flew into the town and picked up little Serene in his claws.
The key screamed as she was plucked off the ground and carried high into the air for her whole town to see. He held the small key in a tight grip.
Connor roared angrily, getting the attention of every key and dragon.
Serene's POV
I struggled to get out of Connor's tight grip, but it was no use.
All the keys were distracted, my eyes watered as all the dragons began slaughtering them.
"NO!" I screamed and cried. I was being forced to watch my friends die.
"Hush key. Your next so stop your crying." Connor's harsh voice spoke in my mind.
I couldn't bear to watch my friends die.
I continued crying until all went silent.
Connor held me in front of his face, growling. I began shaking as he opened his mouth. I quickly closed my eyes so I wouldn't see anything he was going to do to me.
But his tongue nor teeth never came. Instead a familiar roar was heard followed by another familiar roar and a roar I didn't know.
I opened my eyes only to be grabbed in the mouth of none other then Kai.
Abby was flying behind him in order to protect him from Connor. Another dragon tackled Connor to the ground, growling. I hadn't gotten a glimpse of that dragon but I knew it was a girl.
"Are you okay Serene?" Kai asked softly in my mind.
"I'm okay," I sighed. "They slaughtered the keys."
Tears pricked my eyes, and Kai whimpered sadly once I said that.
"I'm so sorry, Serene." He whimpered. "Abby, Bailey, and I will do all we can to protect you."
"Who's Bailey?" I asked quietly.
"She's the dragon of dark magic, also the one who tackled Connor out of the sky. She would never devour a key."
"O-Oh," I replied shakily then heard an angry roar getting close fast.
"I'm sorry about this Serene, but it's for your own safety," Kai apologized then quickly swallowed me for safety.
I could already tell this was going to be a long and bumpy ride.
Serene's POV
4 years later
I have been in hiding for 4 years, preparing to fight Connor. He took away all of my kind and now he was going to pay.
I was going to bring the keys back and end this war no matter the cost.
"Serene?" A voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
I looked up to see a young girl with pink hair and a white dress on. Her bright blue eyes stared into mine, full of concern and sorrow.
"Yes Cypher?" I asked softly.
"You were thinking about it again, weren't you?" She sighed.
I sighed and nodded slightly. Cypher worried to much about me when it came to the war between keys and dragons. She knew that I was upset about the only family I had known since they found me wandering the streets of a small town. I had felt unwanted and unloved before I met the keys, and now that they are gone, I feel all alone.
I felt Cypher put her hand on my shoulder as I looked down at my reflection in a small stream. I didn't understand why I was in this world or how I came to be. But what I did know was this.
I wasn't normal.
I certainly was not human.
And that someone had created me.
But my question is this...
Who created me and for what purpose?
The next few weeks went by slowly. I left Cypher and went off on my own to figure out who had created me. I went from town to town, hoping that someone knew where I had come from, but no one had any idea. I suppose my past did not want me to figure out who my family was.
My question is why.
Why did this happen to me?
Its like the world I knew wasn't the world I was supposed to know at all. Everything and everyone around me would disappear from my life or they would get killed trying to protect me.
