I quickly ran from the room as my dad started yelling at the girl known as Abby. He kept yelling how she was dangerous and that she shouldn't be sneaking around.
I was honestly scared of my dad when he yelled and after he acted all weird, I don't think I wanna be near him.
As I got farther down a dark hallway I noticed a door I had never been in before.
I slowly crept over to it and pressed my ear against it. On the other side I could here crying.
Slowly I turned the door knob and walked in. I saw a young boy laying on a bed crying. The room was dark and cold.
I walked over to the bed and gently touched his arm. He jumped and looked at me in shock.
"S-Serene? Your not supposed to be in here." He stuttered.
I looked at him confused. "Who are you?" I asked.
He looked at me for a moment then replied. "I'm Poseidon."
I smiled. "Hi Poseidon!"
Poseidon examined me and noticed the mark on my neck. He then reached over and gently ran his fingers over my mark.
I didn't flinch at all. It was like his powers wouldn't hurt me.
"It looks painful." he said softly. I nodded in reply.
"It hurts really bad."
He looked at me sadly. "I'm sorry it hurts."
I looked at the ground as the pain got stronger. I flinched. "Why were you crying?"
Poseidon stayed quiet for a moment. "Because I am lonely. No one ever wants to play with me and dad doesn't really care about me."
This made me feel sad and angry. I couldn't believe this. Why would dad not care about Poseidon? He's really nice!
All of a sudden I felt Poseidon pick me up and set me down next to him on the bed. I smiled a little, then hugged him.
Poseidon was shocked but then hugged back.
I felt my eyes grow heavy and yawned. I then curled up and closed my eyes. Poseidon held me close and quick pulled a blanket over me as I slowly fell asleep.

One week Later

I woke up to smoke covering my room. I began to cough violently as I jumped out of bed and ran out the door. I looked down the hallway to see my parents room going up in flames.
My eyes began to water as I saw my dad run out of the room coughing, carrying Abby, with Andrew beside him. I felt someone grab my hand as I looked beside me to see Poseidon.
Where was my mom?
"We need to get out of here now!" My dad yelled as he ran out of the house with Abby and Andrew.
I quickly followed with Poseidon. I continued to cough as the smoke continuously entered my lungs. It was too much for me.
"It's all your fault!" I heard my dad yell at Poseidon.
"D-Dad it's not his fault," I spoke softly.
My dad glared at me with tears in his eyes and I quickly looked at the ground, coughing again.
"Dad, she's right. It's not-" Abby began.
That's when he lost it.
Andrew held Abby close as my dad lost his temper.
"It's all his fault! I hate him!" he yelled as anger and hatred filled his eyes.
"Y-You hate me?" Poseidon stuttered as tears filled his eyes.
"Poseidon-" I began.
He then ran off into the forest crying.
"Poseidon!" I yelled and ran after him.

Time Skip

I fell to my knees crying. I had lost Poseidon and I couldn't find the rest of my family. I was lost, cold, tired and hungry.
I had no home now and no one was around to help me.
I curled up by a tree, shivering and crying.
I wanted my family. I wanted my mom. I wanted a home.
I soon fell asleep crying, hoping that this was all one nightmare that would soon end.
But it wasn't.

3 Years Later

I quickly ran through the small town, trying to get away from the police. I had changed quite a bit since I lost my home and family.
My hair had grown longer and into a darker purple. I was now 8 years old and had learned how to fend for myself. I had become a thief. I would go town to town stealing what I could to survive off of. I usually stole some fruit, new clothes and blankets. I also had stolen a backpack to carry all my stuff in.
I had never gotten caught. For some reason the mark on my neck gave me new power. Each time it glowed a different color it changed my water power.
I kept running until I was out of the town and into the forest. The police stopped chasing me, knowing they would never find me in the forest.
I looked behind me to see if they actually were following me, and stopped at once when I saw they were not.
I looked around the dark forest when I heard an evil laugh.
"W-Who's there?!" I questioned.
I watched as a tall man walked up to me out of the shadows. He had gray wings, serpent eyes and scales all over. He carried in his hands a long black staff.
"Hello there child. What are you doing out here all alone?" he smirked.
"I-I was running away from the police. I stole some food from the village market." I stuttered.
I was one to never talk to strangers. If I got to close to someone they ended up trying to use me. That's why I was always on the run. Once someone found out I was a key, they wanted to either sell me or drain my power. I never let them.
"I am Hybrid. What is your name child?" he questioned.
"S-Serene."
"Well then Serene, why don't you take a nice nap." Hybrid smirked. He then aimed his staff at me and sucked me inside as the world around me went black.

I woke up in a small room, strapped down to a table. I felt fluttering come from my back and turned by head to see a pair of blackish- blue Phoenix wings.
"Ah your awake my dear," I heard a rough voice say.
I looked over to a corner of the room to see none other than Hybrid. "What did you do to me?!"
"I turned you into a shadow Phoenix. Well half shadow Phoenix, key."
My eyes widened at this. I didn't know which I should be more scared about. The fact that this guy experimented on me and turned me into a shadow Phoenix, or the fact that he knew I was a key.
"H-How do you-"
"I know your father, Council." he cut me off. "I do say he makes a fine villain. You do realize he created you right?
"Of course I do! My father told me everything."
Well sadly enough for you my dear, those memories will soon be gone."
I felt him place his cold hand on my head and watched as he pulled a glowing gold string from it. My memories. Everything I was and who I am was now gone.
I could remember only one thing.
My name. Serene.
