Unlikely (Rachel)
Rachel- the next day
Nina and I have a lot of qualities in common. Lying is not one of them. We were really popular throughout middle school, We had a whole group- Nicole, Arya, Diana and us. But then Nina started feeling guilty about all the lies she told us so she called us to her house and decided to let it all out.
Flashback
"Hey Guys! So, Um, I have to tell you something", Nina hesitated.
"Yeah sure, what's up?", Diana asked casually, without looking up from her laptop.
"Um so you know how I said I have a sister? Well I don't. It's just me and my dad.", she whispered.
"What? Um why would you lie about something like that?", Nicole asked.
"I don't know. I guess I was just trying to fit in.", Nina said.
That's the thing about Nina. Defence is her offence.
"Well, It's okay but don't lie about anything else okay?", I said, even though I knew this was just the beginning.
Flashback end
She lies every single day and she's become an expert at it. Now, I'm her only friend. As you can imagine, everyone left her and I felt bad so I decided to stick around. My brother, Alex, is a therapist and tries to make me give everybody a second chance, so I do.
It's very unlikely that Nina's actually going to get consent from her dad to come to my brother's office but its worth a shot. I sigh and ring the doorbell to their small villa-style house.
"Oh hi Rachel, Come on in", Her dad answers the door.
"Thank you Mr. Anderson.", I say as I step into the living room which is all to familiar.
"So what brings you here? I'm sure you know that Nina's out."
"I actually wanted to talk to you about something. Nina needs therapy and I'm sure Alex could figure out a time slot for a weekly consultation. All I need is your parental consent on this form.", I say as I pull out a form for therapy at the Teens Mental Health Facility.
"Rachel. Nina is fine. She doesn't need therapy and I will not stand anyone who tries to tell me what's wrong with my daughter."
He was starting to get agitated, I had to do something.
"Mr. Anderson, Therapy is not for people who have something wrong with them. It's a safe space for anyone to talk about themselves, and she will greatly benefit from it. Even I'm in therapy, it's not as bad as you think it is."
"Listen, I don't know what your brother has brainwashed you into thinking but where I'm from, a kid talks to their parents when somethings wrong so she'll come to me if she needs something.", he stands up and gestures towards the door.
I clenched my fists as I left emptyhanded. Now only one person can convince him what's good for Nina, and that's Nina herself.
