The next day mom was still upset about the deposition even though our lawyer told her it was just a formality and the lawsuit might not go to court. Zach stayed as long as he could last night, I felt a little better not that I told someone. I reached out to Jessica but I didn't get a response yet.  I has also being calling Sheri since yesterday and she hasn't called me back either.

I was getting in my car when my phone rang , it was Alex

"Hey Alex what's up?"

"Sheri turned herself in." He said and I almost dropped my phone

"W-what? When?"

"Yesterday, my dad just told me."

"Is she still there?"

"No her parents bailed her out."

"Bail?" What are they charging her with?"

"Involuntary manslaughter."

"Oh my God. I'm going over to her house. Thanks for calling Alex."

"Yeah no problem keep me updated." He said then we hung up

I drove over to Sheri's moms house, when I got there both of her parents cars were in the driveway but Sheri's car was nowhere in sight. I knocked on the door and waited it was opened a few seconds later her mom opened it. She looked tired and worried

"Hi Perri, listen now is not a good time."

"I was just hoping I could just talk to Sheri for a few minutes please."

"She's resting it's been a long night."

"mom it's ok." Sheri said coming down the stairs

"Alright five minutes." She said and Sheri stepped out onto the porch with me. I pulled her into a hug she hugged me back and I felt a few tears hit my shoulder

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I don't know. I was going to, I showed up at Monet's but I just couldn't go in. I think it's all this court talk, I just couldn't handle it."

"Well we all agreed to tell the truth at the deposition. Tyler and I go next Friday."

"That's good I guess."

"So what happens from here with your case?" I asked and she started crying again

"Our lawyer is talking with the prosecutor  about a plea deal."

"That's not bad."

"P I could go to jail."

"You're not."

"I deserve it."

"No you don't Sheri you're a good person who made a mistake. Your now taking the steps to fix it." I said she just shook her head then front door opened and her mom stepped out

"Come on Sheri." She said and I gave Sheri another hug

"Let me know when you have to go to court so I can be there." I said and she nodded

"Thanks so much Perri."

"Call me if you need me." I said then she went inside, I got in my car and headed to school. By the time I got there first period was over, and we were in the middle of class change. I was headed to my second class of the day which was communications Zach was waiting outside of the door

"Hey what are you doing?" I asked as he hugged me tight

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine what's going on?"

"I was worried, I've been calling you and you weren't in first period." He said looking down at me

"Alex called me this morning, Sheri turned herself in yesterday."

"Holy shit, what did they do to her?"

"They charged her with involuntary manslaughter, her parents bailed her out but right now her lawyer is working on a plea deal."

"Is she gonna go to jail?"

"I hope not but it is a possibility."

"How are you feeling?" He asked and I knew what he was referring to

"I don't know, but what about you? You haven't killed Bryce I'm proud of you."

"It's not that I don't want to, but I need to be there for you. He's not worth it." He said and I just leaned in and kissed him, it was interrupted by the bell. I took Zach's hand as we walked into the classroom

In sixth period, Jessica finally texted me back and she asked if I could come over after school, I told her yes and waited for the bell that rang ten minutes later. I was headed out of the building when I noticed Tyler by the front door glaring at Bryce and his group

"don't even think about it." I said to him

"Why not? We can't let him get away with this."

"Look Tyler dealing with all of this shit is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I know your pissed but I need you to let me handle this."

"How are you handling Perri? Your not eating, you barely sleep your room is right across from mine you think I don't hear you screaming some nights. Bryce needs to be dealt with ." He said then walked out of the front doors ignoring my calls for him to come back
