Chapter 3

Something was up, I could tell everyone was acting weird, Zach, Alex, and even Justin. I asked Zach what was going on, but he claimed it was nothing, so I just let it go for now. I was putting my gym bag in my backseat when I saw the box my backseat. I had forgot all about it, I picked it up and started to open it when I felt arms wrap around my waist and a kiss was placed on my cheek.

"Hey handsome." I said turning to face Zach.

"We're going to hang out at Bryce's, do you want to come?"

"Um not today, I'm a little tired."

"Then I'll come over."

"No, I'm just going to do some homework, and probably crash. You go have fun with your friends."

"I don't know if I want you to be alone."

"I'm fine I promise." I said then kissed him he wrapped his arms around me as a horn sounded and we jumped apart. We looked to see Justin, and a few other guys from the basketball team sitting in Zach's car and laughing

"You go, we can do something tomorrow." I said pulling away, but he held me tight and kissed me hard.

"Get some Zach!"

"Hmm what was that for?' I asked once we pulled apart.

"I love you." He said with a smile.

"I love you too." I said then kissed him again then got in my car

"I'll see you tomorrow." I told him and then pulled off

When I got home I grabbed my bag and the box and went inside where I found a note from mom saying that she and dad went out to dinner and for us to order out.

"Tyler what do you want to order for dinner?" I asked walking towards his room.

"Tyler?" I called but got no response.

"Tyler-" I opened his door and found him sweeping up glass from another rock thrown at the window.

"Can you knock?" He snapped

"Jesus Tyler, what happened?"

"What does it look like?"

"Do you know whose doing this?"

"No."

"Yeah right, I'm calling the police."

"Don't! I can take care of it!"

"Because you're doing such a great job right now?"

"Just get the fuck out of my room!"

"Whatever." I said slamming his door as I left. I went into my room and kicked off my shoes and sat on the bed with the package. Inside was a hand decorated shoe box, and inside the box there were seven cassette tapes.

"What the hell? Who uses cassettes anymore?" I laughed to myself, I went and grabbed my dad's old stereo from the attic and plugged it up, and I put in tape one.

Hey it' s Hannah. Hannah Baker. Don't adjust your whatever device you listening to this on.

I felt like I was going to be sick, was this real? Was someone messing with me?

It's me live and in stereo. No return engagements, no encores, and absolutely no requests. So, grab a snack sit back and listen, because I'm about to tell you the story of my life. More importantly why my life ended. If you're listening to these tapes you're one of reasons why.

I jumped to my feet and made it to a trash can before I threw up.
