Scars

Jasper's POV

"Mr. Cole is like such a waste of a pretty face" Said a female student as she walked past me with her friend.

"I know right, that ugly scar just totally ruined it, mmm this is good, I wonder what happened that made him get it" Her friend said while eating what looked like some sort of mini cake.

"It looks like something attacked him, maybe he accidentally walked into a animal cage at the zoo?"

"That'd make him not as smart as he wants us to think" The other girl finished her cake.

"Yeah only dumb people can make that mistake"

"Pffft yeah, so he's not as scary-"

"Excuse me, Alex and Ann-" I cut them off

"Eep!"

"Oh shit!"

"Language, anyway I overheard your conversation and I advise you not to disrespect your teachers no matter their appearance"

"And whatca gonna do about it?" Annabeth, the one who was eating the cake, said then Alexandria nudge her arm hard.

"Well I suppose if you don't mind your manners I'll arrange for both of you to take summer school until you of off to college and you dear Ann I am more then happy to tell your parents about some incidents you managed to block them getting information about" I don't know if it was my tone or that look in my eye the principal said I get when I threaten students to behave but both of them look frightened.

"Yes sir, won't happen again!" Alex said quickly before Ann could say something stupid again.

"Y-yeah"

Alex grabbed Annabeth's arm roughly and started speed walking down the hall "what the fuck did I tell you about opening that big mouth of yours when a teacher is talking to us?" She snapped.

"I'm sorry it was reflex" Ann flinched lightly.

"Next time shut up!"

I rolled my eyes as they disappeared around the corner then walked to Gavin's classroom, opening the door and saw he was grading some papers before his next class "you know you don't have to defend me every time they say something about... That, right?" He said without looking up.

"Of course I have to at least say something, it's the only way those brats are going to learn some respect" I said closing the door.

Gavin has been teaching here for the past four years now, he worked harder then anyone I know and was really good with the kids, but still everyone even some of the staff gave him shit because of the scar on the left side of his face. I put down my bag on a desk and walked up to his, sitting on a clear spot so I didn't mess anything up, I knew he didn't mind and I was practically weightless to this old thing so there was no way it would break, ".... Why do you always come here? Not that I don't want you to I very much like your company but why?"

I pouted "because I like seeing you, is that a crime?"

He chuckled, his broad shoulders shaking, then looked at me with those dark but somehow bright emerald eyes, the left one duller then the right. His black curly hair falling into his tannish face framing it perfectly, as always my heart beats against my chest when he looks at me, I shouldn't be falling for my coworker but I couldn't help it, he was gorgeous "no it's not a crime" He said with a smile.

I felt my cheeks heat up and looked at the blank chalkboard, he chuckled again, "well then, I guess I'll stay"

"Good, I'd be lonely if you left" I heard him go back to work.

I looked at him then swallowed thickly, deciding if he wasn't going to tell then I'd have to ask, teachers rarely stay here past four years and if he left without telling the question would eat me up inside, "...... How did you get it?"

"Hm?"

"You know what I'm talking about"

"What my scar or charming personality?" He joked, making me smile.

"Your scar silly, I already know your a gentleman because or mother would've killed you if you weren't"

"Yeah that old bat didn't take kindly to rude little shits"

I playfully flicked his ear "language, we're in school"

"Oh yeah, sorry"

I rolled my eyes, still smiling "now are you going to tell me or not?"

"Aye don't be expecting some action movie type stuff I'm not built for that, but yes I'll tell you" He smiled also.

I leaned back slightly, getting comfortable then raised a brow at him, Gavin sighed and started "I had wanted to take my daughter to a drive through type jungle experience, like you do with a safari for her second birthday. The car had broke down and for some reason the tour guide told us all to get off even though he knew it wasn't safe" He had paused to clear his throat "my daughter saw something, I think it was a snake, and she ran towards it while we were getting off the bus. I immediately went to grab her but it was too late and I had to run after her away from the group, after I finally caught up to her a tiger had jumped up from a pile of banana leaves"

I already knew where this was going and started hoping for the best, "I'm sure we were where she was keeping her babies and that's why she attacked, and in order to protect mine I had to step right into the danger zone, luckily the tiger only got my face and leg before someone heard the fight and scared her off, my daughter was physically fine though I'm sure she was traumatized from seeing her dad all bloody and stuff. After that we got back on the bus and the tour guide was fired since he faked the bus breaking down thinking it would be a funny prank and would get everyone quiet, I lost my leg but they managed to save my eye so I'm only half blind in it"

My throat was dry and my brain was too much in shock to even make natural body commands, like breathing. I would've been too scared to even move if I were in that situation and he risked his life, I had never met somebody who was as brave as him, "how..... Old is your daughter now?....." Was all I could manage.

"She's ten now, nothing from that experience seriously affected her life, but now when we're out in public she stays with me at all times and she still apologizes for walking off even though I don't really blame her, she has my curious spirit, always wanting to find out something new no matter if someone says no, and at the age of two she can't really control that" He bit on the end of his pen while reading some homework probably from one of his less bright students.

"Wait ten? How old are you?" I asked.

I felt a little silly since we've known each other for four years and I'm just now asking this, but I honestly thought he was somewhere in his mid twenties, "thirty seven" He answered while grading the paper.

"Seriously? I thought you were twenty five"

He chuckled and patted my knee "thanks for the complement but sadly I'm old"

"Oh shush you don't even have grey hair yet" I smiled.

"I'm sure there's one in there, buried"

"When you turn into a pile of dust you're allowed to call yourself old"

We both laughed and I watched his eyes shine, the urge to lean forward and connect our lips almost consumed me but I managed to control myself and sit still, it sucks when you fall for your coworker because so many things could go wrong.

Suddenly the bell rung and I jolted from shock, sliding off the desk I looked for my bag and saw it was still on one of the students desk just where I left it and also realized a few kids had filled some empty seats, not giving myself time to question how long they've been in here I snatched my bag and almost smacked face first into the door, when I opened it Gavin stopped me, "Jesse"

"Hm?" I looked at him.

He bit his lip, looking slightly nervous before continuing "come to my place tonight"

I felt my cheeks heat up and I nodded, stupid body betraying me. He smiled and went back to what he was doing, I quickly went out of the room as more kids started pouring into it and went to my own classroom before anyone noticed I wasn't there.

Gavin's POV + small timeskip

I was letting my students have a few minutes of free time before the bell rang signalling for them to go home or to whatever club they joined, Cindy one of my best students walked up to my desk looking so nervous I was afraid she was going to faint, behind her I saw a few of her friends giving her smiles and thumbs ups encouraging her. "U-um Mr. Colt, I-I know this is n-none of my business but u-um, oh gods how do I ask this...."

I raised a brow at her, wondering what she was going to ask, "okay um.... A-are you..... G-... G-.... Homosexual?....." When she finished she tensed like I would hit her for asking.

I just smiled softly, hoping that would calm her down and it did a little "yes-" She let out a sigh of relief "and no"

Cindy looked at me confused, and I chuckled leaning back in my chair "Ms. Brook, I care more about the personality then the gender"

She stared at me like I had just given the hardest college math test to her and told her to go finish all of it without any help in five minutes for a moment then it clicked in her head "you're pansexual?"

"Well if we're using labels then yes"

She smiled excitedly like someone just said Christmas was coming early "okay, thank you for answering me"

Before I could reply she speed walked to her friends and they started chatting, all of them excited now. I sighed shaking my head then finished grading the homework until the bell rang.

Another timeskip

"Daddy look, I made you a drawing!" Amy, my little girl, said excitedly while bouncing up and down.

I looked at the drawing and smiled, her art skills were way better then a normal ten year olds. She drew a bird in a tree in a nest, "it's so pretty, you're going to be a very talented woman when you're older"

"You like it?"

"I love it, now go change out if your school clothes, we'll be having a guest for dinner"

"A guest!" She suddenly got more excited "I love guests! Is it grandma? Auntie and uncle? Please don't let it be Dave, Dave is scary"

"No honey it's not Dave, I already told you we aren't talking to each other anymore"

She hugged me "good"

I chuckled "now go change, they'll be here any minute"

"Okay daddy!"

And with that she ran upstairs, I chuckled and went back to cooking. Just as I set the plates on the table my phone ran, "hello?"

"Hey um.... I think I may be um.... Lost? You live on green street right?" Jasper asked sheepishly.

"Yes I live on green street, which house are you in front of?"

"Um, it's a big red brick house with no garage"

"Okay then your not too far away, drive slowly up until you see a big sky blue house with white trims"

"Okay, hold on" I heard him start up his car again.

Soon I saw headlights in the window, pulling back the curtain I see his small black Honda, "you're here"

"Oh, I feel dumb now, I passed your house two times"

"Don't be, I live in a very confusing neighborhood"

He turned off his car and got out then walked to the door, I hung up and opened it just as he was about to knock, "hey" His cheeks turned light pink.

I stepped aside so he could come in and he did shyly, I liked that side of him, usually he was confident and playful, it's nice to know that's not all to him. "So.... Your daughter, she's not going to be upset with me here right? I don't want to cause any trouble"

"Don't worry she loves meeting new people, besides I've told her about you so she'll love to see you herself"

That seemed to make him blush more, he looked around the house, seeming like he was about to ask more questions when he saw what I cooked "I love meatloaf!"

"Doesn't everybody?" I chuckled.

He sat next to my Daughter's chair and I sat across from him, he looked like he was thinking deeply and stared at the empty chair next to me "where's...... Her mother?"

"Off doing whatever her alcoholic self does, haven't seen her since Amy was born" I sipped my water and saw his expression turn to shock.

"Oh...."

"Don't feel bad or anything, I'm glad she's not in my daughter's life and Amy already has a mother figure to relate to"

He nodded and sipped his water, probably feeling like he was asking too personal questions, but I liked that he wanted to get to really know me. "Hey don't-"

"Daddy is the guest here yet?" Amy said from the stairs "I hear talking"

"Yes Amy dear, come say hi"

She slowly came downstairs and stared at Jasper from the doorway of the kitchen, he looked at her and smiled shyly. I noticed she managed to perfectly get her hair in pigtails, which surprised me because she has a hard time doing her hair on her own. She walked over and sat in her chair, still staring at Jasper, I could tell he was getting uncomfortable but when I was about to say something she spoke finally "you're pretty, are you my daddy's boyfriend?"

Both mine and Jasper's face turned cherry red, "u-um, no, I'm his coworker" He answered.

Amy smiled "so you're the man daddy likes! He tells me a lot about you and says you're really nice and funny, he also said he likes your smile"

"Oh really?" He started to smile, no longer uncomfortable.

"Mhm, before, daddy was really stressed and sad, I'm glad he met you so now he's happy and spends more time with me"

Jasper chuckled while I ran a hand through my hair, already knowing Amy will try her hardest to be his friend, "well I'm glad he spends more time with your adorable self" He said.

They continued talking and laughing, completely forgetting that it was dinner while I ate, watching them. It was good that they got along, knowing that Amy liked him gave me confidence to start dropping hints that I like him, it shrunk my insecurities. A smile crept onto my face when Jasper's stomach growled and he blushed then I noticed something, something I've been subconsciously ignoring for the past four years. Amy had my black curly but not super curly hair and light tan, but her eyes were blue, they were extremely light almost clear but blue none the less. Jasper's eyes were the exact same, I tried to brush it off as a coincidence but with them sitting right next time each other I started to question it. When we were all almost done eating I couldn't hold it in anymore, "hey Jasper?"

"Hm?" He looked at me from Amy.

"Do you have any siblings?"

"Just a baby brother and a twin sister, why?"

"What's your sister like?" I dodged his question.

"Last I've seen her she went to prison then rehab" He stared at me confused.

"Daddy what's rehab?" Amy asked.

"It's... It's a place where people get better"

"So it's like a hospital?"

"No baby girl it's... Where people with bad addictions go so they're not addicted anymore"

"Oh"

Suddenly the room went quiet and I felt like I should have asked that question another time, "so Amy, what other dresses do you have?" Jasper said.

I smiled as they started talking again, he was always the best at saving conversations.

After dinner we watched a movie before Amy fell asleep on me, I put her to bed then watched as Jasper nervously playing with the cuffs of his shirt. "Thanks for coming over" I said while leaning on the doorframe.

"Thank you for inviting me"

"It's no problem"

"Amy is a doll"

"Yeah she is"

He looked at me, smiling nervously then stood up and walked over "I-I should probably get home, it's turning late and we both have work"

"I guess so" I smiled, making him blush.

I moved so he could get past then put on his shoes, when he was done and opened the door I stopped him, we stared into each other's eyes then I started leaning in before pausing because I didn't know what I was doing, he stared at me through his lashes then closed his eyes and the space between us. A shiver went down my spine and a surge of heat burst in my chest, quickly before he could pull away I tangled my fingers in his sandy blond hair and kept his heavenly lips on mine, hesitantly Jasper wrapped his arms around my neck and I wrapped my free one around his waist. We stayed like that until our lungs begged for air then pulled back, I slid my hand to his cheek as we opened our eyes, he smiled and I pecked his lips smiling back. "As much as I loved that and you holding me, I really have to leave" He whispered, almost like he didn't want to go.

"O-oh yeah" I slid my hands off him and took a tiny step back.

A light blush colored at his cheeks as he stepped outside "see ya tomorrow handsome"

"See you beautiful"

Jasper smiled at me one last time before jogging to his car, as soon as he drove off I closed the door sighing then touched my lips. "Daddy and Jasper sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G" Amy giggled.

Shit I forgot she was a light sleeper, she must've woke up when I carried her upstairs, I smiled and turned around "princess aren't you supposed to be sleep?"

She giggled again "I wanted to say bye to Jasper but when I came to the stairs I didn't want to ruin your moment"

I playfully rolled my eyes and started to walk up the stairs "come on you can see him another time, right now you have to sleep"

"Okay daddy!"

Bonus Jasper POV

My mind raced as I laid in bed, curled into a ball and blushing like a school girl, he called me beautiful he called me beautiful he called me beautiful he called me beautiful, does that mean he likes me? I mean we kissed but that might've been a heat of the moment type thing, but he called me beautiful, oh gods I'm going to melt, I really hope he asks me out soon.
