Chapter 22

Halucina found Dia and Noctave standing in her villa. Dia had teleported them both there.

The villa looked like a place where hippies would hang out, with various items from around the world on display, and an overall eclectic style.

Halucina was surprised to see them in her living room.

"Why are you two here?"

Dia spoke first. "I was told that you tried to force yourself on Noctave. Seeing how you treated me, I'm not surprised."

Halucina just laughed it off.

Noctave tried to cast a spell on Halucina, but Dia stopped her. "You're very weak. Let me handle this."

"Halucina, we're here to warn you to stay away from us."

Halucina rolled her eyes. "And you're doing that by invading my privacy. Coming in my house without my permission."

Noctave grew a cheeky smile. "We can do worse than that!"

Halucina stared Noctave down. "Don't even think about it."

"Oh, I'm thinking about it."

Dia began to panic, motioning to Noctave to be quiet, and her gaze darting to Halucina's disapproving glare.

"Don't act so high and mighty, Dia. You were once mine."

"Once. That's a mistake to not be repeated."

Halucina and Dia got into an argument. Noctave used this as an opportunity to call up Umbrum to show Hallie a lesson.

"Halucina? What did she do to you?" His tone hinted that he expected the worst.

Meanwhile, Halucina and Dia's argument turned heated, turning into a magical duel.

Halucina was singed by Dia's fire attacks, but her psychic ability to freeze Dia in place and strangle her was devastating.

"Fighting me might just be the stupidest thing you've ever done."

Dia could barely breathe, and she couldn't warn Halucina when she saw her shadow turning into Umbrum.

Umbrum punched the back of Halucina's head to break her concentration, shoved her to the ground, and held her down.

"You should've known that threatening my daughter would end poorly for you."

"Oh, that's right, Noctave is your spawn!"

Dia had caught her breath. "Spawn? What's that supposed to mean?"

Umbrum put his heel on Halucina's face. Dia winced at the sight.

"I recommend leaving if you're faint of heart, Dia. I suspect we'll be here for a while."

Dia found Noctave behind the villa.

"Are you OK with your dad...you know..."

Noctave considered what to say in response.

"No, but if it keeps Halucina away from us, that's a good thing in my opinion."

Dia was unsure if this is a good thing, yet hugged Noctave all the same.

"Well, I'll do my best to protect you-"

Noctave interrupted her. "You don't need to- At least not all the time. I can handle myself."

There was a moment of silence between them.

"If I need your help, I'll tell you. I'm not afraid to ask for help."

Another silent moment passed before they shared a kiss.
