Chapter 20
Cumulus still thought his plan was working when he thought he was still secretly intercepting Noctave's letters to Dia. He was not seeing that they were filled with blatant lies about Noctaria. Well, he didn't know much about Noctaria and the first place, and he didn't feel like double-checking.
In truth, such misinformation was Umbrum's doing. He had Noctave write that in the letters.
Dia could tell something was off. It was a lot more formal in style, using many antiquated words and sayings. And it just sounded a lot like Umbrum.
She wished that their father's rivalries didn't get in the way of their relationship. It seemed that there was nothing she could do about it.
As she contemplated this, she felt as if she wasn't alone.
Halucina.
Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail. Her makeup was dramatic, and she wore lingerie.
"Surprised to see me?" She grew a wolfish smile.
"You...you're not a hallucination, are you?"
"I'm just was real as you are." She walked over and put her hand on her waist. "See?"
"What are you doing here, Hallu? I mean, I can probably guess from what you're wearing, but still..."
Hallucina played with the straps of Dia's pink nightgown. "Did you miss me? Because I have a feeling you do."
Dia's eyes darted around, hoping a guard would walk in. "Um...I guess I did like the adventures we went on..."
If she doesn't back off soon...
Dia looked directed at Hallucina, who had her arms around her shoulders.
"Can you give me some space, please?"
Halucina's green eyes glowed. "As if I'd ever let you go!" Her grip on Dia grew tighter.
Dia broke free of Hallucina's grip.
"Leave. Leave now."
"What? You're not seriously telling me to leave. Sunshine, I thought you couldn't get enough of me!"
Dia took a deep breath before speaking. "I've moved on. And don't call me "Sunshine" !"
"Oh, right, Noctave." Hallucina glared at her. "Like she's a good replacement for me."
Noctave? A replacement? "Upgrade, more like."
That hit Halucina hard.
"You didn't dare-"
"If you didn't like that, then leave. The door is right there." Dia pointed towards the door.
Halucina grew a wide smile. "Are you wearing anything underneath that nightgown? Like the lingerie set I gave you for your birthday? The one with the roses?"
Dia flushed, but held her ground.
"I'm going to give you until the count of 3 to leave."
"Oh, I'm not going anywhere." Halucina circled Dia.
"1..."
"You can do so much better than Nocave."
"2..."
"Stop this nonsense, Sunshine. You belong with me."
"3!"
A meteor hit where Halucina stood.
Cumulus barged in, wearing pajamas that showed homes being destroyed by a tornado.
"Dia! Why is there a meteorite in your room?!"
"Halucina wouldn't leave."
"You didn't have to drop a space rock on her!"
Dia groaned.
"She needs to learn somehow! We need a spell that bans her from the palace."
Cumulus shook his head. "That would not work. I would have to undo the spell that bans Umbrum from the palace."
"Oh really. Has it worked for you so far?"
Cumulus went quiet for a bit. "Fair point. I'll go and buy some dream catchers."
