Chapter 3
I got bored of the school, so I decided to take a small walk. It's not like anyone else other than Brice would notice I'm gone. I left him a note, though, so he wouldn't worry if I never respond.
Turning a corner, I came onto a road that looked oddly familiar. SpruceView Drive, the street sign read.
Now I remember, this is the street Brice lives on! I jog down the sidewalk, nearing a brick house with a white roof.
I smiled, walking up the porch steps. Wait, if I'm a ghost, why can't I walk through walls? Actually, can I?
Concentrating, I walk forward to the wall, faceplanting into it. I rub my nose, slightly stumbling back. "Yeah, that so worked."
Resting my hands on the wall, I feel around on the surface of the bricks. There has to be some sort of science to this, right?
Out of the corner of my eye, I notice something. On the other side of the house.. An open window. Eh, I'm not breaking in, and I wouldn't steal anything even if I were visible.
I walk over and I grip onto the sill. Pulling myself up and inside, I tumble onto the floor.
Standing up and brushing off my cloak, I glance around the room. Just the living room, I suppose.
I look up when I hear a door open and close. I start up the stairs when I see Mouse walking down the hall, his hand on Brice's bedroom doorknob.
He jiggles it and it opens. I shrug. He's probably sick from school. I follow him inside, but cringe when the floor creaks. Mouse just so happens to turn around, looking straight at me.
What happens is something I did not expect at all. Mouse screams. "Mom!" He runs around me as if I stood right there, and I see Mrs. Baxters come up the stairs.
"Sammy, dear, what is it?"
Mouse hugs his mom, sniffling. "I saw Brice's boyfriend! But didn't he die?"
I smile, laughing to myself that even Mouse ships us, but then have to shake the thought away. I just remember that Mouse can see me!
Mrs. Baxters releases from Mouse's hug. "Honey, you're probably seeing things. I know how much you looked up to Seto, but there's no such thing as ghosts.
"Yeah, sure," I scoff, leaning on the wall.
Mouse bounces up and down. "See! Did you not hear that?!"
"Honey, calm down and go back to bed," his mother calms him down.
The little boy sighs. "Okay.." he says in defeat. He turned around, glancing over at me. He sends a smile and waves, which I happily return.
I flood with joy. Mouse can hear me, too?! Even see me! I sprint down the stairs, diving out the window I came in through. I tumble into the yard. That probably wasn't the smartest idea but oh well.

My legs are swinging enthusiastically, waiting for Brice to come back from his classes. The door opens, but Brice doesn't answer.
Someone walks into the room, and thoughts bounce off my skull who it is. No one that I know. I silently slide off the bunk I sat on, going up to the intruder.
They wore a black hoodie over their head, jeans, a grey mask hiding their face, and dark blue sneakers. I blink, knowing I've seen those shoes before. I'm unable to see their eyes, but they're visible.
The person invades through Brice's desk drawers, until they stop, picking something up. It's a small tied up sack and a sheet of paper written in an odd language. I'm can't read it clearly, but I manage to make out my own name.
The thief then turns around, heading back to the still wide open door. In a desperate attempt, I pull on their shoulder, causing them to look over, and I bite my lip not to gasp.
Hazel brown eyes flicker in my direction, surrounded by very feminine facial features. Only one person and one person only could belong to that face.
She turns back around, bolting out the door, slamming it shut. I'm left to stand there in the middle of the room in shock. Was my mind playing tricks on me, or was that who I think it is?
