Chapter 4
"Come on you pathetic excuse for a sidekick! Can't you even hit a girl right?!" You barked aggressively as you bit at Izuku. He panted lightly as he stepped cautiously around you in circles. It annoyed you how tactical he was. He spent so much time analyzing you, the fight seemed boring. "How are you going to kill All Might if you take this long to even pin me?! You're just a mistake on All Might's behalf if you can't do a simple job."
Izuku grit his teeth together as he launched at you. His entire fist was shifting with webbed strings of energy as he tried to charge you. You rolled your eyes as your rolled out if the way and stuck your foot out. "Useles-"
You didn't finish. He swung his fist through the air and the wave of pressure sent you flying into the wall. You let out a gasp of air and scrambled to your feet, only to then get pinned to the concrete wall. Izuku, arms caging you to the stone, smirked at you. He seemed satisfied as he looked down at you. "You're too impatient and reckless. I knew you'd evade and counter one after another."
You growled before jabbing your elbow into him and watching him grab his side. You pushed him aside and walked away, smiling. "And you talk too much. Are we done stating the obvious?"
Izuku rolled his eyes as you stepped into the center of the ring again and motioned for him to join. "Come on greenie! We don't got all day!" You spat.
"We've been sparring for the past few hours, why don't you take a break before I break you?" He suggested with a cocky tone.
You glared at him as you prepared yourself to fight him again. "We'll stop sparring when you manage to pin me."
"I just did." He argued, motioning frantically towards the wall.
"Caging me to a wall then letting me walk away is not pinning me. I shouldn't be able to move. I shouldn't be able to escape. Again." Your expression was solemn as you waited.
Izuku shook his head, facing you but refusing to engage. "I already won, I'm not sparring again." He said stubbornly.
"You'll stop when I say you can stop!" You ordered. "Now get in posi-"
Your breath was knocked out of you. You blinked and he had moved, his arm hooked around your waist and locked from escape. Your feet left the ground and suddenly everything stopped. You opened your eyes and Izuku had both of your arms pinned above your head. Your back was pressed to the ground with Izuku weight straddled over your hips. He seemed smug as you attempted to wiggle out unsuccessfully.
"Now can we stop?" He asked.
You smirked and laughed. "Now that's how you fucking pin!"
He was surprised by your complete joy in the manner, but loosened his grip. You shoved him off, still sporting a large grin, and jumped to your feet. Stretching, you walked leisurely towards the exit of the training area. You hadn't broken a sweat, yet Izuku still huffed for breath.
"Dinner is gonna be soon!" You chirped. "Kurogiri is cooking because he lost a bet. So meet me at my room in about an hour. May I suggest a shower?"
Izuku nodded. "Ha ha. Very funny. Might I suggest a nap to you? You have enough bags on your eyes to satisfy a shopping mall." He shot back wittily.
You laughed before realizing his intent. Pinching your arm, you realized your reaction was slow. You were due for another injection. "I'll worry about myself newbie. Just try to scrub the stench off of you while I'm gone."
You looked at Izuku and for a moment, but only a flicker, he looked like the kid that so easily trusted you at UA. He was cute when he smiled. But then it was gone and you were left with blushing cheeks and a cold stare to meet your own. "What?" He asked.
You averted your eyes and sped away, almost sprinting towards your room. He could have kept up easily, but he didn't seem to care enough to. Your feet danced into your room and you slammed the door shut before flopping on your bed. It felt soft and inviting beneath you, but you shook your head as your stood suddenly. In a mirror you looked at your sunken eyes and sneered. "Fun fun fun..." you sneered. Opening a drawer, you retrived a new syringe, the elixir within familiar and still ever so off putting.
You pressed around your arm, then slowly pushed the needle under your skin. It was more painful, but maybe that was because you felt tired. That must be why Izuku poked through for a moment. The real Izuku, not your puppet. You emptied the syringe into your blood and bandaged the site.
Your eyes still appeared sunken, but your mind instantly lit with thought. For a moment you considered applying cosmetics, but after dinner you would be retreating to your room anyway. A polite knock warning you to hide away the syringe before a new character barged through the door. Based on the numerous hands, you knew exactly who it was. "(Y/N)." He said breifly, as he approached.
You relaxed and brushed past him to make sure the door was locked. "Father," you parroted in the same monotone voice before smiling. "What's up?" You asked.
"How is Izuku progressing?" He asked, not playing around in the slightest. Your heart sank slightly, but you smiled all the same and motioned vaguely in the direction of Izuku's room.
"Small Might is actually already pretty strong. When handicapped, he was able to pin me earlier. Granted it took forever because he was studying me but I can assume that years of fanboying over All Might means he won't take as long to strike." You reassured.
"And your quirk?" He pushed.
"The serum is working well, but the duration is a bit shorter than calculated. Maybe it's because he has a more complex mind than most of my victims, but either way I can tough it out."
He nodded. "That is good. I'll see if I can get a more effective serum in the works for you. We don't want our pawn defaulting. Continue to work with him. The enhancement will be done in a weeks time. Then we will strike." He informed.
You nodded with a grin and he turned back to the door. For a moment you felt sad. It spilled through your mouth in the form of a sarcastic comment. "What? No kisses or hugs from daddy?" Your tone was a tad too serious.
He faltered, hesitating as he looked back at you. You could feel your insides wilting but your face betrayed nothing. "Now is no time for games. Especially not when we are so close to our goal."
"I know father. I was just... nevermind. Sorry." You muttered, quietly as you stole a glance at your mother's picture.
Your father turned to the door and twisted its handle open. He left without another word and there was silence. You sighed as you picked up the picture with your mother. Your thumb stroked the smooth glass over your mother's tired, but happy face. He was smiling in this picture. So were you, as much as a chubby baby face could allow. "I love you too." You whispered, reciprocating words you nearly never heard.
You put the picture back and looked about your room. Suddenly, food didn't seem so appetizing and you wanted to get away. You threw on your hoodie and laced up your sneakers. On a sticky note, you scribbled 'Out for a bit' and stuck it to the outside of your door.
Nodding in approval, you locked your door and left the building. It was approximately 6:30 as you left the alley, pumping your arms at your sides as you lept into a fluid jog. People on the sidewalk parted for you, barely sparing so much as a glance as you jogged through. At cafes, groups of people sat together, eating small baked goods and drinking tall coffee. In the resturants, legions of families and gatherings sat together. They all smiled.
You watched as a baby boy shrieked with laughter, kicking wildly in his highchair as his parents rushed to quiet the joyous child. The fathers hushed him gently as he coaxed a bottle to the infant, who grabbed it violently and began to chew on the rubber nipple. He smiled as he rustled the childs hair. It was so happy...
His mother, a plain looking woman but with warm brown eyes and a wide grin, lifted the baby and cradled him against her body. He yawned as she rocked him. The father leaned over the table to whisper nothings to the child, but your eyes stuck to the mother.
The baby gripped her finger in a small, weak hold. She smiled, gently and lovingly at him. Her expression was soft and tender. Your chest lurched as you felt moisture slip down your cheeks. A shaking breath escaped you and you choked back a sob. A stranger's hand rested on your shoulder, the distance echo of 'Ma'am' bouncing in your head.
Instinct snapped as you shoved away the person roughly, yelling, "Don't touch me!" With a cracking voice.
The world shattered as you heard him fall and a collection of gasp follow in suit. You looked down at him in horror as people stopped around you to watch. The family broke its scene to look at what you'd done.
"I ruined it." You whispered, biting down on your lip and sputtering. "I ruined the family...."
Your voice squeaked as you turned abruptly and ran away from the bustling part of the city. Tears mixed with the cool evening air to sting at your eyes. Your legs pumped quickly, your veins filled with adrenaline as you pushed yourself faster and faster. You wanted to escape, even if just fot a moment. Your phone buzzed in your pocket but it's alarm fell upon deaf ears.
You saw it replay in your mind, the countless times your father brushed you off. The number of times he chose the title 'weapon' over daughter in your regard. The picture of a different Tomura. The one that could've been a man, his wife and his daughter all together in a happy family. Moments before she died, because of you.
"I ruined the family." You choked.
You tripped, tumbling into a park. You didn't bother to check for injuries, consumed in another one of your ever-hated 'episodes'. Most often you spent your insanity alone, but this time it happened in public. You wanted to curl up and shrink away. To disappear.
You stood and dragged yourself to a bench, not sitting on the oak seats but leaning against the polished sides. You wept quietly into your arms, throwing your pity party far far away from anyone it would affect.
"Hey, are you okay?" A tender voice asked.
