Chapter 16

"My dear Kinn, you never learn..." Kim said before turning to him and his brother in law. Porsche was visibly irritated by Kim's nature, but there wasn't much he could do, he was only in charge of the minor family after all. Kim sat down and sipped the herbal tea on the corner of his desk, he took a deep breath and then he continued his monologue:

"Do you remember why our dear father decided to make me the chief of the major family? No? Well, allow me to explain that: you're too impulsive, you don't act like a leader, more like an animal. Why should we act now? Did he discover anything? No. Is there anything to discover? Not at all. This is the mindset you have to acquire if you want this case to be closed smoothly"

"You selfish bastard! You only think about your profits! Admit it, you don't even care if Porchay gets hurt, the only important thing is to keep your family name clean, isn't it!?" Porsche stood up and yelled at him. Kim glared at him and slapped him in the face. Kinn couldn't accept an offense like that, so he jumped up too and grabbed his younger brother by the neck.

"Come on, choke me to death if you think that I'm not protecting Porchay at all costs..." Kim said smirking, even though the tight grip on his throat was rapidly leaving him out of breath. Kinn let him go and looked away.

"That's what I thought... Porsche, don't ever try that again, I love your brother, I'll do whatever is necessary to make him the happiest person on Earth, not only because he deserves it, but because I have a debt that I will never be able to pay back! So I don't accept that you come here to accuse me like that! Is it clear? Now get out... and make sure that the minor family got rid of all the traces..."

Charn was feeling slightly frustrated, there wasn't a viable option at that moment to see the deep reason behind the eternal battle between his client and Thatthep. He quickly thought again about Nawin's route, he only had to see if it was just rumors, or if there could be something real.

The lawyer decided to investigate the aggressor. He couldn't interrogate a dead body, but he could inspect some of the evidences found on the place of the aggression. Deep down Charn hoped the criminal to be a Japanese immigrant, much easier to link to the Yakuza of the region, but at the same time he knew that such a well organized association wouldn't risk like that for no reason.

The aggressor was a Thai construction worker, his criminal record wasn't clean at all, but it looked like he was trying to get a new life recently. It was quite easy to find out that the worker was struggling financially, however he somehow managed to pay most of his debts in the last few weeks of his life, even though there were still some debtor asking for money... maybe he really earned that money or maybe he was just trying to hide that he received a large sum of money.
