Your hands gripped your younger sisters, the two of you running down the dirty alleyways and away from the torturous man that tailed behind you. Your eyes were set dead ahead, the bustling city just beyond your reach.

Tears pricked at your eyes at the thought of being free of the bandages and chains you rattled in daily, needles and pain being the meals they fed to you. Just before you reached the street, you crashed into someone, sending you and your sister tumbling back onto the concrete.

Both you and Eri stared up at what you had knocked into, realizing two pairs of eyes were on the two of you. A bright pair of green ones glimmered with the kind of concern a brother would hold. The other's bright blue eyes sparkled with surprise, unsure of the situation that was presented to him.

The green-haired boy knelt down, his gaze questioning. "Sorry! That must have hurt..!" The boy moved a hand forward, causing both Eri and me to flinch back. The action, I knew, was something Eri and I feared along with the wolf that was continuously hunting us down. He seemed to realize his actions had shaken Eri up much more than she had previously been. "Can you stand? Are you okay?" He reached forward, lifting Eri off the ground ever so slightly. Izuku's eyes widened ever so slightly, a mere few thoughts racing through his head.

You stared them up and down, realizing how toned both of the males were. "A-Are you guys h-heroes..?" Your voice shook vigorously, your muscles tensing at the echoing footsteps that bounced off the alley walls behind you.

"Now, you know..." A voice crackled from behind you. Your shaking ceased, though Eri flinched. Your head turned ever so slightly, eyes flickering to the figure that stalked out of the alley. "You two can't go around causing trouble for heroes."

Izuku's eyes widened, the memory of Sir Nighteye's words and warnings of this telltale figure. His signature plague doctor mask covered his nose and mouth. His auburn colored hair shifted softly in the wind, giving his bright yellow eyes a tinge of malice.

Mirio watched, feeling helpless to stop the fear that wracked your body of the unknown figure that lurked in the dark and caused so much fear in the hearts of the children. Looking at you know, He realized you were no child; Perhaps a year younger than him.

He flicked the green-haired boy's hood back over his fluffy hair. "Your hood and mask came off again." He said. "Maybe the sizing is off?" The blonde stepped forward, smiling. "We're sorry, too, for bumping into her." Izuku's eyes visibly widened on the blonde as if something clicked in his mind. He looked down, emerald eyes on Eri. "What a lovely mask! You must be from the Hassaikai, Right?" Mirio asked. "You guys are famous around here."

"Yes, Don't worry about the mask." Overhaul spat, his voice absent of anything that would be considered intimidating or incriminating. "I am sensitive to filth." He paused. "It's my first time seeing you two heroes."

"Right!" The blonde spoke with a tinge of nervousness in his voice, though, to you, it sounded incredibly fake. With every second, you inched closer to Eri and the, still unknown to her, hero. "We're still new, so we're pretty nervous!" He scratched the back of his neck before nodding to his partner. "Now stand up, partner! Let's head towards the future we haven't seen yet!"

Despite his best efforts, you noticed the blonde's eyes shift to Overhaul. The invisible gears in his mind seemed to be twisting, clinking together as ideas and notices flooded his subconsciousness.

"What agency do you belong to?"

His hands flew up. "We're students! We're still so new that it would be presumptuous to identify with an agency. We're just gaining some experiences in different places for our internships." He stated. "Anyway, we need to finish patrolling this division by lunch. Let's go!"

He began walking away, beckoning for the green hero to follow him. By now, you were beside him, eyes shining fearfully at the man that stood before them. The Hero nodded. "Right!" Before he could move, I flinched. Eri gripped his hero costume even tighter, the two of us shaking.

Eri leaned into his chest to hide the tears that pricked at her eyes. "D... Don't go..." Her voice shook tremendously, fear racking her body. The green hero's eyes visibly widened and immediately, the tension grew thick.

"U-Um... Your daughters... seem scared..." He said.

Overhaul's sharp eyes narrowed. "It's because they just got a scolding." He said. You had never realized how good of a liar he was until now. The blonde hero called for his partner once more, but he didn't listen. One of his hands reached over and grabbed onto one of yours protectively, his other resting on the back of Eri's head.

Eri grips the green costume harder, the few tears that pricked at her eyes dripped down her face, fear flashing in her eyes. His emerald eyes flickered to your own bandages. They wrapped around your upper arms. Bandages were barely visible around your waist and calves. "Their bandages don't seem like their from playing too much..." The hero mutters.

"They fall a lot." Overhaul seemed to be running low on his pathetic excuses. He waved his arms around nonchalantly. The grip on my hand tightened, the determined emerald green eyes of the hero glared up at the male.

"I don't think that's normal." He said, an overwhelming emotion in his voice.

Overhaul's eyes twitched in a forced irritation. "Please don't force your own 'normal' onto other people's families." He spat, his voice low.

The blonde hero's voice broke you from the darkened glare of the villain before you. "Everyone has different dispositions, right?" Your red eyes met his.

Mirio almost felt his heart shatter at the sight of the emotion-filled eyes; Full of the fear he claimed he was there to rid civilians of. He forced himself not to sweep the girl away and off somewhere safe. He had to follow Sir's orders. He repeated those words, too. He furrowed his brows, willing for Izuku to just drop it.

Silence rose once again and the tension merely followed, growing thicker and thicker with each second that trickled by. Izuku's grasp on Eri and my hand tightened once again, a newfound determination igniting in his eyes. "What are you doing to these girls?"

Eri's grip tightened once more as Overhaul grew silent. After a few seconds, he sighed. "Jeez, Heroes are so sensitive to the subtle signs in people, huh?" He shrugged. "Very well."

His words widened the eyes of the heroes and caused you to flinch. "It's embarrassing to talk about it. People are watching here, so will you come this way with me?" He inquired, shifting away and treading back into the alleyway.

The green hero looked at the blonde who nodded. Before they strode away, the blonde looked my way and held out a gloved hand. I shook my head slightly, a few tears pricking at my eyes. "D...Don't trust h-him...!" You managed to speak, a sharp pain ripping through your throat.

It was obvious to the male you were in pain, but he patiently held out his hand, a goofy grin on his face. "Don't worry! You and your... sister, right? You guys will be fine. We're here!" He shone a closed eye grin.

You looked down the alleyway you had previously been running down before grabbing the hero's hand weakly, allowing him to tug you to your feet. He was quite careful for someone of his stature.

As he walked away, you snatched his hand weakly, earning a surprised look from the male. You fell behind slightly. "Actually, Recently, I've had a lot of trouble with Eri and Y/N," Overhaul said. "They keep defying me no matter what I say."

"Parenting, Huh? It must be hard." The blonde said. You didn't realize just how much you were shaking until then. The hero whose hand you held in your own seemed to notice it, too.

"Yes. Children are hard to understand." Overhaul said crudely. One of his gloved hands moved down to the other one, lifting the fabric off his skin. "They fell like they can and will become someone..." Both mine and Eri's eyes widened, fear once again speeding through our body. "They seriously think..."

He shifted enough so his glowing yellow eyes glared into yours and Eri's red ones. Eri immediately pushed away from the young hero that held her. I followed hot on her trail, sliding my hand out of the soft grip of the hero.

"Huh?" the two heroes stare at you and Eri as you raced towards the male, your bare feet slapping the concrete. You ran up beside him, Eri on the other.

"What, Done with your tantrum already?" He inquired snarkily, eyes glaring down at you. You nodded, not uttering a word.

"Huh? Um, Eri? Y/N...?" The younger of the two heroes sputtered, obviously confused.

"They're always like this." Overhaul said matter of factly. "I'm sorry you had to listen to my problems, too." He bowed his head in forced politeness. "Sorry for the trouble." He turned away, resting a hand on both yours and Eri's backs. "Well, Do your best at work."

"Wait--" His voice echoed off the walls as you were led away, fear bubbling in your stomach at what trouble you and Eri were destined for now. All you knew now was that, for you, tomorrow might not arrive.

"Well then, let us begin." Bubble Girl cheered, though it was more or less an announcement spoken through that bubbly voice of hers. "Those of us from Nighteye Agency has been conducting an independent investigation into the designated villain group known as the Shie Hassaikai for about two weeks." she began.

"What prompted this?"

"An accident involving a gang of thieves called the Reservoir Dogs." Bubble Girl explained.

"I heard about that."

Bubble Girl began to speak once again. "The police wrote it off as an accident, but there were a number of points that didn't make sense, so we began tailing them."

"I, Centipeder, conducted a follow-up investigation. In my investigation, I found that, In the past year, The members of Shie Hassaiki have increased contact with those outside of their organization and other groups involved with shady businesses, moving with the aim of expanding their organization and increasing their funds." Centipeder's eyes narrowed, his bug-like head lowering ominously. "And soon after beginning the investigation," A new picture appeared on the big screen behind Bubble GIrl, Centipeder, and Sir Nighteye. " He was in contact with a member of the League of Villains, Jin Bubaigawara, Villain Name: Twice." He explained. "They were wary of being tailed, and I was unable to follow them, but with the help of police, I was able to confirm that an altercation had occurred between the two organizations."

"Since the league was involved, they also reached out to Tsukauchi and me." Gran Torino said.

"Where Is Tsukauchi?" The hero beside the old fart asked.

"There were some other eyewitness reports to look into, so he went to check them out." Gran Torino explained with a grumble. His dull yellow eyes locked with Izuku's. "Kid, I didn't think it would end up like this. I'm afraid I've pulled you into something troublesome."

"I don't think of it as troublesome!" Izuku said defensively.

"You know him?" Mirio inquired, tilting his head slightly.

"Oh, yes. He took care of me during my internship..."

The room grew with chatter, a look of amazement passed from the spikey red-head to the fluffy green-haired boy.

"Please continue." Sir Nighteye spat impatiently, his glasses gleaming.

"So, Toga-San has decided that a lot of this information is unimportant so she's gonna skip some of it--"

"You can skip that part," Centipeder stated impatiently.

"Right!"

"We suspect one of the Hassaiki's main sources of income is unauthorized drugs." Nighteye's voice cuts through the ongoing chaos. "So I requested the help from heroes who are well-versed in those matters.

"I would say something but Toga-San is fed up with typing out my words!" Fatgum crushes the candies in his hands. "On the night of Red Riot's debut, Tamaki was hit with a bullet I had never seen the likes of before... A bullet that destroys quirks."

Shock echoed off the walls of the room. "Destroys Quirks?"

Mirio stands up, slamming his hands down on the table. "What?! Tamaki, you're okay, right?" He questioned, shock and worry blared in his bright blue eyes.

"Yeah, I recovered after I slept. Look at his cow hoof." He said, raising up what used to be his right arm but was now a fully functional cow hoof.

"I feel better knowing that you can recover from it." Rock Lock said. "So it's not gone for good?"

"No," Nighteye said plainly, gesturing to Aizawa. "We will hear from Eraser Head on the matter." He explains, his eyes shifting to the tired-looking teacher.

"It seems to be a little different from my Erasure since I don't attack the Quirk itself." He began. "The Quirk is an extra part with a special function added to a basic human body. Those 'extra parts' are lumped together as Quirk genes. I can only stop those genes temporarily and cannot directly harm them." It was obvious he had gotten little to no sleep whilst researching the Quirk in question, seeing as the bags under his tired eyes were a lot more prominent.

"Right after Tamaki was shot, We had the hospital take a look at him." Fatgum began speaking once again. "His quirk genes were damaged. Thankfully, they healed on their own and he's now back to normal."

"What about the analysis of what was shot into him?" Nighteye asked.

"There was nothin' wrong with the rest of his body." He concluded. "It was only his Quirk that received any damage, and the guy who shot him isn't sayin' anythin' either!" He spread his arms out, anger bubbling in his mustard yellow eyes. "The gun's in pieces and the only bullet we had was the one that'd been shot!" He looked around, now wearing a confident smirk. "But thanks to Kirishima's brave actions that led to one bouncin' off his body, we were able to get one still filled with the drug!"

Kirishima looked surprised as his classmates began congratulating him, smiles and words of encouragement being spoken to the spikey red-head.

When Fatgum spoke again, his voice was no longer filled with the pride he held for Kirishima. Instead, his tone was dark; Anger and venom spilling into his words. "And after analyzin' the contents, we discovered somethin' that made me sick." He said, his eyes glaring around at the heroes and students that stared back expectantly. "Human blood and cells were inside."

The tension in the room grew quickly, silence filling the gap of the wordlessness and pure dread that everyone felt at once.

In other words, that effect came from a person... Someone's Quirk?" Ryuukyuu asks, rubbing her arm. "Quirks that destroys and enhance other Quirks."

"Hmm... I'm not really sure I'm following this." Another Hero says, his brown spikey hair sticking out from the back of his alien-esque mask. "How is this related to Haissaikai?"

"The man Kirishima captured and the illegal drug the guy used. The distribution channels for things like that are complex. It's gotten a lot smaller these days, but various people and organizations sell them wholesale until they finally reach the end-user." Fatgum explained. "Indeed, there is no proof that the Hassaikai handled the goods, but they did interact with one of the intermediaries!"

"That's it?" A hero spoke out.

"The other day, when Ryuukyuu's team broke up a fight between two villain groups, controlling one of the groups was the intermediary dealer organization," Nighteye said.

"One of the two that turned giant had been given an inferior drug that didn't last very long." Ryuukyuu finished for him. "The other consumed some sort of drug that made his Quirk a lot stronger..." Her voice faded off, concern evident in her speech.

"There have been a rash of gang-related crimes recently, and most could be connected to the Hassaikai if you tried hard enough." Another hero spoke out.

"It sounds like you're trying really hard to make the Hassaikai guilty." Another reasoned. "Don't you have something that implicates them more obvious?"

The image of Overhaul's face clicked onto the screen, a few gasps escaping Mirio and Izuku. The pair's eyes were now glued to the screen, eyes wide.

"The young head, Chisaki's quirk is Overhaul," Nighteye said. "His power lets him disassemble and restore things. A quirk that can break down and reassemble things, and bullets that can break down Quirks and make them much, much stronger."

Izuku's and Midoriya's faces went pale, their eyes wide and their hearts pounding in their ears. Dread filled their stomachs as thoughts swam through their heads, new fears that their ideas were, perhaps, true.

"Chisaki has two daughters who go by the names of Eri, his youngest, and her older sister, Y/N. There are no records or details about either's birth whatsoever, but when Mirio and Midoriya encountered them, they both had a large number of bandages wrapped around their limbs, the oldest seeming to have the greater account of injuries."

"Don't tell me something so horrific..." Ryuukyuu muttered, her dragon-like eyes narrowing in disgust.

"It's a society of superhumans. If you can dream it, you can do it..." Gran Torino muttered in what sounded to be anger.

"What?" Kirishima asked innocently. "What are you talking about?" He looked up at Fatgum, his ruby eyes wide in confusion.

"Are you sure we need the kids?" Rock Lock insisted once again. "I'll only say this once. We're wondering if this Chisaki bastard is turning his daughter's bodies into bullets and selling them."

Kirishima's face morphed into that of dread, his expression mortified. "N-No way...!"

"We don't know if he's actually selling the bullets. At their current stage, their efficiency is still too uncertain. However..." His golden eyes glared up to meet the multitude of eyes that were raised to meet his. "If they're at the test stage, and he's using them as samples to gather more to his cause... There is no hard evidence. But he's gathering people and funds across the nation... If the completed drug would be able to completely destroy someone's quirk...?" Nighteye's voice lowered, an edge creeping into it.

"I'm sure they'll have many ideas for using this."

"Just imagin' it makes my blood boil!" Fatgum's hands clenched into fists, anger and hatred burning in his eyes. "Let's go find him right now!"

Rock Lock tsked. "Wouldn't this have been resolved already if those two had just taken the child?" His brown eyes glared beside him at the two heroes-in-training.

Their eyes were squeezed shut, though they were overshadowed by the anger they felt towards themselves for letting the two girls slip away.

"I take full responsibility for what happened." Nighteye proclaimed. "Please, do not blame them. Even though they didn't know the full story, both acted to save the girls."

Izuku's jaw clenched, a bead of sweat slipping down his face. "Midoriya was willing to bear the risk of taking her then. But Mirio thought ahead and acted to try again when the odds were better." Mirio's heart thumped in his chest at the flash of memory provided by his head, the wide, tearful eyes of the elder sister staring up at him.

Izuku's and Mirio's fists clenched, both males mentally cursing themselves. They could have saved them! They were right in their arms, and they let the two tortured girls slip away into the shadows. "The ones most frustrated here right now are these two." Nighteye pressed.

Thud

"We will definitely take Eri and Y/N next time!" Izuku shouted, both his and Mirio's hands slamming onto the table.

"And protect them!"

"Excuse me..."

You whirled around beside Chrono, eyes wide.'M-Mirio?!' You thought, your mind already racing whilst confusion ignited in your ruby eyes.

A few beads of sweat trickled down the young hero's face, his brows furrowed. "But can I ask you some questions...?"

Overhaul shifts to meet his gaze, his sharp yellow eyes glaring into the male's blue ones. "You shouldn't have been able to get here so fast." He said, obvious annoyance dripping from his voice alongside the venom.

"I took a shortcut." He said, catching his breath. it was obvious he hadn't stopped for a single second to reach us. "I'm here to rescue those girls."

Overhaul lowered his head. "Now that you know the situation, you're putting on your hero mask, huh?" His dull yellow eyes flashed open, almost seeming to glow. "Mr. Student."

You shrunk closer to Eri, who was held tightly in Chrono arms. You remembered the day the two of you had first met. You had been the one to warn him of the dangers, but he neglected the truth of the obvious statement.

"Back then, You were pretending not to see, weren't you?" Overhaul said in an unusually calm demeanor. "These girls don't want you to rescue them. To them. you are not a hero."

Your bright ruby eyes squeezed shut, hiding in the shadow of the male that held your sister.

Mirio's eyebrows furrowed. "That's why I'm here."

"I'm not getting through to you. Let me make this a bit simpler." Overhaul turned around, the heels of his shoes clicking on the ground. Mirio lunged forward, though his movements immediately seemed sluggish.

Chronos began to walk away behind Overhaul, following after him like a dog to his master; Loyally.

Mirio stumbled to the ground, his hands immediately acting to support himself as he kneeled down. "W-What?!"

You stood there, listening to the clicking of shoes as they echoed down the hallway, another voice mixing with the now unsilenced and echoing. "Are you sloshed?!" A familiar enough voice spat drunkenly from above.

"Y/N," Chrono called through his bird-like mask. You whirled around, silently padding after the three that had nearly disappeared. Your ruby eyes met Mirio's blue ones before your bare feet brought you back to Chrono. He held a hand at your back, urging you forward as the beginnings of a fight echoed off the once silent walls.

Before long, the silence returned. Chisaki whirled around, eyes widening when no sign of the hero was found. Both of his lackeys had obviously failed, the two of them doubled over on the ground.

"Chisaki!" Faster than your eyes could follow, Mirio slid out from the ground. He threw his fist at Overhaul, just skimming his cheek. His leg, however, flung right at Eri's face. Just before it made contact, though, it passed right through her. Before it passed through Chrono too, It solidified and nailed him where his eyes were hidden by the plague mask, sending him flying towards the knocked out lackeys.

You tumbled towards the wall, your back coming in contact with the cold surface. Mirio lunged forward and grabbed Eri, holding her tightly in one arm. The other wrapped around your waist and held you close to his chest protectively.

"Why...?" Eri muttered, her voice shaking. She squeezed her eyes shut, a few tears pricking at her eyes.

"You can't be here... He'll kill you!" You squeaked, your own ruby eyes pricking with tears, fearful for the young hero. "Y-You're going to get yourself killed!"

"I will never make you sad anymore. It's fine!" He encouraged, his grip on you and Eri visibly tightening. "I will become your hero!"

Overhaul wavered, eyes glaring up at the metal ceiling in disgust as he wiped away the grime that had touched his skin. "How filthy..." He rubbed away at his exposed skin whilst he spoke. "Come back, Eri. Y/N." He growled. "Killed? How many times to I have to tell you two? You break people. That's how you were born!"

"N-No! Mirio!" You ushered, the panic in your voice rising.

"No... You shouldn't...!" Eri's voice echoed the panic and stress that was etched into yours. Her hand pressed against the metal '1,000,000' on the front of his suit pathetically.

"You don't have to listen to him."

Chisaki's eyes glowed as his arm lowered. "Aren't I always telling you two? I have to get my hands dirty because of the two of you and your selfishness." His piercing yellow eyes narrowed. "Each and every action the two of you take kills people. You both are cursed."

Mirio grit his teeth, unable to withstand the cruel man's words. "How can you say that to your own children?!" He yelled, anger bubbling in those brilliant blue eyes of his.

"Huh?" Overhaul bent down. "Oh, I see. That's the story I told you..."

"I don't have any children." His voice was dark and laced with venom as he lifted up the glove that once covered his opposing hand. Mirio's eyes widened as Chisaki's quirk activated, the concrete floor spiking up, the needle-like tips tunneling straight towards us.

Mirio jumped up, Hopping from spike to spike in an attempt to keep both me and Eri safe.

Overhaul stood frozen on the spot, giving Mirio the chance to jump down from the death that most certainly would have awaited most. "He didn't even care that they were here...!" He muttered to no one in particular.

"Yeah, it wouldn't have been an impediment even if they broke." The ground split once again, dust and chunks of concrete hitting at both mine and Eri's faces. "If I put either or back right away, I can revive them. Even if they didn't keep their shape, I could put them back the way they were." His eyes sparked under the shadows that were cast over them.

"But they should already know that firsthand."

Mirio's face ignited in anger, his blue eyes darkening with an unseen rage. Such a fate surprised you, never having seen someone so determined to save another.

Overhaul's ungloved hand hit the ground again, the concrete shooting up once more. The spikes skimmed past us, the air shifting and changing with every narrow escape with our lives. "What'll you do if Y/N or Eri gets injured?" Overhaul asks, his voice laced with a taunting venom. "Under these conditions, I'm the only one that can heal them."

Mirio took the river of monologue as a slight few seconds of a break, kneeling down on the solid ground.

"I've sealed off your escape." Overhaul pointed out. "You won't be able to run away using Permeation if you're holding Eri and Y/N." Something in his voice almost seemed cocky; Perhaps he had the crude image of his winning at this wonderful little game of chess. "Are you going to fight me, Mr. Student?"

Your eyes flickered over to the sound of a gun cocking, Chrono just visible through the barrage of spikes that littered what was now a battlefield.

Mirio's eyes were set dead ahead, his mind racing and creating situations in which he could escape with both of us alive.

"Blockhead, Aim for the arms." Overhaul ordered.

"I didn't think he'd be using his Quirk so precisely." Chrono spat, his arm still raised to meet his target at point-blank. "He must have trained very hard."

"Break the spikes to eliminate his screen." Overhaul muttered. As he said, the spikes on the field shattered. Mirio ducked his head in to not only protect his eyes but to protect Eri's face as well.

Your hands covered your own, not needing any more protection from the hero-in-training. In fact, just his assistance made you feel guilty. He wasn't supposed to be here; He was supposed to be with everyone else, attacking the rest of the Yakuza grunts and lackeys. This, you knew. He had knowingly risked his life coming to save you and Eri, and although you didn't like it, you were incredibly grateful for his heroism.

"Sorry about this." Mirio smiled. His cape flung over the two of us, He held me evermore closer to his chest as the gunshots rang out, slicing through the air and the bright red cape he wore.

"I thought a hero's cape was just them trying to look cool."

Chisaki's eyes widened, his glare shifting to a wide-eyed stare as he turned to his companion. "Chrono!" He yelled. His ungloved hand gripped the rocky ground. The flooring around Chrono rose. He had the chance, to leap out of the way as Mirio appeared, the punch he had prepared missing and instead, chipping away at the rocks.

The gun that was previously stationary in Chrono's hand skidded away, clacking to the ground. Chrono rolled to the ground, the male immediately pushing himself to his feet.

"Sorry, Overhaul!" Chrono called. "If only this hero would give up... Giving Toga-San a run for her money with all this writing, you know!" He blabbered on.

Overhaul's eyes flickered back to the cape that belonged to the blonde hero. A thought clicked in his mind, and his hand flew down and slammed into the rocks. Before his Quirk could even activate, Mirio flung himself at the Yakuza leader, his fist slamming right through his hand and into his cheek. "That's the kind of guy you are, right?!" Mirio yelled.

"A hero puts on his cape so he can use it to wrap up two hurting girls who are suffering and in pain!" Determination flashed in his eyes.

Your arms wrapped around Eri, hugging her close to your chest as the two of you looked on with wide ruby eyes. Eri's white hair strung around your arms. A few tears trickled down your cheeks, your heart thumping in your chest.

He flipped around as Chrono made a move on the metal weapon that laid in solitude on the rocky floors. A kick to the stomach sent the villain flying.

The gun's magazine clicked, both it and the body of the gun clattering to the ground and once again out of the reach of the villains.

Overhaul made another move, lunging forward. Mirio did the same, disappearing under the ground before leaping back into the midst of battle. He sent a punch at Overhaul's jaw, the attack landing as he morphed into the ground again.

"I won't let you lay another finger on them! I'll take you both down at once!" Mirio yelled. "You've lost, Chisaki!"

You felt Eri shift in front of you, a tiny gasp escaping her as a steady flow of tears trickled down your cheeks.

"Don't use my name so casually..." His voice was a bit more than a whisper, his eyes glinting with malice. "I've already thrown that name away!"

"Master!" The male from before yelled, crawling out of a little crack in the wall like a hermit crab.

"Nemoto! Shoot!" Overhaul acted upon his words quickly, using the little time he had for Mirio's confusion to throw the crimson box towards the gunman. It clattered to the ground, a bullet rolling just beside Nemoto's hand.

He immediately snatched the Quirk-Erasing bullet, immediately shoving it into his revolver. He aimed it weakly at Mirio, his hands shaking. "Those were his true feelings." He realized. "Master needs me. I must give my life..." His finger hovered over the trigger. "And walk by his side..." He struggled, his mind reeling with conclusions and decisions, thinking about the possibilities if he missed his intended target.

Mirio's eyes widened. He whirled around, his footsteps almost soundless as he raced to your aid.

With a swift movement, the gun was aimed at you and Eri, a loud gunshot echoing though what was now a cavern.

It all seemed to move in slow motion. Eri immediately turned and cowered into your chest. Instinctually, you pushed her away. She rolled onto the cold floor, her ruby eyes locked onto the identical pair you owned.

You watched Mirio lunge towards you, his ever bright smile making you lose focus in what you had intended to do.

Wrapping you into a hug, he took the bullet for you...

Or so he thought.

Not having felt the impact of the tiny thing, he pulled away from you. Your eyes were scrunched closed as your hands fell limply to your sides, a small smile on your face. "S-See...?" You raised up a hand, the red bullet sticking out of your skin. "You're not the only one who can play the hero..."

Overhaul's eyes widened, anger bubbling in those dull yellow eyes of his. Nemoto collapsed, a few tears trickling down the sides of his plague doctor-esque mask.

Both Mirio and Eri stared at you with wide eyes. "Y-Y/N!" Eri immediately wrapped her bandaged arms around your equally bandaged torso. "Y-Your Quirk...!"

Mirio stayed silent, his jaw clenching. The silence didn't last long, as a second later, he decided to speak. "Why would you do that?"

You grabbed his shoulder, forcing his eyes to lock with yours. "Mirio..." You muttered, your bright ruby eyes holding, for the first time, hope within the marbled orbs. "You have so much potential... You're gonna save so many people and be a hero in the eyes of twice that many... So please..."
