I watched in horror as the one I had loved, and thought was dead, stepped out from the dark, purple vortex.

Tears trickled down my now pale cheeks like a small stream as I took a couple steps forward, only to be dragged away by Bakugo, his voice yelling in my ear...

..but I didn't hear a word he said. My eyes were staring at the green-haired boy, the one I recognized as my best friend, his curls and freckles still framing his face perfectly. But even now, even here, in all this chaos, I saw his eyes had completely changed.

The emerald eyes I had grown to love were now polluted and shrowded in hatred and pain, and though none was directed at me, I couldn't help the aching in my chest. His lips were painted into a devilish smile, one that I had never wished of him to wear, and one that made something undesirable squirm in my stomach. Knowing that instead of the fate that had supposedly had fallen upon him was a lie and that he was alive and breathing, hurt me less than the stabbing pain of reality that pierced my chest, knowing he had become something not even Bakugo would wish upon the male.

The boy I had grown to love had been changed for the worst. He was a villain, and everyone knew it. His eyes glint with malice and blood lust. The grin he wore broke me into pieces. Not being able to run into his usually warm embrace, knowing it would no longer be the same comforting arms around me destroyed me.

My heart reacting before my head, I ran forward, ignoring the angry calls from my teacher and worried calls from my fellow students, as I ran forward, my eyes locked onto Izuku.

I skipped down multiple steps at once, throwing my arms around Izuku. He didn't resist, instead wrapping his own arms around me, spinning me around as he let out a laugh, one almost seeming to feign happiness as the sound was foreign to my ears.

He set me down, His closed eye smile almost making my knees buckle with how familiar it was.
"(Y/N)..." He breathed my name, the everpresent smile bound on his lips. "I missed you..."

A rough voice broke us from our embrace, a glare being passed from the owner. "Get on with it. We're here for more pressing matters, Midoriya." A man with pale blue hair hissed, disembodied hands gripping his clothes, face, and the back of his head.

"Right. J-join us." Izuku states plainly, his hand's gripping mine in one that seemed like iron. "Join me."

I was completely taken aback by his bluntness. I took a step back, unsure of how to react. He pulled me into his chest, resting his head upon mine. "I-Izuku..! I cant.."

"It wasn't an offer." He smirks, slithering a hand around my waist. "You're coming along whether you like it or not." When he noticed the utter panic that rose in my features, he smiled. "It's not that bad, I swear. This way, we can be together again!"

I stared at him, anger and sadness bubbling in my stomach. "Don't smile like that." I hissed as I pulled away slightly, my hands clenching into fists against his chest. "You aren't the same Izuku as before... You're not him...!" I leaned away quickly, catching the green-haired male off guard. I twisted out of his grasp and took a couple of steps backward, nearly tripping.

Izuku let out a chuckle, taking a step forward. "(N/N), Come on, Don't be like that!" He lunged, though I quickly dove out of the way and rested on my knees, a smile staining my features.

"Don't call me that!" I seethed. "You aren't the real Izuku! I-Izuku would never hurt people... Kill people... he wouldn't be standing there with a fake smile plastered on his face, working with these- these monsters!" I yelled, his smile dropping right off his face.

A sudden chill swept down my spine at the dull and unenergetic look he now wore, pure terror causing my being to shake. His piercing emerald eyes bore into your own (E/C) ones, his face suddenly becoming incredibly serious.

"I said you didn't have a choice, (Y/N)," Izuku said calmly. "You're coming whether you like it or not."

You stepped back a bit more, though it seemed like your luck had run out, as your heels now rested on the edge of the plaza, frigid water lapping at the walls mere feet from you. "I-Izuku..." You muffled through a few fallen tears, your hands flying to cover your mouth. You could have sworn his eyes softened at your weakened state. You buried your face in your hands, a few tears slipping through your fingers.

Of course, he wanted to do everything in his power to stop the pain you felt, though he hadn't the slightest idea on how to do it, being in this kind of situation. He was the one causing your fear, and the sight of you cowering in fear before him felt like enough to shatter the poor male's heart. He had let you down; the person that he cared about the most, and being the one who reciprocated those feelings, he wanted nothing more to hold you tightly in his arms again, no one else able to lay a hand on you.

"(Y/N)." Izuku holds out a hand, a sincere smile making its way onto his face. "Please. Join me."

You were quiet for a second, before taking a small step back, the tip of your shoe hanging off the edge of the plaza. "There is no you..." You uncovered your face, hands falling to your side. You pushed off the side, plunging into the mildly shallow water. Something wrapped around you, pulling you sharply to the left.

You surfaced, Letting out a relieved sigh at the sight of the frog-like girl, her tongue releasing itself from around your waist. "T...Thanks, Tsu..." I said, taking a second to survey the new surroundings and ongoing battle. Izuku was standing near the water's edge, eyes staring indecisively down at it, playing with his fingers. Without realizing it, the blue-haired male was now before you, a pair of hands reaching out towards both yours and Tsuyu's faces.

Before you could react, the male was pulled away from the two of you, a flash of green flying past as Fuck Hands McMike tumbled to the ground, the same familiar pair of red sneakers obstructing your view.

The blue-haired man hissed, standing up from his previously seeming weakened stature. "Midoriya. What the fuck are you doing?"

"We had a deal. Harming them was not part of the bargain." Izuku spits, all amusement and or affection his voice may have had with you now immediately gone and replaced with what you could only assume the statute he held around other villains.

Shigaraki tsks, one of his fingers twitching. "You could have just cost us this entire level, Quirkless." Venom laced his words as he spoke. Tsu nodded to me and covered Mineta's mouth, diving underwater, your instincts urged you to follow behind her; Of course, you didn't obey. Instead, You swam along the side until you were able to climb out of the chilled water unseen.

By the time you were out of shock from the sudden temperature change, Izuku had just dodged a slash from the League's supposed leader. You felt your legs move faster than your mind, your Quirk activating as you slammed into Izuku's side, sending you both tumbling a few feet. Unfortunately, you were slower than anticipated, as a hand pressed against your shoulder just as you had made contact with your childhood friend.

You tumbled a few feet away from Izuku, eyes clenched in agony as you felt your shoulder begin to deteriorate.

Izuku shot up from his place on the floor, eyes searching wildly for the supposed second attacker, only to see you sprawled out on the ground, clutching your shoulder. His eyes widened, a few tears pricking at them at the horrid sight of you in pain. Before either of you knew it, he was crouched by your side, his face scrunched in pain as he began to repeat to you that you were going to be okay, and how you were going to be perfectly fine and dandy, his words to fast and muddied in with others to be deemed audible. You smiled softly as the rest of your arm and shoulder began to turn to dust, your adrenaline making the pain non-existent.

"Izuku." He immediately shut up, hands clutching yours desperately. "You're back..."
