Chapter 7 - 8-Bit Blossom

SharaX got rid of my writer's block with this new info on Seris:

A Satyr, eh? Just makes things more interesting~

Cider had calmed down, mostly. He still hated Xephyr all the way to Hell, though. He went feral whenever he saw him, so we were worried he would attack him again.

Chronos was still making sense of everything. He didn't mind Xephyr. In fact, he liked having him around, afterall, Xephyr is his brother. He understood why Xephyr did what he did. He sometimes got confused as to who was who, since the only thing that told us appart was that Xephyr wore a gray and green beenie and I wore a green scarf.

Shara was okay with mostly everything. She didn't mind him, but she minded Cider wanting to kill Xeph. She was planing to land the ship on a new world similar to Undertale to gather provisions.

Xephyr himself was...curious. He liked being alive much more than being stuck in my mind. He tried to get back on Cider's good side, but it was hopeless. Cider was stuck hating him. He did his best to ignore it, though. He looked on the brighter side of things: he was free. He absolutely loved having a physical form.

I was getting used to things. I was used to having Xephyr around, but having physically beside me was something new. Cider did his best to keep me away from Xephyr, as if he thought he could attack me again. Chronos was doing his best to convince Cider that Xeph was still good, but it wasn't working.

We were currently landing on a new world. Everyone was staring through the windows, trying to get a good look at it. "What world is this?" Cider asked.

Shara shrugged. "A world with Gods, demigods, nymphs, etc.," She explained. "It's where Hex wants us to meet."

"And why do we want to meet him?" Cider asked, crossing his arms and raising an 'eyebrow'. Shara glanced at Xephyr.

"You haven't told them? Really?" She asked him. Xephyr looked away, though everyone was staring at him. "Well..." Shara sighed. "...tell them."

Xephyr was silent for a few seconds before turning to us and giving a small smile. Cider glared at him. Chronos looked curious, and I was too. Xephyr closed his eyes, as if relaxing. As soon as he did so, his body began to glitch out horribly. I jumped back in surprise as he froze up. After a minute or so, he opened his eyes again and the glitching stopped. He looked incredibly tired.

"...I'm still corrupted," He said simply. HIs eyes were pitch black, and I don't think he noticed. "It's getting worse."

"...and Hex claims to know how to help him," Shara sighed. "That's why we need to see him."

"Count me out," Cider grunted. "I'm not helping him," He glared at Xeph, who sighed.

"Cider..." I trailed off. He doesn't listen to me, or Chronos, or Shara, and especially not Xephyr himself. "..."

"...we'll be arriving soon, get ready," Shara shuffled away to land the ship, leaving the four of us alone.

I noticed how tired Xephyr looked. He looked exhausted. He trudged to the ship's entrance. I followed him, Chronos coming soon after. Shara had dragged Cider to the cockpit, ordering him to look after the ship while we were away.

A few minutes later, the ship landed. Chronos, Shara, Xeph, and I slowly made our way out, We landed in a large grassy plain, surrounded by a lush forest. "...sorry, but I've got to make sure he doesn't break anything..." Shara said sheepishly. "Once you meet Hex, give him this," She gave me a note and scurried back onto the ship before any of us could say anything. Chronos gave Xeph and I a sideways glance before starting towards the forest.

It was dark, so I walked right behind Chronos, since he had his hourglyph as a light source. Yes, even though Xeph and I no longer shared a body, I was still scare of the dark. I accidentally ran into Chronos. He had stopped dead. "What....???" I asked, slowly peering over his shoulder.

"...someone's here..."

-----???'s P.O.V-----

I trotted through the woodlands. Hex had said that an orange-eyed lady would come through here. He said to bring her to him. He said that if there was anyone with her, to bring them along as well. He said that if they attacked, to kill them immediately. Simple enough, and it was great pay.

I thought it was going to be simple, anyways.

What I didn't expect to see were three fully-grown skeletons. I stood quietly in the shadows, observing them. I was fairly interested since no one ever comes to my part of the forest unless they got lost. But these three looked like they were searching for something. They paused. "...someone's here..." The tall one said. He was in front, so I guessed he was the leader of the small group.

I armed my bow and aimed it a few inches above the tall one's head. I fired, hitting the tree right behind him, just above his skull. I grinned at their stunned expressions. "CHRONOS!" One of them exclaimed, pulling the tall one away from where I had shot. So that one is Kronos. Wait, Kronos...? God of Time? I backed farther into the trees to avoid being seen.

Well, I'm screwed over if he finds out.

Kronos must have been in a different form. Of course! The Gods and Titans change forms to fit in with the mortal world. That's why he wasn't in his Titan body... I slung my bow back over my shoulders, still watching them. I wanted to know who the other two were.

Maybe they were his servants. Or offspring. I could never keep track of the God and Titan family, it's too big. They were probably twins, based on their similarities and looks. I decided to stay back, so Kronos doesn't know I shot at him.

After following them for about an hour, I got sick of waiting. Maybe they were scouts for who Hex calls Shara. I quickly trotted in front of them, still hidden by shadows and trees. I smirked as I walked out, holding my bow tight in one hand.

"Hello, I'm Seris."

"...Seris...?" Kronos asked cautiously. I nodded. "Were you the one who shot the arrow?" He asked, his gaze narrowing.

"H-Hehehe.... D-Don't jump to conclusions, Kronos..." I said nervously.

"Chronos? How do you know my name?!" He demanded. I inched away. Mother of Zeuss---err... Mother of Kronos himself, someone help me. "Were you following us?"

I forced myself to stand straight. I noticed that the two skeletons in green were staring at my legs. So what if I was a satyr? Kronos didn't seem to care, or didn't notice. "F-Father Time, spare me. I'm only doing my job, looking for someone by the name of Shara," I told him. Kronos glared at me and the two skeletons in green held a bone(that came from thin air) in each hand. I messed up.

"Why do you want Shara?" Kronos growled. "She sent us looking for someone called 'Hex'. Do you know him?" I nodded.

"Y-Yes, Lord Cronus! I can take you to him if you desire-" He cut me off.

"Just Chronos," He said flatly. "Not Father Time-I don't know where you got that from-, not Cronus, just Chronos. My name is Chronos. These are my brothers Xephyr and Zephyr," He dipped his head, but the other two still gazed at me cautiously. "Pleasure to meet you, Seris."

My mouth had dried up. I couldn't find my words. I only nodded and motioned for them to follow me. I couldn't tell who was who -Xephyr or Zephyr-, they looked the same except one had a green scarf and the other wore a gray beanie. They were indeed twins. I was in the presence of three titans, one being Father Time himself.

After a mile or so, we arrived. I gaping hole in the ground. I was covered in thick vines to prevent anyone from finding it. I moved them away with ease and watched as they entered, still wary. or the situation.

We walked for no longer than five minutes before we arrived. The main room of Hex and I's home of tunnels. Hex was standing there, impatiently waiting. He gazed at who I had brought. "I requested you to bring SharaX, not three skeletons," He grunted.

I shivered. "T-They were sent by Shara, Hex..." I said nervously. "K-Kronos himself is here!"

"I can introduce myself," Kronos said coolly. I quickly nodded and backed away, my tail drooping. "My name is Chronos Tronic, and these are my brothers Zephyr and Xephyr. Shara has requested your help with-"

"I know," Hex said, bored. "I don't care who you are. Seris, Leave. This is private," I hesitated. "Get out, go play with your Nymphs and weeds," From that insult, I stepped forward. Hex turned to me, his eyes blazing red. "Get out. Now!" I scurried away.

I trudged outside, right next to the cave entrance. I sat down on an old rotting tree trunk and stared at the grass. Since I didn't expect any of them to come out for a while, I quietly sang. The animals liked it, though Hex didn't. Speaking of animals, a friendly deer I called bloom came up to me. She had scars on her after escaping hunters. She and a while group of deep liked to hear me sing, for some reason.

"Hey now, what's the problem? Do you feel down? Or forgotten? If your reason's, that you're not strong, well then sit down, spill your troubles. And then I'll play, pick a tempo-" At this point, I had picked my koto and started playing it. "-Here's your story, on a koto. If you can't pay, it's no problem. All I need are, 8-bit blossoms."

Various animals set different kinds of flowers around and on me, enjoying the song. "Are you worried? They're not rare though. You can see them, from your window. They tend to sow, above sorrow. Where the past meets- your reflect grows, and asks- 'What can you solve with an 8-bit blossom? Nothing at all, only 8-bit problems. Tings from the past, only few remember. Some, let-go.' I'd spent all day, hunting for these blossoms. Then here I play, in hopes I can heal them. Some wilt away, with no strength to go on, others are brought back to life though a song," A fawn curled up on my lap, whining.

"Hey now, what's the problem? Do you feel down? Or forgotten? If your reason's, that you're not strong, well then sit down, spill your troubles. And then I'll play, pick a tempo. Here's your story, on a koto. If you can't pay, it's no problem. All I need are, 8-bit blossoms," The field of flowers and blossoms around me grew. "Then ask 'What can you solve with an 8-bit blossom? Nothing at all, only 8-bit problems. Things from the past, only few remember. Others, let-go.' I'd spent all day, hunting for these blossoms. Then here I play, in hopes I can heal them. Some wilt away, with no strength to go on, others are brought back to life though a song."

I played on the koto, making the crowd of animals grow. They made their noises, making music. The chorus didn't get loud, as if the animals didn't want to drown out the sound of the koto. To others, it would sound like pure annoyance. But for me, I loved it. The chorus slowly died down.

"What can you solve with an 8-bit blossom? Nothing at all, only 8-bit problems. Things from the past, only few remember. Others, let-go.' I'd spent all day, hunting for these blossoms. Then here I play, in hopes I can heal them. Some wilt away, with no strength to go on, others are brought back to life though a song. I'd spent all day, hunting for these blossoms. Then here I play, in hopes I can heal them. Some wilt away, with no strength to go on, others are brought back to life though a song."

The odd thing about the last two verses was that there was another voice. I looked around and saw either Xephyr or Xephyr. He glanced at me and smiled wary. "Nice song."

"...thanks...?"
