Chapter 3: Sick Heroes

Tommy didn’t expect Tubbo to already be home when he and Ranboo crawled back into the apartment. The lights were on, making both wonder if someone broke in while they were out. But no, no one broke in. It was just Tubbo being too lazy to shut the window after he entered the house, now sitting on the couch typing away on his computer with a flashdrive shoved into the side of it.

He was buzzing with excitement, antena twitching and wings buzzing. “Tubs?” Tommy hesitantly called out. His friend was always scary in this state, both he and Ranboo agreeing on that fact.

The two tried to stay away from him when he was ‘in his zone’ because the last time one of them tried to distract him (really it was just Ranboo asking what the other wanted for dinner), Ranboo ended up thrown out the window by a very cranky bee hybrid. Tubbos head whipped over to them, his green eyes sparkling. “I got dirt on the heroes, it’s about Pandora's Box!” Pandora’s Box was a very secure prison, one that if you go in, you’re never coming back out. At least not alive.

They were very secretive about what prisoners they had, who was working there, and what happened behind their huge doors. Not to mention the uncrackable safety codes they had on the information that Tubbo had tried to get through multiple times before.

“Pandora’s Box? How’d you get info on that place?” Tommy asked, ripping the gas mask off of his face before moving to his jacket. Ranboo already had his cloak off, the thing draped over his arm elegantly, his other hand holding his mask. His face held a curious look as he watched Tubbo’s fingers dance along the keyboard.

“I ran into Gambler again, but this time he was tracking me down! He wanted to give me this flash drive, he claimed it had a bunch of dirt on the heroes. When I plugged it in, Pandora’s Box’s name popped up!” Tommy blinked.

“Gambler? How did he get his hands on this information…” Ranboo asked, his red and green eyes narrowed as he saw a few things pop onto his friend’s screen.

“I don’t know, but I’m looking through and… Pandora's Box has a lot more going on than we thought.” Tubbo admits. Ranboo and Tommy both sat down ready for their friend to explain. “I’ve looked through a few of these files, and they have a lot of sketchy shit going on, along with Illegal activity too.”

“What?” Tommy sat forwards.

“Yes, they have a project they are working on called ‘Convert’. It’s a project where they are basically trying to convert helpful villains into heroes.” That was strange just by itself. “But they do something a little… violent to do it.”

“What do you mean by that Tubs?” Ranboo looked worried as he spoke. This project itself didn’t sound like good news, so he understood why he seemed concerned.

“They have these… I don't know how else to describe them other than shock collars. They strap them onto the villain and basically shock the person into submission, as if trying to teach them right from wrong.” He sighed. “They uh, get rid of the ones that are not helpful or the convert doesn’t seem to work on- that or experiment on them or use them as dummies, so that’s nice.”

“Wait wait, what?” Tubbo paused again.

“Yeah, experiment or use them for training, you heard me right.” Tommy frowned.

“Is this why they’ve been so secretive about what happens inside the prison?” Ranboo asked, he looked hurt. It was no secret his mother was a villain, killed in front of his own eyes. He was a child back then, and the effects of the trauma still haunt him to this day. He saw how villains were treated first hand, he probably hated hearing news like this. “That’s horrible.” Ranboo curled farther into the couch he was sitting on.

“What can we do about it though?” Tommy asked, ears falling back as he spoke. Most villains did only want to cause problems, kill those who are innocent, or just kill the heroes and endanger the citizens in the crossfire. Some, like Ranboo’s mother, was a decent villain.

She saw a flaw and wanted to fix it, seeing as no one else was. Maybe she even found out what was happening in Pandoras Vault, and that’s why the heroes began to hunt her down only to kill her in front of the same son she wanted to protect. Tubbo looked up though, green eyes glittering with the same look he got when he came up with a ‘great idea’ that could or could not get them all killed.

“Well, now that you mention it I do know how we can help expose Pandoras vault, show people the corrupted nature of the heroes, and in the process make some new friends!” Tommy and Ranboo both gave the bee hybrid skeptical looks.

“What are you on about?” The blond growled, brow raised at his best friend.

“I’m saying, it’s time we ally with some villains.”
