A/n: Hello my fellow readers! Sorry for not updating this story in a long while, but here it is and now things will be interesting between Hokuto and Makina meaning the two won't try and kill each other. Now let the chapter begin!

Y/n's pov

Me, Hokuto, Rika and Saki were in the car heading towards, this Kogon Sect with Rika driving but she was rather annoyed by my comment from earlier and slapped me in the ally, while Saki had good laugh from not only the comment but also Rika's reaction. Hokuto on the other hand, she was looking at the red hand mark on my face with a worried expression on her face, she then gave it a light poke which I winced a bit.

Hokuto: Are you sure, you'll be fine Y/n?

Y/n: Yeah, I'm fine, Hokuto. A slap in the face is nothing too serious, plus I've been hit with worse.

I then pat her head, which Hokuto leans into my touch with a small smile while I took a glance towards the front of the car, and see that Rika was looking through the rear-view mirror and saw that her eyes were curious. But not with me, she was looking directly at Hokuto though I'm not sure why, I just hope I can get my answers.

Rika: By any chance, Y/n... Do you live with any other family members?

Y/n: No, I live alone. My parents are off on trip for their anniversary, plus I moved out and got a place of my own.

Rika: I see...

Y/n: If you don't mind me asking, why are you looking at Hokuto all surprised with the way she acts around me?

Rika: It's rather complicated and very secretive, that normal people should not know about for their safety.

Y/n: And, why take me? A normal young adult looking for an average job and live his life as much as he can?

Rika: That's why we're taking you and Hokuto, to One of the Six Sojo of the Kogon Sect. Sougen Takamine, he might want to see on how Hokuto is acting in person.

I just let out a sigh, knowing I won't get any more answers until we get to this Kogon Sect, I then put Hokuto's head on my lap and continue to pet her head, while she smiles and closes her eyes to enjoy the moment. Following Hokuto's example I just rest my eyes for the rest of the ride, which was the plan but I ended up falling asleep and seeing some kind of vision or memory.

3rd pov

-in the vision/memory-

In this vision we see a kid Y/n running through the fields of the countryside of his grandparents' house, Y/n when he was a kid was quite the curious one for his age and loves to explore the unknown. Y/n was seen walking around the woods that was next to his grandparents' field, he looks around and admires the beauty of the woods, but then he hears what is the sound of singing which the young Y/n follows the sound.

As Y/n gets closer the singing like sound, the more curious he got and wanting to know who was singing in the forest, once Y/n finally got to the source of the singing which lead him to a watering hole. And there in front of him was Hokuto, though to the young Y/n was a young woman with white hair, wearing a white and red kimono with her bare feet moving around in the water, to the young Y/n this woman looked beautiful to him with the sunlight.

As young Y/n looked onward, Hokuto then looked in Y/n's direction to her she was just looking at a young boy, but this was different once the two eyes locked on with one another Hokuto felt different than her usual Shikabane instincts. She then got up and proceeds to the young boy, who stands still keeping his eyes on Hokuto as she continued to get close to him, once Hokuto was close enough she then crouches down to be face to face with young Y/n.

Hokuto: What are you doing out here?

kid Y/n: I was just exploring the forest, but I then heard you singing.

Hokuto: I see... Did you like it?

kid Y/n: Yup! It sounded beautiful.

Hokuto: *smiles and giggles* Thanks you, do you want to hear me sing more?

Y/n: Yes, please.

Hokuto then gently took young Y/n in her arms and go back to her previous stop, her feet were back in the pond while she made sure that young Y/n was comfortable, with his head laying back in her chest. She then begins to sing again which young Y/n closed his eyes and enjoy the song that Hokuto was singing, while Hokuto's arms held Y/n comfortably and protectively as possible, during the near end of the song young Y/n opens his eyes to look up at Hokuto.

kid Y/n: Um, what's your name miss?

Hokuto: My name is Hokuto. What's yours?

Y/n: I'm Y/n, nice to meet you, miss Hokuto.

-end of vision/memory-

As the Y/n was waking up from his little nap, he notices that Rika was parked the car and taking her seatbelt off, along with Saki as Y/n was about to do the same as the female contracted monk and Shikabane Hime duo. But noticed that Hokuto was sleeping in his lap, which he found cute the way she was sleeping, but he lightly shook her to wake her up which her eyes open up to look right at Y/n's e/c eyes.

Hokuto: Are we here?

Y/n: Yup, let's see what they want. But do stay close to me.

Hokuto: Okay.

The two of them, then followed both Rika and Saki into the building which there was some monks with other young girls, that both gave Y/n and Hokuto stares from the monks and what Rika told him about Shikabane Hime. But both Y/n and Hokuto didn't let the stares phase and continue to follow Rika, which the said young lady and Saki lead them to a door then Rika knocked on the door, and wait for a reply from the other side of the door.

????: Come in.

Rika opened the door and let Y/n and Hokuto in first, which they see four people in the room for Y/n he instantly recognize the girl with long purple hair, but not a kid around his age with brown hair, a girl with lighter brown hair with glasses and a middle aged man with black hair. But for Hokuto she fully knows the first two and quickly holds on to Y/n's arm protectively, which caught the purple hair and the brown hair boy by surprised by Hokuto's action. While the middle aged man seem intrigued by the action, but draws his attention to Y/n.

middle aged man: So You are Y/n L/n?

Y/n: Yup, but how do you know my name? *slowly reaches for his knife in the back pocket*

brown hair boy: Um, I wouldn't do tha-

middle aged man: It's alright, Ouri. But how I know your name is that we have some allies in the police incase a Shikabane were to occur. But I shouldn't be rude, I am Sougen Takamine and this *motions to the girl with glasses* is Kamika Todoroki my Shikabane Hime. These two *motions to the purple haired girl and brown haired boy* are Makina Hoshimura and Ouri Kagami.

Y/n: Well, it's nice to meet you, but why are me and Hokuto are here?

Makina: Hey, we're asking the questio-

Sougen: It's fine, he deserves to know, seeing as Mr. L/n and Hokuto seem to have a bond.

This confused Y/n, while Hokuto continues to hold Y/n and glare at Makina who sends a glare back.

Sougen: Now as to why are you two here is... That how you are able touch Hokuto without being inflicted with pain and have your arm or limb broken?

Y/n: What do you mean? Does this have to do with this whole Shikabane and Shikabane Hime stuff?

Sougen: That it does. Shikabane are humans that die and come back to life due to intense regrets, and become something dangerous to humans. While Shikabane Hime are young girls that also die with intense regrets, but they can form contracts with contracted monks and fight Shikabane and kill them, which Shikabane Hime receive super human abilities such as strength, endurance and healing capabilities, when near their contracted monks.

Y/n: So, some humans can become some sort of monster, while young girls exclusively can be come these Shikabane Hime I can understand. But Why is Hokuto involved?

Sougen: As you can guess, Hokuto is a Shikabane Hime one of the strongest one in fact. But it appears she has a liking towards you, which is surprising since she used to be the leader of Shichisei group.

This surprises Y/n, but when he looks down at Hokuto he only sees a young woman, rather than some kind of monster that could kill him in less than a second, he then turns back to Sougen with a question able look.

Y/n: So, what are you going to do? Try and kill Hokuto, cause That will be over my dead body.

Sougen: *laughs* Head strong, I like that but to answer your question, I have an alternative idea atually... I want you to be Hokuto's contracted monk.

I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, now both Makina and Hokuto will have kind of a rough start when they see one another, while Hokuto will be Proctective of the reader, also I will have a new big bad for this story.
