Chapter Nineteen
I'm not sure if I said this was Corny's house, but that's Corny's house. ;)

Today was Christmas. Today was the day I'd tell Vincent that he's going to be a father. Today was the day that I could lose someone I love the most, or someone that would love me and my baby unconditionally.
I sighed. I wasn't sure if I should tell him. Honestly, I was scared. I was really, really scared. Tears flooded my vision as I looked at my stomach. My hands settled on my stomach, holding it while I imagined the baby growing inside of me.
If it's a she, I'm going to show her so much love that she's not going to know what it feels like to be neglected. She'll probably be spoiled. She will grow up to be beautiful, maybe even be popular or famous.
If it's a he, he's also going to grow up with lots of love. He might get embarrassed, but he'll still love me. I'll teach him how to be a man. He'll be just like his father.
If he stays with me.
I picked up the pregnancy test from my side table. I sat down on my bed and stared at it, wondering how I should tell him. He obviously deserves to know because he's the father.
I picked up a small gift box and placed it in there. Then, I wrapped it in wrapping paper that had little Santa's on it and put a bow on top.
This was the only way I could tell him.
I felt the nervousness run through my veins like venom. I couldn't help but let a few tears escape my eyes as I laid down on my bed, resting my head on my pillow.
I'm scared. I don't know what to do. Mom said she'll help me through it, and I trust her, I do, but I can't help but think she's disappointed in me for getting pregnant at seventeen. I'm mature enough, but I can't raise a baby.
"Hey, sweetheart. How are you holding up?" Mom asked, walking over to the bed.
I sniffled, then sat up. "I know I've said this many times before, but I'm scared, Mom. I don't know the first thing about raising a baby."
She pulled me into a hug, to which I returned. I buried my face in her neck and cried. She whispered soothing words in my ear and rubbed my back for comfort. "Shh, baby. It'll be alright. I'm here for you."
I wiped my tears off, but kept my head on her shoulder. "I know you are, Mom. But what if Vin leaves me? What if he leaves me like Dad did to you?"
She pulled back and held my face in her hands. "He will not leave you. If he really loves you, he'll stay with you and support you. If he leaves, he never loved you in the first place. He won't deserve you," Mom said.
I smiled at her. "Thanks, Mom."
"It's what a mom is supposed to do," she said with a smile. We sat in my bed for about an hour, while she cheered me up. Soon, I looked like it never happened and it felt like it didn't happen. I headed downstairs with my gifts while Mom followed.
As I put my presents under the tree, there was a knock at the door. I hugged Mom one last time and she gave me one of those mom smiles that says everything is going to be alright. I kissed her cheek before heading to the door, slowly might I add. I took a deep breath, let it go, then opened the door.
Vin gave me a big smile. "Merry Christmas, babe. I brought some gifts," he said, holding up some gift boxes.
I forced a smile. "Merry Christmas. Come in, come in." I opened the door wider and Vincent, Jace, and Janet walked in, all with big smiles.
I closed the door behind them before locking it. "So, how are you guys doing this morning?" I asked. I was trying to make small talk, even though we were going to be opening presents soon.
I sat down next to Mom on the couch, Vin on my other side. "We're doing great," Janet said. "Thank you, dear."
Vin put his arm around my shoulder. "How are you doing, babe?"
I felt the blood drain from my face. I looked at Mom who seemed to sense my worry and nervousness.
She smiled at everyone. "She's doing well. She had a hard time sleeping last night. She's just tired."
Which wasn't a lie. I couldn't sleep last night because of my thoughts about the baby. That and I was having morning sickness all day. I felt like complete and utter garage.
"Aw. Did my little baby have a hard time sleeping because I wasn't here?" Vin teased.
I forced another smile. "I guess you could say that."
We talked for a few more minutes before Jace yelled, "Present time!"
My blood turned to ice. I wasn't ready to give him my gift. I wasn't ready to tell him.
I wasn't ready to be a mom.
"Yeah. I can give you yours first," Vin told his little brother.
"Yes! Man, you're so cool," Jace said back.
Vin pulled his present for Jace out of the present pile and handed it to him.
"Ooh!" he exclaimed. "It's a medium sized gift...Kinda heavy..." he gasped. "Is this what I think it is?!"
"Open it!" Vin said.
Jace tore open the gift and his eyes lit up with excitement. "No way!" he said, pulling the gift out. "You got me a new computer?"
Vin nodded. "Yes. I know how much you want to be a YouTuber, so I got you something to go with it."
Jace pulled something else out of the box. "No way! A microphone and awesome headphones?! Man, you are the best brother ever!"
Vin hugged his little brother. "Anything for you, bro. I don't think I say this much, but I love you."
"I love you too, bro."
Next, Mom gave her gift to Janet, which was a new china set. Apparently, the one she's been wanting for a while. "Thanks, Mary. It means a lot."
"It really no problem. You're totally welcome."
Everyone else handed out their presents, including the first one I had for Vin. I gave him a ring that had our initials engraved in it, signaling our love for each other. Mom loved the new laptop, Jace loved the new light up keyboard I got to match his computer, and Janet loved the new necklace I got her.
I had gotten a few new outfits from Janet, Mom had given me an outfit and a laptop (crazy, we got the same thing for each other), and Jace gave me some earrings and a nose ring. I haven't gotten anything from Vin, though.
Once everyone got their gifts, Janet and Mom went into the kitchen to start the big Christmas dinner. I sighed when they left. I stood up to hang up my new clothes in my room, when Vin stopped me.
"Can we talk in your room?" he asked.
"Oh uh...Yeah. I'll meet you up there, okay?"
He nodded. "Yep. See you in a minute."
As he headed upstairs, I picked up the box that had the pregnancy test and held it tight. Right now, I was really going against giving it to him. I didn't want to ruin anything that we had.
"Like I said before, you'll be fine," Mom said, walking up behind me and rubbing my shoulders. "If he truly loves you, he'll stay."
I smiled. "Thanks, Mom." I headed upstairs and met Vin in my room. I hung up my new clothes before sitting down on my bed next to Vin. "So..." I drawled.
He stood up before kneeling down in front of me. "I know we've only been together for five months. It has been the best five months of my life. I know we're young now, but that doesn't mean I can't do this," he said, pulling a box out of his pocket.
He's proposing?!
WHAT?
"Before you get the wrong idea, it's just a promise ring. I love you very much and nothing can change that. This is my promise. I will propose to you some day. I promise." He said the ring onto my ring finger and hugged me.
Maybe he won't leave if I tell him.
"Actually, babe, I have...something else to give you," I said, handing him the box before I could cower out.
He stared at me in confusion before saying, "What's this?"
Tears came to my eyes. "Just open it."
He looked at me, worried, but slowly unwrapped the box. Once he opened it, a look of horror spread across his face. "Is this...?"
I nodded. "I'm pregnant," I said, hugging him tightly.
When he didn't hug me back, I knew something was wrong.
"Babe?" I said, pulling back to look at him. Tears had formed in his eyes and he looked like he was trying to form words, but he couldn't. "Babe?" I said again.
"Don't call me that," he said, his voice cracking.
My heart stopped. "W-what?" I said, the tears starting to fall slowly.
"Don't call me that," he said more sternly.
"What do you mean?" I said.
He stood up and started backing away. "Shit!!" he yelled, pulling his hands through his hair.
"Wait, baby, stop. You're hurting yourself." I reached out to stop him, but he back away even more.
"Stay the hell away from me," he demanded, waving his pointed finger at me.
"Stop! This isn't you! You're just in shock! I was too!"
"No!" he yelled. "I can't be a father. I'm too young!"
"That's what I said, too!"
"No...This can't be happening!" he shouted.
"Babe, please!"
"DAMMIT! I SAID NOT TO CALL ME THAT!" he shouted.
The tears in my eyes feel freely, as did his. "You just said you loved me and nothing would change that. This is just another obstacle in our relationship! We can handle this together!" I said, grabbing his right hand with both of mine.
He ripped his hand from my grasp. "Stay out of my life." He took the pregnancy test, that was still in his hand, and left.
I sobbed into my hand before chasing him. "Wait! Vin, please!"
We ran down the stairs and just as he was about to leave I stopped him. "Stop following me!" he yelled.
"No!" I screamed. "I will not stop following you until you accept our baby!"
"Your baby. It's not mine."
"It takes two to tango, Vincent. I didn't make this baby myself," I yelled.
We started arguing about it until Mom, Janet and Jace ran out of the kitchen. Mom stood in between Vin and I and yelled, "Hey! Stop yelling!"
We stopped yelling and glared at each other.
"What going on?" Janet said, walking to Vin's side.
"He won't accept his baby, that's what," I said, tears starting to form in my eyes again. All of my previous anger flew out the window and in its place, sadness.
"What? What is she talking about?" Janet asked.
"I'm pregnant and he knows this baby is his, but he doesn't want to accept it. He's acting as if I made this baby on my own," I said, clenching my fists.
"Is this true, Vincent?" Janet asked.
He showed her the pregnancy test. She smiled before saying, "Oh, I'm going to be a grandma!"
"So, I'm going to be an uncle? Sweet!" Jace said, a big smile making its way on his face.
"What exciting about this? I'm too young to be a father!" Vin yelled, throwing his hands out in an exasperated way.
"Grow some balls and live up to what you helped make," I yelled, my anger returning.
"It's not mine!"
"Fuck you!"
"You already did!"
"Yeah, that's how we made this baby!"
"Hey, hey. Stop yelling the stress isn't good for the baby," Mom said, trying to calm me down.
"I don't care!" I yelled.
"Yes you do. Settle down."
I took a few deep ragged breaths. "I'm sorry, Mom."
"It's okay," she said.
"Vincent, you need to help her. It's your baby too," Janet said.
"No it's not," he snapped.
I stepped forward and slapped him right across the face. "Grow a pair of mother fucking balls and take care of your child! You know it's yours! You're just in shock! I was too when I found out!"
He glared at me. "I'm out," he said before walking out the door.
"Wait!" I yelled.
He stopped in his tracks. "What?"
"What about the promise you just made me?" I said, tears threatening to escape once more. "You said nothing can change your love for me. I tell you I'm pregnant then you freak out and tell me to stay out of your life?"
He didn't say anything.
"I love you. And I know you love me," I said, gently wrapping my arms around him.
He stiffened, but didn't bother pulling away.
"Please." I laid my head on his back and held him tight. "I know how you're feeling right now."
"No, you don't," he growled, throwing my arms off of him harshly.
He walked into his house, never once looking back.
