edward midford

dear lady f/n,

in vain i have struggled to keep away my tempestuous feelings for you, but you never had left my thoughts and continue on to plague my senses. with every chime of the clock, i would think if the hour spent would be more radiant if i were in your presence. with the sight of every pea blossom, i would immediately think of you. with every match, i would hear your voice, cheering for me in the distance.

dare you be so lovely ? dare you be so captivating ? even mother's praises aren't enough for me anymore, i want to hear them for you. and only you.

you have made me selfish, yearning for you at every hour. so, my lady let myself indulge myself in this muspelheimic realm you created.

meet me by midnight, my darling.

-e. a. midford

edward came to your abode in the wee hours of the morning, coming to deliver you this letter. you invited him in, but he refused whispering a fast, "read this at noon," before taking off.

you were terribly tempted to read the letter, but being the good girl you are you did the chores, cooked for lunch, prepared for dinner and for tomorrow, fed the cats, and sat down. looking at the ticking clock in a deranged manner, yearning for the minute it would strike twelve.

a loud bong echoed and at the same time so did a girl's loud squeal.

hurriedly getting the wax seal off, and carefully opening the envelope as so to save it later. it revealed a parchment , scented with his own cologne. unfolding the parchment, a dried pea blossom fell out.

'meet me by midnight'

if f/n was excited in opening the letter she was even more excited for midnight to strike.

waiting, and waiting, and waiting. luckily, f/n was able to keep herself preoccupied, cleaning the fireplace, the chimneys, the bath tub and cooking dinner.

treating herself to a hot bath, f/n read the letter again and again, waiting for midnight.

putting on a loose pastel blue dress, she ran out, locking the door, to the field of pea blossoms next to the lake. where she and edward would usually meet.

"edward !" f/n giggled, grabbing the attention of the blonde man, currently lying down on the blossoms. "f/n," edward replied.

" we should make haste here, edward,  i feel that your mother has caught up about us."

"leave her," edward smirked, getting up and extending his hand, signalling for a dance. "happily," f/n replied, making contact with edward, smiling dreamily.

"wouldn't it be a dream to be here with you, forever."

"dream so sweet it will be, my lady," edward smiled, humming a soft tune, " i wish we brought cheslock here, he could have been the musician."

the couple continued this for a little longer, content in each others arms, before going back to their original position.

"why did you call me here ? and in what world came inside of your mind to write such a letter," f/n laughed, taking her usual spot next to edward. "every word that couldn't leave my mouth, was written there, f/n."

"huh ?"

"every letter was of lady veritas, f/n," edward said, getting up making f/n do the same. as he kneeled down, f/n started tearing up, "you know, we could always run away somewhere, far from england, all these porcelain won't give me as much as you do, so marry me, f/n."

"i love you, cupid just pierced my --" f/n looked at him, signalling that she couldn't understand his intricate english, "--killed me, so please marry me."

"who in the world would say no ? it's a gigantic yes, idiot !"

"forever ?"

"forever."

the both of them smiled walking towards the lake, bathing in all it's glory. enjoying the sight of the murky waters. edward and f/n pulled in, for one last  kiss.
