Mkay. There are NO Coraline x reader fics. Anywhere. Period. There's like, a single one shot. It irks me. It miffs me. It vexes me.

So here we are!

As the not-straight that I am, I've taken a small liking to our favorite blue-haired creepy doll aesthetic girl, Coraline. I'd like her to get a little more love. (From other characters, movie and book appreciation, as well as a more literal take on the phrase.)

I don't even know if this will end up being posted. It's 2:00 AM at the time of writing and I just got no results for my "Coraline/reader" search on Ao3 and Wattpad. I'm irked, miffed, and vexed.

This will be a modern AU. The book was published in 2002 and the movie was made in 2009, so I'm just making it... now. Cell phones and pop culture references. Be prepared. Also, she'll probably be older.

Disclaimer: I HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK YET. This will be based pretty much entirely on the movie, possibly with a heavier lean on the rat theme of the book. I saw it when I was little, was spooked, then returned to it a few years later and loved it like seemingly every other Coraline fan ever. This isn't PJO, we don't need to hate on the movie. (Because it at least maintains some integrity to the book, unlike a *cough cough* certain formerly mentioned series.)

Post-canon timeline. I'm not touching the shitstorm of canon.
