Brendon's POV

"But you know, Brendon, you're a terrible liar. Tell me how you see each other, please."
Atlas' words rang through my ears and I slowly looked at Dallon, not knowing what I should say to my friend.
I knew if we told him about the necklace, that he would overreact and get all upset for no reason, and I also didn't want him getting mad at Dallon for something dumb like that.
"I-I'm not a b-bad liar!" I say, and Atlas just gives me a look, something that makes me back down immediately.
Atlas could be pretty scary sometimes, but I knew that he would never intentionally hurt me, but that didn't mean he wasn't scary either. He used his size and his strength against me and I knew it, but I was too nervous to fight back or anything.
Dallon pulls me a little closer and he's quiet as well, also not knowing how to answer my friends question.
"W-We already to-told you, A-Atlas, he c-comes and v-visits m-me," I say, trying to make my tone sound more convincing so that Atlas would move on and drop the conversation and leave me and Dallon alone. It really wasn't any of his business how I saw my boyfriend anyways.
"Brendon, believe me I know he doesn't just come and see you. You would've slept on our rocks or our cave, and I haven't even seen you in the water for at least a week," Atlas says, and I knew that he was right.
"A-Atlas you c-can't get ma-mad and you c-can't tell K-Kai if I t-tell yo-you," I say, and I see Atlas frown, obviously not liking the sound of my words.
"Fine," Atlas almost growls out. "Tell me how you two see each other."
I look at Dallon and I take a deep breath, still nervous of how Atlas was going to react to the fact that I actually went up on land and that I actually had legs like any other human.
To him, he still thought humans were dangerous. I knew he was scared of Dallon, because if Dallon would try to move closer, Atlas would back up a bit and his body would tense up. He wasn't as tough as he tried to make himself seem, really he just looked like he was super tough and strong.
Atlas flicks his tail a little and I'm drawn out of my thoughts. I sigh softly and sit up a little more, flicking my own tail gently, and I giggle when I accidentally splash water on to Atlas' face.
"Tell me, Brendon," Atlas growls again, and I whimper and nod gently, not wanting to be yelled at by him.
"W-Well.. it's be-because of t-this," I say, and I hold up the small necklace, the crystal shining brightly because of the sun. I pull it back to my chest so Atlas can't take it from me or anything.
"What about that?" Atlas says, and he pulls himself up onto the rock more, so that his upper body is exposed. I see Dallon's eyes widen, but I don't pay any mind to it.
Everyone had that reaction when they met Atlas.
"W-Well I c-can get l-legs if I u-use it.. s-so that's what I d-do. I get le-legs and th-then I go an-and stay with h-him at the h-house," I explain, and then I point to the house that you could still see out in the distance.
"You've had legs?!" Atlas yells, and I flinch and hide myself in Dallon. Atlas was always scary when he yelled.
"A-Atlas, pl-please.." I try, but Atlas is already on one of his little rants that involve yelling. One of the rants that always scared me.
"Do you know how dangerous that is?! They could've killed you, Brendon! You could be dead right now! Do you know how mad Kai would be?! For goodness sakes, how dumb are you, Brendon?!" Atlas yells out, and I just take it, since I'm already used to it.
I just hide myself more in Dallon, but I make sure you're still able to see my face since I knew Atlas would yell at me more if I didn't make eye contact. I just watch my tail sway gently as Atlas lectures me. My hands shake a little, but I make sure they stop before Atlas realizes.
Dallon's POV

Why did Brendon have to tell Atlas about the necklace? He didn't have to, he could've just ignored his friend, but then again, Atlas was the kind of person you didn't want to ignore.
I looked over at Brendon, and I saw that his hands were shaking. I laced our fingers together, and kissed the top of his hand. "Baby, it's okay, you're okay, I'm right here."
"HEY! I'M TALKING TO HIM!" Atlas shouted, as Brendon flinched. Why was he so calm about it? A week ago when Ryan would yell at him, Brendon would break down, but with Atlas, he didn't.
"Hey, dumbass, stop talking to my boyfriend like that!" I said, moving a little so I could block Brendon from Atlas.
"He's my friend." Atlas growled, as he moved away from me. "And don't call me a dumbass."
"D-do you kn-know what th-that means?" Brendon asked in almost a whisper. Atlas shook his head.
"I know it's not a good thing."
"Actually, it's not as bad as being called a motherfucking bitch ass whore." I said, as I heard Brendon gasp.
"D-Dally, d-don't say th-that!" Brendon exclaimed. "H-he's my f-friend!"
"Baby, that's not what friends do." I said softly. "Friends don't yell at each other, he's controlling you, Bren."
Brendon shook his head. "A-Atlas is m-my best f-friend! H-he wouldn't h-hurt me."
"Josh and Tyler don't do that to you, Ryan doesn't anymore, friends don't control you, baby doll." I said, hearing Atlas groan in boredom. "He's not a good friend."
Brendon didn't say anything, he just put his head on my lap, wrapping his arms around my leg, whimpering. Atlas glared at us, sitting up even more.
"So, Dallon, you must think you're a big hotshot being Brendon's boyfriend and all." He said. "I bet you probably threaten him so he stays with you. You probably have a harpoon gun at the ready if you want to-"
I stood up quickly, accidentally knocking Brendon over. "SHUT THE FUCKING HELL UP!" I shouted, as Atlas backed away, his eyes wide. I realized that I had scared him, and I had an advantage.
I moved closer, continuing to yell. Atlas backed away into the water, glaring at me. "Brendon! Make him stop!"
Brendon looked from his friend to me and back again. "D-Dally?" He had curled himself up into a ball, and his voice was barely audible.
I looked over my shoulder to check on him. "Baby, it's okay, I'm not gonna hurt-" I suddenly felt something strong hit my legs, and I hit the rocks hard.
"D-DALLY!" I heard Brendon yell. I was suddenly yanked underwater, my head and arm throbbing from the sudden hit.
I knew I needed to swim up, but I couldn't, I saw a glimpse of something blue rush past me, and I realized what had knocked me in here. Atlas was trying to get rid of me.
Not more than thirty seconds later, I felt someone next to me, and their lips connected with mine. I breathed in and out a few times, as we swam back up. I opened my eyes, the salt water making them sting even after my head had come out.
"A-are you o-okay?" Brendon asked. I could see tears in his eyes, and he looked frightened. I nodded, kissing him again. I didn't see Atlas anywhere, which was fine with me, but I did wonder where he had gone.
"Baby, where's Atlas?" I asked, as we swam back to where we were before, my arm still hurting as well as my head. I climbed up the rocks, turning around to help Brendon. I saw even more terror in his eyes, and he was shaking. "Darling, what's the matter? You need to tell me."
"H-he left, a-and he w-went t-to get K-Kai." Brendon cried out, as I pulled him close. I wrapped my arms around him, not knowing how to help.
"Sweetheart, who's Kai?" I asked, hoping that it would be a non problematic friend. Brendon only shook his head, whimpering. "Did he hurt you?" He shook his head again. "Will he hurt you?" Brendon didn't react, he only whimpered a bit louder.
I leaned back a little, turning Brendon so he could face me. "We're gonna be okay, baby, don't worry. Atlas is a dick okay? If Kai is too....I'll do something, baby, I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you."
"Wh-what if y-you get h-hurt?" Brendon asked, holding my head in his hands. "T-tell me wh-what happens th-then?"
"Then I get hurt, but that's better than you, Bren," I said. "And if Kai is anything like Atlas, God forbid, I'll just scare him off."
Brendon smiled a little. "A-Atlas was s-scared of y-you." I nodded, smiling back at my boyfriend, putting our foreheads together.
"Yeah, I guess he is, baby, I'm practically a giant, so I guess that's why." I chuckled. Brendon giggled softly.
"You're n-not a g-giant, y-you're....y-you're p-perfect." Another smile spread across my face, my heart rate speeding up as he said those words to me. Just for that second I forgot all about Atlas, Kai, and the fact that Brendon was scared, and that I was too. It was like all our problems were outside a force field, and rushed back in when it opened. But right now, it felt like that it would never break, and we wouldn't have to worry about anything.
