Dallon's POV

Brendon and I had stayed on the rocks, curled up in each other's arms. I finally told him I was going to have to go home since the sun was beginning to go down.
"No." He whimpered, burying his face in my chest. "D-don't leave m-me, baby."
I kissed the top of his head, rubbing his back. "I'm not leaving you, my love, I'm gonna come back tomorrow."
"P-Promise?" He asked, his voice muffled.
"I promise, Brendon." I said. "We gotta get back to shore."
"W-Why can't y-you stay w-with me?" Brendon asked.
"I just can't, baby." I said. "I'll be here tomorrow morning, bright and early." I picked my boyfriend up, carrying him to the edge of the rocks, jumping into the ocean.
I held onto Brendon, as he swam us towards shore. I would never get tired looking at him. Watching him swim was almost hypnotic, I had to remember to keep swimming so I didn't become dead weight.
I tapped on the back of his neck, and he spun around to face me. He didn't even wait for me to signal if I needed air, he just kissed me for what was probably the millionth time, but I would never get tired of the feeling. I breathed in and out a few times, then we kept on going.
I was sure that Brendon was finding reasons to kiss me, because even when I didn't tap on him to signal for my need of oxygen, he would give me air a few times every couple minutes.
We looked out at the beach, seeing that there was no one there. We swam the rest of the distance, pulling ourselves onto the shore.
"I l-love you, D-Dally.." Brendon said softly. He sounded upset, and I was too, I didn't want to leave him alone again.
"I'll be back soon, baby." I said, gently touching the hickeys on his neck, kissing him passionately.
He kissed me back, letting me go suddenly. "I-I'll see y-you to-tomorrow morning, r-right?"
"Of course you will." I said. "I love you, sweetie."
"I l-love you m-more, Dally." He said, moving back into the water. "B-Bye-bye."
"Bye!" I said, waving.

I smile slightly when he waves but it quickly fades as I sink back down into the water, my head hung. I didn't understand why he couldn't just stay with me, we could cuddle and talk all night!
I sigh softly, and I shake my head, as I put up a smile. I would see him tomorrow morning so the sooner I slept, the sooner I would see him again.
I swim down to the rocks I slept on almost every night now, the water dark and I still didn't like it any better.
I lay on the rocks on my stomach, my tail laid out beside me. I smile a little to myself and I bring my hand up to feel my neck, rubbing my fingers over the hickey's that Dallon left on my skin. I wonder how they look on me, they're pretty on Dallon.. but maybe not me.
I just lay on the rocks for what feels like hours, and I just watch some of the fish swim around, being amused by the way they move. I even see a little crab when I look close enough on the rocks, and I giggle to myself.
They look so silly when they walk.
I yawn and I close my eyes, letting myself relax against the rocks and I hum as I feel myself drift off into sleep, thinking about all I could do with Dallon the next morning.
*time skip to the next morning*
When I wake up I immediately smile, giggling happily as I stretch, doing a little flip in the water just for fun.
My tail feels a whole lot better since Dallon helped me, and I'm back to swimming at my fast pace again.
I immediately start swimming to where I always meet Dallon, giggling happily along the way. I'm swimming very quickly, being very excited to see him and I didn't want to be late since I realized that the sun was almost already up.
I use my tail to push myself up and out of the water before I dive back in, and I giggle more.
After what seems like forever, I reach the beach that me and Dallon always meet at. I look up from under the water and I see that the sun is up now, so I knew Dallon should be here.
I pop my head out of the water, smiling widely.
"D-Dally! I-," I begin to say, but I stop as I don't see him anywhere, a pout coming onto my lips as I swim up to the shore.
"Dally?" I question, to no one but myself and I look around the beach, trying to see if I could see him anywhere. He was supposed to be here already..
I pushed myself up onto the shore so I could look at the house that he always went to, and I could see that the lights were on.
"W-Why isn't he h-here?" I ask myself softly.
I pushed myself more onto the shore, not caring if I got sand on my tail. I look into the house, and I can see shadows move in the house. I feel tears well up in my eyes as I push myself back into the water.
I decided to wait just a little longer, maybe he was just having breakfast?
I waited for what seemed like hours, and the sun ended up rising a bit more. I had my head in my arms, my arms resting on the beach.
He still hasn't shown up, and I finally let myself freely cry, the tears streaming down my cheeks as I push myself all the way back into my water, letting myself sink down onto another pile of rocks, and I curl up.
Why didn't he show up?
After all that happened yesterday I thought for sure he would come back. Did he just use me and mark me?
I feel myself cry harder and I wrap my arms around my tail, and this was the only thing that was making me feel secure at the moment.
I needed and wanted Dallon, but he wasn't here. He said he loved me, so why didn't he come back? He promised he'd come every day!
I just let myself cry into my arms and my tail, trying to drown out the feeling and need of me wanting Dallon to be there. Maybe everyone was right about everything regarding the humans, maybe you couldn't trust them for anything after all.
I thought Dallon would be different, and he was! But now I'm just proving myself wrong. I desperately try wiping my eyes, but I just let it all fall at this point.
He said he'd be here, so where was he when I needed him most?

I heard a crash at some o'dark hour of the morning. I groaned, rolling out of bed. I turned on the lights in the living room, seeing Ryan laying face down on the couch, his legs hanging off the side.
"Ryan, what the hell are you doing?" I asked. "Ryan? Ryan? Hey, wake up!"
"Leavealoneme." Ryan slurred, falling out of my grip on his shoulders.
"Shit." I muttered. I could smell the alcohol on him. I didn't know how much he drank, and I didn't want to know. "Alright, Ryan, c'mon, buddy." I put my arm around my friend, practically dragging him to his room.
"Whatsonyerneck." He slurred again, reaching up to touch where my hickeys were.
"Some marks my boyfriend made on me." I said, helping Ryan onto his bed. "Now get some sleep, and please don't be too hungover tomorrow."
I woke up to the sound of someone puking, and I already knew what it was.
"RYAN! YOU OKAY, BUD?" I shouted.
"I GOT TO DRUNK LAST NIGHT!" Ryan called back, vomiting after he said it.
"I'M GONNA MAKE YOU SOME COFFEE AND GIVE YOU MEDICINE!" I shouted. "LAY DOWN!"
"OKAY!"
The average person wouldn't worry this much about their hungover friend, but I did. Ryan was my best friend who got me through everything, plus I hated knowing that he was going to be puking all day while I was having fun doing something, I couldn't think of any plans I had had today.
I looked through the medicine cabinet, not seeing any nausea pills. "HEY RYAN!?"
"WHAT!?" He shouted back.
"I'M GONNA GO TO THE STORE FOR MORE MEDS!"
"HURRY BACK!"
"OKAY!" I yelled, grabbing my car keys, running outside. I barely ever speed, but this time I needed to.
I floored it, as I sped down the road to the nearest pharmacy. I didn't care where I went to, I just needed to get medicine for Ryan.
"Hello!" An employee said, as I ran in. "How can I help you?"
"Nausea pills and anything else for being hungover." I said.
A few moments later, I was back in the house with an armful of random things. "Ryan! Open up!"
Ryan opened the bathroom door. His hair was messy and in his red eyes, his nose was running, and the room smelled terrible. "Hey, Dal."
"Holy shit, how much did you drink?" I asked, handing Ryan the nausea pills.
"You don't wanna know, Dal, you really don't wanna know." Ryan said. "Thanks for the medicine."
"I've got you, Ryan." I said, smiling at him. "I've got the hangover party package."
Ryan rolled his eyes. "You mean the stuff that won't make me puke?"
"You make everything boring." I said. "Here's your water, here's some Sprite, here's a bag of ginger snaps, crackers, more medicine, and that's about it."
"You're the best, Dal." Ryan said. "I'm so shaky right now." He held out his hands, and they were shaking really badly.
"That's normal, Ry." I said, walking into the bedroom, ripped a blanket off the bed, then came back. "Here, this might help." I wrapped him in the blanket, handing him his phone.
"Thanks, Dallon." Ryan said. "Were you gonna be busy today?"
"As long as you're okay, I'm okay." I said without thinking. "Remember when we were in college and I got super hungover?"
"Yeah." Ryan said, leaning against the toilet weakly. "You were puking the whole day."
"Yep, and you were supposed to go to your girlfriend's house, but you stayed with me till you knew I was okay." I said. "I'm not leaving you."
"Damnit, why do you have to be so nice?" Ryan laughed, then put his head in the toilet, trying to breathe normally.
I rubbed his back gently. "You're okay, Ry, you're okay."
He nodded, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I'm gonna go lay down, okay?"
"I'll lay down with you and mess around on my phone." I said. "I have a new level on my game, and I've been dying to play it."
Ryan grinned. "Thanks again, Dal."
"You're welcome, now go to sleep before I knock you out myself." I laughed.
It seemed like Ryan slept for hours, as I played around on my phone. I watched Back To The Future again, and halfway through that my friend finally woke up.
"G'morning, Dallon." He said, sitting up.
"It's almost ten." I laughed. "Feeling better?"
"Yeah, I still have a damn headache."
"I'll bet you do." I said, turning back to the movie.
"Hey, Dallon? What's on your neck?" Ryan asked.
"What?"
"Are these hickeys?"
I whirled around to face him. "What did you say?"
"You have hickeys on your neck, is there something you aren't-" Ryan began, but I was on my feet.
"I gotta go, Ryan!" I said, taking off running out of the house.
