First Night - IV
Viktoria was napping on the couch when the two boys returned. The sound of the heavy door opening caused her eyes to open, and she jumped up to see Ruby and Viktor enter the home.
"What took you so long?" she asked, taking in their appearance. "And why do you look like shit?" Viktoria removed Viktor's scarf, revealing shallow imprints on his neck.
"Long story," he muttered, kicking off his shoes. "I'm going to sleep." Viktor walked past his sister, pulling off his sweatshirt at the same time.
"Here you go," Ruby said, handing her the cold pizza box. "I'm gonna head up to bed as well." He flashed her a smile. "I'll help prepare breakfast to make up for the cold food, 'kay?" Ruby didn't wait for her answer, taking the steps two at a time.
"Just great," Viktoria muttered, watching his retreating figure. She shivered at the touch of cold cardboard and opened the pizza box. Grabbing a frozen slice, she took a bite and locked the door. It seemed as if she would be dining alone tonight.
Ruby shivered as he reached the top of the stairs. Removing the jacket he borrowed, thoughts of the evening came back to him. Before they were attacked, Viktor had called him a flirt. He had leaned closer to Ruby. He almost kissed him.
Just the thought of kissing those plump lips made Ruby's heart skip a beat, but he knew he would do it when given the chance. Entering the room he was sharing, he saw Viktor.
A smile tugged at Ruby's lips at the sight of a shirtless Viktor, but he tried to contain himself.
The blonde didn't notice his presence right away, but felt Ruby's eyes. Looking up, he saw Ruby staring at him intently. Pleasantly surprised, Ruby noticed how lean yet muscular Viktor's body was. A purplish bruise was forming on his abdomen, which Viktor was checking out.
"She hit me pretty hard," Viktor said quietly, feeling self conscious at the attention he was getting. He grabbed his shirt, about to pull it over his head, when Ruby raised a hand.
"Wait," he said. "Let me get you some ice for that." Ruby left, and Viktor sighed. Why was he suddenly so nervous? And why had Ruby stared at him like he was something he wanted to devour? Sitting down on his mattress, Viktor put his shirt back on anyways and let his mind wander back to what caused his bruises.
That girl called him Prince. And she knew who he was. Yet, she seemed shocked at his weapons. Or, at how they had to be substituted to appear in the physical world.
Why was there a price over his head? He knew he had to tell Viktoria right away in the morning, but what about Ruby? That would mean revealing everything about himself, including his sister.
Ruby.
That guy was a wonder to Viktor. He wasn't sure about his feelings about the male, but it seemed that Ruby was smitten for him. As for Viktor, he didn't know what to feel towards the handsome stranger.
"Here, I'll hold it for you," Ruby said, appearing in front of Viktor. He was so lost in thought, he didn't notice the other male enter. Viktor shook his head to oppose, but Ruby was already holding the ice pack against his bruise. Even through his thin shirt, the cold ice was a relief to the hot pain.
Silence filled the room as Ruby gazed at Viktor longingly, while Viktor look anywhere but at him. Neither one of them knew what to say, and both were tired from their eventful evening.
"So, what's so special about you?" Ruby asked, his voice cutting into the awkward atmosphere. Viktor finally met his eyes, a questioning look in his pale eyes.
"I could ask you the same thing," Viktor responded. "How do you do that thing, where it seems like you disappear?"
"Psycho," Ruby said. "Prefix meaning: mind, mental." Ruby stared into Viktor's confused eyes. "I have the power to manipulate what others perceive. The brain is such an easy tool to confuse."
"You have powers?" Viktor asked, feeling sick at the thought that Ruby could manipulate his brain at any given moment.
"Shocking?" Ruby asked, smiling. Viktor shook his head.
"Just terrifying," he responded. "Besides, you wouldn't be the first person I know to have such gifts." Ruby tilted his head at Viktor's words. Did another Psycho exist in this world?
"Who?" Ruby questioned.
"Viktoria," the blonde responded. "She can teleport anywhere she wants with just a thought."
"A Tele, huh?" Ruby asked aloud. "Interesting." He looked down at Viktor, another question forming. "What about you?"
"No powers," Viktor replied. "Just weapons." He was never happy to be the only normal one, but Viktor had gotten used to the fact. Besides, he was much more important than those with powers.
"No powers," Ruby repeated. "Then why would that chick come after you with her Indomitables?"
"Indomitables?" Viktor asked.
"Indomitable. Adjective: impossible to subdue or defeat. They can take a hit without getting injured," Ruby said. "Even the one I shot will be just fine in a few hours."
"But you shot him in the head."
"True. I also sent signals to his brain, making him think he had died, but I'm too far to keep his mind under control. The bullet didn't even reach his brain, what with such a thick skull."
"Ah," Viktor said, nodding his head. The ice pack was starting to make his stomach feel numb, so he placed his hand over Ruby's, moving the frozen block off his abdomen. Ruby felt a tingle in his hand at the contact, but it disappeared once Viktor let go. "Thanks, but I'm cold."
"Of course," Ruby replied, placing the ice pack on the night stand. He watched Viktor take his socks off before climbing into bed. Scoffing, Ruby smiled. At least he isn't a weirdo who sleeps with his socks on, Ruby thought.
"Hit the light, if you will," Viktor said, laying on his back. Ruby looked over at the other male, feeling his opportunity slipping away. Instead of obeying, Ruby sat on the bed next to Viktor.
"Let's stay up a little longer," Ruby said, his mind coming up with ideas.
"I don't feel like talking," Viktor mumbled, his eyelids heavy.
"Who said anything about talking?"
"What?" Viktor asked lazily, his eyes peeking open. He spared a glance at Ruby, but instantly regretted it.
Ruby leaned forward, gazing into Viktor's light-blue orbs. His dark eyes shifted between Viktor's eyes and his lips, causing Viktor to suddenly feel his heart jump.
"You called me a flirt earlier," Ruby mumbled. "Do I really seem like a flirt to you?"
Why had Viktor called him a flirt? The moment was so surreal, Viktor hadn't even realised that he was also teasing.
"Yeah," Viktor said bluntly, his eyebrows furrowed. Ruby placed his hand beside Viktor's head so he could lean over his body, strands of his dark red hair falling.
"Do you not want me to flirt anymore?" the suspicious male asked, inching closer to Viktor. The question stunned Viktor, and he was without a response. Instead, he squinted his pale eyes at the other male. What was he playing at? "Viktor," Ruby said softly.
Viktor could feel the atmosphere was shifting quickly, on the verge of tumbling into unknown territory.
"What are you implying?" Viktor asked Ruby quietly, looking him straight in the eyes. Ruby felt his confidence crack, for his only weakness were those pale blue orbs.
It seemed as if Viktor was not in the mood for whatever it was that Ruby was trying to pull. Viktor wanted to get a grip of the situation, and seemed to be failing.
"What does it seem like?" Ruby responded, swinging his legs over so that Viktor was directly underneath him.
Gasping for air, Viktor jerked as Ruby landed on his sore body. Ruby looked down at him, fear in eyes as he realized his mistake. Viktor grabbed Ruby's arms, trying to control his breathing and focus on anything else but the pain.
"Ruby," Viktor muttered through clenched teeth. "Get. Off."
Ruby almost did what he said, but stopped at the last moment, the fear in his eyes disappearing.
His strong hands grasping his forearms, his breath slightly ragged, his eyes focused on him only.
The sight of Viktor at a vulnerable state was not to be wasted.
Unconsciously, Ruby bit his bottom lip, his mind exploring different outcomes of his irrational idea. However, to the male underneath him, it looked as if this was the final warning.
"Make me."
His warm lips pressed against his. His grip loosened while his tightened. His heart raced, and his as well.
The first touch sent a shock through the blonde's body, immediately numbing the pain on his tired body. With his breath lost and his blood pumping, Viktor had a realization.
This feeling, this situation, was familiar.
Viktor felt the added pressure, and finally got his bearings.
Suddenly, the plump lips disappeared, and Ruby opened his eyes to see that Viktor had pushed him off of his body. The look of fear and surprise on his face made Ruby feel confused. Was this not what he wanted?
A knock at the door caused both of them to whip their heads and stare at the thin wooden structure.
"Don't come in, I'm naked," Viktor rushed to say.
"You have nothing to hide," Viktoria's muffled voice replied before the door opened.
