Go!
Winnie grips her backpack tightly as she was walking down the sidewalk of Jump City cautiously and fearful, she had just moved to the city and didn't no anyone which meant that anyone could of been a threat.
She turned the corner into a near by alley. Very bad idea. "
"Hey kid gimme all your money." a low voice hissed. A thug stepped into the moonlight.
"I-I don't have any." She quietly spoke, shaking in her boots "Please just leave me alone."
"Don't make me repeat myself, kid." The thug angrily glared at her as he took a small knife out of his pocket. "Just do what I say and no one gets hurt."
She turns and runs to the end of alley as the thug was hot on her tail. She reaches a dead in, she about to fly up to the roof when the thug grabs her wrist and roughly turned her around, pinning her against the wall.
Alright toots we're gonna do this the easy way or the hard way." The thug brings the blade close to her face.
Winnie whimpers as she closes her eyes, a disc flew passed her ear as the thug handle his hand in pain.
A silhouette slowly walks out of the shadows revealing himself to be Robin.
"You should be ashamed of yourself targeting a little girl." Robin frowned, leaped into the air, and jump-kicked the thug in the face. The thug fell against the wall and crumpled to the ground.
Robin turns to see that Winnie had made a force field around herself covering herself with long white wings shaking in fear.
"Hey it's ok he's not gonna hurt you, you can come out now." Robin knocks on the glass, letting her know she was safe.
She peeks between her wings to see the thug is unconscious. She lowers them as Robin offers her his hand.
"T-Thank you." She gratefully took it.
"I'm just doing my job." Robin nods.
"Hey um .... aren't you ... normally with-"
"I don't work with him not anymore" Robin looked away.
"Oh." Winnie mentally slaps her forehead, feeling stupid and embarrassed.
A stream of green raced across the sky like a comet as they watched it disappear into the city, followed by a large, green explosion from the city's center.
"Come on." Robin pulls her causing her to squeak as they ran towards the explosion. The green smoke rising from the crash site. A large crater jutted out of the road, right in front of the pizza restaurant. People gathered around the crater, their curiosity getting the best of them.
Starfire stepped out of the crater, hunched over and panting. She wore the same outfit as her older sister, Blackfire- the same prison uniform. Her hands were cuffed, and her eyes glowed perpetually.
"Sluvnar ni vormat!" Starfire cried, sliding down the side of the crater. She raised her hands up, and people backed away. "Sluvnar!"
She aimed her cuffed hands at a nearby man with a camera. His shaking finger pressed the shutter button, and the flash went off. Starfire winced and shrunk away for a moment, before roaring and swinging her arms wildly. The citizens scattered in a cloud of screams.
Starfire swung her arms, knocking a parked car into the air like a baseball. It crashed to the ground and caught on fire. She pounded her hands into the ground, leaving another smaller crater.
She turned her head, noticing the single pillar in front of the door of the pizza restaurant that helped keep the balcony up. She sprinted over and began to beat it with her cuffed hands, screaming in Tamaranean. The balcony broke off, and those on it clung to the sides. Starfire reeled back once more time.
A birdarang cut through the air and hit the headpiece framing Starfire's face. Starfire stumbled a few feet. She turned and growled at Robin, who stood on a parked car.
"Who are you?" Robin asked, getting in a fighting stance.
Starfire lunged. Robin backflipped off the car, and Starfire crushed it in half. Starfire tossed the mangled car into the air with her foot and kicked it at Robin. Robin ducked as the car flew over his head and hit a nearby building. He glanced over his shoulder at the car. When he looked forward, he didn't have enough time to dodge Starfire's swing.
The cuff hit him square in the chest, and he tumbled. Starfire lunged at him, but Robin rolled out of the way. Starfire's cuff dug into the asphalt.
Winnie decided that she needed to help him, she holds her breath and blows out cold air as it starts to form ice towards Starfire which causes her to slip and fall on her butt.
She angrily turns to Winnie who laughs sheepishly, Starfire starts to charge at her. Winnie screams bracing for impact, Robin does a back flip in the air and quickly grabs her before Starfire smashes the ground.
"Stay here." Robin puts her on the side of the fight running back.
"Dude, this is sick!" Winnie jumped at the voice next to her and leaped away, getting a good look at Beast Boy, who also watched the fight. The top half of his face was covered in a mask. He grabs her shoulder and pulls her closer grinning.
"That's Robin, the Boy Wonder! I can't believe I'm seeing him in the flesh, even more that I get to see him in action!"
Winnie looked at him confused, wondering why this stranger was so open to touching her. Beast boy realizes that he's invading her personal space and backs away.
"Oh sorry." He smiled sheepishly "Uh I'm Beast Boy." He holds out his hand for her to shake. Winnie looked away nervously.
"What's wrong can't cha talk?" He asked as she slowly backed away blushing.
"Hey it's ok I don't bite." He smiles a big fangs smile. She smiles softly as she finally shook his hand.
"I-I'm W-Winnie." She stuttered.
"Winnie cute name!" Beast Boy smiled causing her to turn bright red from the compliment.
"I think Robin needs help." She said.
Beast Boy grinned "Watch this."
Beast Boy sprinted towards Starfire, who lunged at Robin. He transformed into a ram and barreled into Starfire. Beast Boy transformed back into his human self and saluted.
"Ex-Doom Patrol member, Beast Boy, at your service!" Beast Boy said. "I'd just like to say that it's an honor to fight alongside you, sir!"
"Don't call me 'sir'." Robin said.
Starfire found an empty bus nearby and raised it above her head. Beast Boy yelped as he and Robin leaped away. Starfire threw the bus. Cyborg, shrouded in a hoodie and sweatpants, stepped in the bus's path. He grabbed the bus and tossed it off to the side.
"Yo! Who's messing up my neighborhood!" Cyborg
"She started it." Beast Boy said, pointing an accusing finger at Starfire.
With a growl, Starfire slammed her cuffed hands into the road. Winnie crouched low to the ground to keep her balance as the area shook. The tops of the cuffs broke off, freeing her hands. Starfire raised her hands, unleashing a barrage of starbolts at the three boys.
They separated and dodged the starbolts. Many of them flew off, hitting buildings, cars, and billboards, creating an even bigger mess. Starfire collapsed to her knees and panted. People began to surface again, observing the giant disaster around them. The three boys hid behind the bus Starfire threw before, collecting themselves before they charged again.
A large, astral raven emerged from the ground, separating them from Starfire. Raven teleported behind the boys.
Starfire leaped back on her feet and aimed her clenched fists at the others, ready to shower them with more star energy.
Winnie couldn't take anymore of the fighting as she let a big "Stop!" sending an echo though the city shattering glass catching the five teens by surprise.
Winnie takes a deep breath and slowly starts to walk near Starfire who points her fists still tempted on firing.
"What is she doing?" Cyborg whispers.
Winnie takes her hands and lowers Starfire's hands looking deep into her eyes, slowly, the light consuming her hands and eyes flickered off.
"I'm gonna take these off ok?" Winnie holds her hands "Just please don't blast me." She said scared.
She takes her hands on the cuffs and freezes it completely covering it in ice into it shatters.
Starfire's rubs her wrist and looks at her strange, out of nowhere she grabs her shirt and lifts her a few inches off the ground.
"Hey let her go!" Robin walks towards Starfire narrowing his eyes as a warning.
Winnie closes her eyes waiting for a punch to come in contact with her face.
Starfire huffs as she let's go of Winnies shirt making her land on her butt.
She takes the back of Robins head and kisses his lips before pushing him to the ground.
"If you wish not to be destroyed you will leave me alone!" Starfire barks before flying away.
"Nice work. I never imagined you as an alien whisper." Beast Boy said.
"You ok kid?" Cyborg offers her a hand.
"Yeah I'm fine." Winnie takes his hand, standing up.
"Who was that?" Beast boy raised an eyebrow at the starry sky.
"Who ever she was the girl sure knows how to make an impression." Cyborg said.
"I think we made a pretty good impression." Beast boy smiled "Crazy space girl is gone, the cities saved mission accomplished right sir?"
"Seriously stop calling me that." Robin said a little annoyed.
"Roger." Beast boy saluted.
"Look like we're done here." Robin starts to walk away "Thanks for the help."
"You're gonna track down the alien?" Raven finally spoke.
"I have to find out if she's a threat." Robin walks away from them.
"More like find out if she'll give him another kiss." Cyborg rolled his eyes, Winnie silently giggled it was the first time she had laughed for a long time.
Beast boy starts to run after Robin "Hey sir ... I mean Robin do you maybe-."
"Sorry I just went solo I not really looking to join a team." Robin walks away.
"Need a sidekick?" Beast boy looked sadly as Robin walked away. Beast Boy look to the others as they walked away.
"Hey do you maybe wanna get a pizza." Beast boy runs to Winnie, he goes to grab her hand but as he touched it his hand got admittedly cold. He puts his hand under his armpit to keep it warm.
"P-Please don't touch me." Winnie held her hand closer to her. "It's best if you don't know me." She spread her wings and flew away.
...................................
Winnie walks down a street, keeping her hands in her pockets with her head down.
She suddenly noticed a large hole in the side of a video store "Huh." She steps though it. She hears the sound of crinkling of wrappers and the smack of hungry lips. She walked to the food shelves and stood behind Starfire as she stuffed her face with snacks.
Hoping not to alert her she slowly starts to walk backwards towards the entrance she came out of, but she accidentally steps on a candy wrap making Starfire's ears perk up. Starfire turns around and fires a star bolt at her, Winnie squeals as she fired her own ice bolt causing the two to combine making a green icicle.
"You are Icecren?" Starfire raises an eyebrow, recognizing the ability.
"Yes ... No? Well half Icecren o-on my dads side." Winnie said awkwardly, she hated to have to explain it to people.
"Icecren's are known for their savage and unmercifully ways." Starfire points her arms at Winnie ready to fire "You must be no different."
"Yes my people have the reputation of being cold hearted but if I was unmercifully would I have taken your cuffs off?" Winnie raises an eyebrow.
Starfire lows her hands as her eyes flicker off. Winnie goes towards the freezers and picks up a tube of ice cream. She goes to the register and pulls a five dollar bill out of her pocket, laying it down on the counter.
She takes a spoon and begins to eat it, she looks up to see Starfire looking at her with a strange look.
"I-Ice cream helps me stay cool." Winnie blushes, she didn't really like being stared at "Do you want some?" She shyly offers her frozen treat to the alien girl.
Starfire is tempted at first but then takes a bite and pauses, she then snatches the tube out of Winnie's hand and eats larger bites of it until she screamed of pain holding her head.
"What is this feeling in my head!" She said in agony "You have tricked me?!"
"N-No no no no." Winnie waves her hands in defense. "It's called a brain freeze it's what happens when you eat too much ice cream at once it'll go away in a few seconds."
The brain freeze finally ended as a flashlight shined in their eyes.
"N-No! D-Don't you hurt her." Winnie got in front of Starfire with her arms stretched out.
Robin looked at me with wide eyes of shock and recognition, but regained his composure
"Get out of the way she's a criminal."
"N-No she's not." Winnie frowns as she stood her ground for the first time. "You just haven't heard her side of the story."
"Ok What did you do to the lizard dudes to become their prisoner?" Cyborg said.
"Not a prisoner. I am prize. The Gordanians deliver me to the Citadel. To live out the rest of my days as their servant." Starfire final spoke.
"And the Citadel are...?" Raven asked.
"Not nice." Starfire answered.
"Then you're not going with them. Not if I have anything to say about it." Robin assured her, smiling.
"Um... Don't you mean 'we'?" Beast Boy corrected.
The wall exploded, and the impact sent us to the ground. Another gaping hole formed in the wall, and a group of Gordanians stood on the other side.
"Seize her!" their leader, Trogaar, cried. The others swarmed in.
The group went into battle and were able to hold their own. Robin used his bo-staff. Beast Boy morphed into his animal forms.
Cyborg and Starfire used their physical strength. Raven used dark energy and Winnie used her ice powers.
Starfire started using her emerald green energy orbs, but the Gordanians were able to ground her. Robin noticed and threw his opponent into Starfires opponent. Starfire smiled in gratitude. Robin smiled back, but didn't notice the Gordanian behind him.
Winnie gasped and noticed the Gordanian about to attack Robin from behind, "Robin, look out!"
In a sudden second, Winnie pushed Robin out of the way and took the Gordanian's attack, causing her to roll on the ground.
This made Robin and Starfire angry, as they resumed fighting the Gordanians. Another Gordanian was fighting Cyborg, using its spear as an advantage. Cyborg dodged the best he can, but got his outfit ripped to sheds, revealing most of his body was cybernetic, a cyborg.
Winnie looks up to Raven offering her a hand.
"T-Thanks." Winnie said, but Raven didn't say a word.
Winnie took her hands and formed a giant ice like energy throwing it at the gordanians knocking them out of the way.
Cyborg snapped the weapon in half and threw the Gordanian into a group. The remaining Gordanians fired lasers at Cyborg. Luckily, the Beast Boy morphed into a pterodactyl and lifted Cyborg to safety. Raven used her dark energy as a form of telekinesis, and used a street lamp as a golf club to attack the remaining Gordanians. The remaining Gordanians retreated.
"I believe your expression is... 'Thanks'." Starfire thanked the group.
"Aw, man, my suit..." Cyborg said, picking off the scraps of fabric from his hoodie.
"Are you kidding me? You look way cooler now." Beast Boy complimented with a smile.
"Like I'm going to take fashion advice from a kid in a goofy mask." Cyborg pointed out.
"Goofy? I thought my mask was cool..."
"It's not." Raven said.
"But-" Beast Boy sighed and pulled off the mask.
Winnie looked how sad Beast Boy looked, she decided to speak up.
"I-I think you look cooler without your mask." She gave him a shy smile, Beast Boy smiles as his cheeks were red.
Winnie put her gloves back on but not before Raven noticed the symbol on her wrist.
"You're Icecren?" Raven asked.
"Y-Yeah." Winnie said nervously.
"Huh I thought you'd be colder." Raven said a little confused.
"Y-Yeah I get that a lot." Winnie said quietly, she hated it when people compared her to her half breed race.
"This isn't over." Robin stepped forward "now that we've interfered-"
"Trogaar will surely strike harder." Starfire interrupts him "It is only a matter of-"
"Fools! You earth scum were warned. Now, you must pay the price." Trogaar said via hologram. "Say goodbye to your city."
The hologram disappeared, and the large spaceship swooped in and hung above the city. It floated vertically, displaying the giant laser on the bottom. It began to charge.
"Scheiße." Winnie said under her breath as she looks up at the giant alien ship.
............................................
The teens looked into the sky as the ship pointed downward, ready to fire down at the city below.
"So after trashing the pizza place and perfectly good video store, now we've managed to make a humongous space gecko mad enough to vaporize our in entire town!" Beast boy said, trying to process the only situation.
"Go team." Cyborg said sarcastically.
"All the fault is yours." Starfire looked Robin angry "I commanded you leave me alone but you insisted on the being nice!"
"My fault? Robin argued back, "You blasted me, you kissed me, but you never stop to mention that they have a gigantic particle weapon?!"
Then the two started arguing.
"We are doomed! I can't believe you talked me into this!" Beast Boy shouted at Cyborg, getting into an argument with him.
Raven could tell that Winnie was getting uncomfortable with all of the arguing as she whimpers while ice starts to appear underneath her feet.
"QUIET!" Raven shouted, getting everyone's attention. Raven waved timidly, "Hi..."
Robin nodded and smiled, "Come on. We've got a city to save."
.............................................................
Raven used her dark energy to teleport everyone into the ship.
Beast Boy shivered, "That dark energy stuff gives me the-" Beast Boy stopped, as he noticed Raven glaring at him. "I mean... It's cool. Heh." He corrected with his thumbs up.
Robin looked across the hallway, "We have to get to the firing controls. There isn't much time."
Robin walked down the corridor, followed by Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and Cyborg. Winnie stayed behind the group. She kept trying to replay everything in her mind.
"Maybe I shouldn't be here. What if I don't fit in? I don't fit in anywhere so far, If I can't fit in with my own people, how am I gonna fit in with everyone else?" Winnie thought as she walked quietly, she was busy walking she accidentally bumped into the back of Cyborg.
He looks behind him to see what hit him.
"S-Sorry." Winnie blushed as she backed away, afraid she had upset him.
"Hey don't sweat it was an accident." Cyborg gave her a kind smile.
Winnie gave him a small smile but quickly got nervous.
"M-Maybe I-I shouldn't be here I don't think I'll fit in with you guys." She answered.
Cyborg placed his hand over her shoulder, "Look, Beast Boy's green. Half of me is metal. Shes is into gothic stuff. You'll fit in just fine." Cyborg and Winnie returned to the rest of the group. Robin kept lookout.
"I bring you apology." Starfire apologized. "Don't worry about it. I'm sorry I yelled too." Robin apologized back.
"And again, you are 'nice'. On my world, only my Knorfga has shown me such kindness." She smiled.
"Well, things are different here." Robin smiled. His smile caused Starfire to blush, until the moment was ruined by Beast Boy.
"Uh... Guys? I think they know we're here." Beast Boy pointed, at a small group of Gordanians ran towards them, ready for a fight.
Meanwhile, at the main bridge, the Gordanians were readying the weapon.
"Lord Trogar, the weapon has reached full power." One of the Gordanians informed the leader.
"Then begin the firing sequence." Trogar ordered.
The Gordanians began the sequence, and activated the countdown.
"The Earth scum shall learn. It takes more than six juvenile heroes to defy the mighty Lord Trogar." Trogar gloated.
The weapon was ready to fire, until an explosion, behind Trogar, shut down the weapon. The smoke cleared to reveal...
"We're not six heroes. We're one team." Robin told Trogar.
Trogar roared and everyone ran into battle. Everyone was able to hold their own against most of the Gordanians. Beast Boy used his kangaroo form, until Trogar threw him into a wall, in his human form.
Trogar aimed to finish him, but Raven stepped in and used a shield to protect herself. Trogar was able to break the shield, and aimed to finish her, until Robin jumped onto his head and gave him a few hits.
However, Trogar caught him and threw him into another wall.
Starfire gasped in worry, "Robin!" Trogar dashed to attack her. Out of anger, Starfire threw her starbolts.
Winnie shields herself with her wings as the guard tries to punch her, she extended him as she takes her hand and blasts him away, she looks over to see that Beast boy has been tackle by a guard who put his hand behind his back.
Winnie gasps, she flys up letting out an angry yell before she blast her energy though her eyes towards him, knocking the guard back. "Beast Boy are you ok?" She offers him her hand.
"Yeah I'm ok." He takes her hand. He looks to the guard in a diamond like form, unable to move.
"Whoa you crystallized him!" Beast boy looked amazed, a light bulb goes off in his head. "Crystal that can your superhero name since you don't have one."
Winnie is taken back by this as her face looked surprised.
"Y-You're right that's pretty stupid." Beast boy looked away embarrassed.
"N-No! I-I like it." Winnie smiles "N-No one has ever gave me a nickname." She smiles making Beast boys face turn red as he stared at her.
"Um Beast Boy?" Winnie said feeling uncomfortable "W-We should probably get back to the fight."
"Huh? Oh yeah right." Beast boy snaps out of his trance as they run back in to help.
Trogar caught Starfire and threw her into the floor a couple of times, but she punched her way free from his grip. Cyborg, Winnie, and Starfire, triple-teamed Trogar.
However, Trogar was able to punch them back, causing them to join Robin. Cyborg's arm jumped a little.
"Can you rewire that into some sort of weapon?" Robin asked.
"I can try." Cyborg asked.
Trogar stood above the group.
"Get away from my friends!" Raven shouted, then she chanted, "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" Her spell caused a large explosion, which caused the ship to fall into the harbor. The Gordanians were down for the count, except Trogar, who glared at Raven, sharped his claws and aimed to attack her.
However, a large blast of blue energy hit his back and knocked him out.
The blast came from Cyborg arm, which was in the form of a cannon.
"Alright. I'm only gonna say this once. Booyah." Cyborg smiled.
Everyone else smiled in victory.
.............................................................
The team was enjoying the scenery of the city from the island.
"That's quite a view." Raven said in awe.
"Somebody oughta build a house out here." Cyborg said in the same tone.
"Yeah, if you like sunshine, and the beach." Beast Boy joked, nudging Raven, who was hearing her hood down. Raven lightly smiled, "You know, you're kind of funny."
"You think I'm funny?" Beast Boy asked, then smiled in excitement, "Oh, dude. I know some jokes." Raven sweat-dropped.
"Ooh you never should said anything." Winnie shook her head as she laughed.
"Please, I look nice?" Starfire asked from behind us, as she was wearing a new outfit, which was like her old one.
But light purple, no crown and no metal plating, but arm and neck braces.
The others smiled in approval.
"I still don't know your name." Robin pointed out to the alien girl.
"In your language, it would be Star...fire." Starfire introduced herself.
"Starfire." Winnie repeated with a smile, "It suits you."
Thank you Crystal." Starfire hugged her "I have a feeling we will be most good of friends!"
"Welcome to Earth, Starfire." Robin welcomed with a smile,
"I thank you all for your bravery and help" Starfire smiled kindly, "I wish to ask permission to remain here where the people are strange but also most kind."
"Starfire looked at Robin as they both blushed.
"You don't need our permission." Raven smiled.
"And if you want our friendship you got it." Robin said.
"Guess we could all use some new friends." Cyborg added.
"Beside we all make a pretty good team." Beast Boy smiles as they gathered around in a circle.
"Just in case we ever need to contact each other, Cyborg and I made these." Robin pulled out four communicators.
"I made them out of my circuitry, so you know they're the best." Cyborg said.
Everyone takes one except for Winnie who was very shy, she looks up to see them giving her warm smiles. She smiles back as she takes the communicator.
From that day forward she wasn't Winnie Gwendolyn anymore.
She was Crystal. Former member of the Teen Titans.
