Icecream and Cookies
I stepped into the small icecream shop, excitedly looking around. The walls were pink, a large mint icecream cut out on one of them. Standing out more than the rest. There are a couple small, white, round tables around the shop. With baby blue chairs and napkins in the middle. Very few people were there. Three teenagers, laughing while listening to music. A man and a pregnant woman. Lastly, a mother with a small child around my age. Copper hair that reaches just below her shoulders. Hazel eyes with pale skin.
"But I wanna cookie, Mommy! I'm hungry and I haven't ea-" She started whining, but she's cut off when her Mother's hand covered her mouth.
I look at my Mom, and she seems worried. But when she looks at me a look of hope sparks in her eyes.
"Why don't you give your spare cookie to that little girl. She seems to be in need of a friend." She told me, signaling me out of my seat. I hesitantly grabbed my icecream and cookies, walking towards the girl and her Mother. The little girl was still huffing when I approach her.
"Uhm, hi." I was unsure of what to say, looking at my Mom for some help. She mouthed my name and points at the cookie.
"I'm Amara, would you like my cookie?" I continued, sticking the packet in front of her face. She is about to grab it hungrily when her Mother stopped her.
"Thank you, but we're fine." She said, holding a strained smile. I jump up in fright when someone placed their hand on my shoulder. I look back seeing my Mother with a wide, caring, loving smile.
"Please do take it, Amara doesn't need a icecream and two cookies anyway." She said warmly, making smooth hand movements as she spoke.
"Well, alright. Say thank you Genieve." Her Mother gave in, falling into My Mom's trap of kindness. The girl, Genieve, took the cookie thankfully.
"Thank you!" She chirps, immediately taking a big chunk out of the cookie."
"Genieve, save the cookie for later you have iceream." Her Mother instructed, handing Genieve a cookie dough icecream.
"Hey, I like cookie dough too!" I said, showing her my icecream. I heard her gasp.
"Geezers! They are the best out of all the iecreams in the whole wide world!" She replied, exaggerating the last part, forming her arms into a large circle.
"Why don't you eat at our table Genieve, your Mother too. You won't be intruding, it'd be nice for Amara to have a new friend." My Mom said, laughing slightly. Without hesitation, we skipped to the table sitting across from each other.
"I like you Evie, let's be best friends forever!" I said right before we leave the shop.
"Me too Mar Mar."

"Good times." I laugh licking my icecream. I run my fingers through my curly dark brown hair. Evie laughs, taking a bite out of her choclate chip cookie.
"Yep, I can't believe we've been friends for 10 years now! Crazy right?" She exclaims, throwing her hands in the air. Evie and I are here for my 16th birthday, and the day we first met. The same sweet shop.
"I can believe it. You know, sometimes I think fate brought us here, ya know?" I reply, taking a sip from my yummy drink.
"Yeah Mar, I bet we'll be friends for the rest of our lives. Just imagine us having a double marriage." She laughs again, rubbing the heelof her shoe on the concrete. I reposition myself into a more comfortable position on the sidewalk.
"It's weird how we come here almost everyday but today it's more special." I tell her, flicking a little piece of grass on he road.
"Today's special because it's the day icecream and cookies brought us together."
"Yep, icecream and cookies." I say, slinging my arm around her shoulders.
"Icecream and cookies..."
