All Rae Williams wanted to do was keep her head straight and get through junior year as quietly as she could. If there's anything she's learned from her past experiences, it's that 'low-key' [and quite angry] is the way to go. Unbeknownst to her, those plans rendered useless the day she bumped into Jesse O'Connor.

Jesse is the certified lovable jock of Creekwood High. He might not be the biggest deal in school, but with his looks, brains, talent, and warm all-around presence, everyone couldn't help but adore him. The only problem? He wouldn't stop making his jokes.

Jesse realizes he needed to have proper practice with a proper audience, and so starts targeting people he thinks would be tough eggs to crack. And then he spots her.

Determined to make a turning point in his futile comedy career, he sets himself off in an adventure to make the one and only Rae laugh. He offers her a reasonable deal, but Rae of course, finds this idea outrageous and simultaneously marks Jesse a madman. She eventually gives in, though, when his final deal offer had something to do with his grandma's chocolate chip cookies.

a u t h o r' s n o t e

this is a story i wrote a while back, and is pretty close to my heart because it's sappy, and cheesy, and filled with so much puns. but i have grown out of my pre-teen writing style since then, so i've decided to rewrite it. here is me giving this a try, and hopefully this will be the first actual book i'll ever finish writing!

-this is quite light overall, but don't expect it to be light throughout.

-there will be quite a number of chapters, since the chapters won't be that long.
