A small girl calls out to me. Her voice is so familiar yet why does it fill me with sadness. Her pale curly hair and her blue eyes with pink crosses. What a weird girl. As a 15 year old, she only looks about a year or two younger than me. So why does she say: "Big Brother!"

...This was apparently my little sister.

I awake in my room in a cold sweat. Honestly, my whole reason for going to the surface is to find my sister. I get flashes of memories here and there. Honestly, it's what keeps me going a lot. Even if it's false hope. I walk up out of my rocky bed. Stuck underground, living underground, seems like hell. There has to be a surface. This place isn't where I'm meant to be! I feel it! Oh that reminds me about today! I get up and walk towards a white-silverish cloth on the floor. I pick it up and wrap it my neck. I walk up to a shard of glass to look at myself.

"Good enough."

I grab my white visor and I ran out of my room while heading toward the backup stables. I saw a bunch of people so I quickly leaped over them.

"Sorry! Coming through!"

"Hey! Watch yourself, troublemaker!"

I land on my feet and get up. I turned my body to look at them.

"Actually, the name's Y/n! Ah! I got to get going! See you later!" I said as the old man looked confused. I kept running until a heard a stampede from the lower level. "Damn it! I'm running late!"

"Y/n!! Get your ass over here!!" I hear my name being called and see Kamina at the lower levels. I jump off the pathway I was on and land at least five layers down on a pigmole. "Well, well! Look who slept In!"

"Y/n?! How are you not dead?!" My other friend, Simon asked me as I look around and feel my body.

"No clue! But I do know one thing! We're gonna burst through that ceiling!"

"Damn right! And we're gonna do it with your drill!" Kamina said to Simon as he starts to freak out.

"The Unopenable Ceiling?!" Simon asked us as we got closer to the ceiling. I give him a grin.

"If we destroy that, we can prove to the village that the surface does exist!"

"At this rate! We'll be out in no time!" Kamina says but I start to see a figure above. They better move out of the way, I don't think these pigmole have and off button. "Here it comes! Go Simon!"

"Kamina?! Y/n?! It's always you two trouble makers! You've really out done yourselves this time!" The chief says to us as I stand on the pigmole ready to fight.

"Outta the way!"

"You idiots!!"

Turns out, pigmoles do have an off switch. You just have to hit them really, really hard. I wish I didn't have to learn that the hard way. I fall off of the pigmole just as the chief swings his sword.

The chief knocks over the tower of pigmoles we had and raid to the surface is ruined...

Alright so...being stuck in shackles isn't funny as I thought it would be...

"Would you people come to your senses!? This mysterious surface of yours doesn't exist!"

"Like hell it doesn't! I've seen it myself! On the surface there's no walls, no ceiling! All you see is a right blue sky!"

"A liar's son is a liar too! Your old man did nothing but spout crap like that." The chief says to Kamina as I decided to speak up.

"Well what about me?! Huh!? Where are my parents!? You don't even know how I got here!" I say as the chief looked at me in disbelief and anger.

"Your...family...they were probably just hiding you! Deep underground! That's it!"

"What kind of bullshit excuse was that?! Nobody even knew he was here! And you want to know where he came from?!" Kamina said as he pointed upwards with his shackles. "He came from the surface! He crashed down from the surface and got caged down here! That's the only logical explanation!"

"That's nonsense! For untold generations we've been told never to unseal the canopy to keep the people safe! So it doesn't make sense for Y/n to crash down from above! People who can't follow those simple rules don't get to eat! To the stockade with you! Without food!" The chief said as the three others besides us kneeled down.

"Ah! We're so sorry, Sir!"

"You weasels!" Kamina and I said looking at them while the chief laughed. The chief unlocked their shackles but I just look at them in disgust.

"Sorry bro! Had to do it."

"No food is like death..."

"Come on bro, just sallow your pride and apologize too!"

"Stop calling me bro!" Kamina said to them seriously. "I don't ever want to be called bro by the likes of you three backstabbing losers"

The three coward in fear as i look at the chief.

"Bonds don't run deep in this village."

He then stares at me. "You need something from me, old geezer?"

"Aren't you going to join them?" He said as I scoffed at him and gave him a cocky smile.

"I ain't gonna abandon my bro. You say bonds don't run deep here, but if that's the case...then none of these people should listen to you. And yet, they trust your actions, instructions, and traditions. You have to do follow the rules, just like the three of us have to break that surface."

I say as the chief takes my words into consideration and takes off my cuffs. They drop to the floor but I look towards him in anger.

"Put them back on..." I say as Kamina looks at me with a smile. The chief is confused. "Put them back on! I won't be given special treatment! Put them on Damn it!"

He slaps them back on and then uncuffs Simon. "Simon, you come with me. You have important work to do on the 'Giha Village Horizontal Expansion Plan.'

"A holedigging genius like you shouldn't hang around with fools." I have an unreadable expression on my face as so did Kamina.

"B-But..."

"Go." Kamina interjected. "Don't worry about us. We'll be fine."

The ground below suddenly begins to move. The chief gains a panicked look on his face.

"Earthquake!" People start running in their holes. Me and Kamina don't move one bit. "Everyone take cover!"

"Kamina! Y/n! Let's get out of here! Guys!" Simon tells us.

"I'm not going anywhere, Simon." I say to him. He has a terrified look on his face. I remember his parents died in one of these earthquakes.

"If we don't we'll die!" He shouts as Kamina then hugs him tight.

"Ah yeah...that happen to you. Don't worry it already stopped. Are you going to keep living in fear of earthquakes day after day! Up on the surface, there ain't no ceiling!" Kamina said as the chief came out from hiding.

"Give it a rest would ya! I didn't look after all you orphan kids out of the goodness of my heart! I did it because I am the chief and it's my duty to look after the well fare of this village! But if you people can't do what I tell you there's no place for you here!"

I was tied up along with Kamina as I got bored so I broke out. I looked at Kamina. "This reminds me when we first met, doesn't it?"

He chuckled and looked at me as I started stretching. "Yep, the village was worried about you becasue no one knew where ya came from. Then you stole my pigmole steak from me and Simon."

"To be fair, no one was feeding me so it's only natural."

"Hey, are those swords still with you?" Kamina asked me as I shook my head.

"They are but, there in that thing I found down here. But, I can't figure out how to work it. But if we make it work, it could get us out of here." I said as Kamina started chuckling.

"Man. I'm glad we stuck together. You and Simon are both alike, you both and your connections to drills..." Kamina said to me but I've never been good with a drill. It seems I had visible confusion because he laughed again. "I'm sure you don't understand. See if Simon's the drill then you are the handle. Not that you'll be behind him, but that you both need each other to push forward."

I'm not sure what he means. He and Simon are best friends sure, but he never really needed me for anything. Just then the ground started to rift apart and Simon came with his drill.

"Speak of the devil."

"Kamina! Y/n! Come on! There's something you've gotta see!" Simon said with a big smile on his face.

"Yeah but...that would be a jail break." Kamina breaks his rope restraints as well and then we exit the cells.

"Simon, you know what happens if we got caught. You might be tied up next to us." I said as we walked.

"That didn't even occur to me until now..."

"Well we shouldn't have to worry about that if we get back before morning." Kamina says. "So what is so important down here that you had to bust us out of jail for."

"It's this awesome humungous face!" Simon says in excitement. But lights start to blind us.

"You two have some nerve breaking out."

"Simon, I didn't want to see this face this late at night." I say as Kamina chuckled along with me. The chief didn't like that.

"You've got some nerve! I'm the village chief which means I also stand guard! Simon! That goes for you too! I know all about those extra tunnels you've been digging on secret!"

"Now hang on a second. He has nothing to do with us. We told him to break us out." I as Kamina and I step forward.

"Yeah, leave him. He hasn't done anything. We're the guilty ones." Kamina said as he got in our faces.

"Trust me! I'm very well of how guilty you two are!" The chief shouts as he hits us with the sheath of his sword. But I don't flinch. He hits me multiple times and I don't move a single step and just stare at him.

Suddenly the ground starts to shake and the tremor lifted everyone off the ground. Suddenly, the unopenable ceiling, broke. We all stared at it as a bright light came down from above.

"So Simon, this thing you wanted to show us...is this it?" Kamina says as I unconsciously get into a fighting stance. Soon Kamina wraps his hand around my waist and pulls me in. "Look up! That's the surface! I told you there was a surface up there! This big mug fell from the surface! From above the ceiling just like Y/n here! Ain't that right, Mr. Chief?!"

The figure rises and suddenly I get this urge to go back to that thing I found. "Kamina! I'll be back!"

"You ain't running on me, right?" Kamina says as I shake my head and give him a smile.

"Are you kidding?! No way! I'm think that thing is gonna work now!" I say as he nodded.

"Alright! Go on! I'm going to have a chat with Mr. Coward here!" He says as the figure begins to move. I dash back to my room and grab my swords and dash under the bed. There's a hole that I've been digging. There are more tremors and I pray that I won't get crushed in.

"Alright! Come on! Almost...got it!!" I say as I hop out of a wall. More tremors are heard and I can hear metal hitting something out. "There you are! This should be fun!"

I run up to the white and turquoise metal figure and climb on to it. A tremor happens and I almost fall off but I catch myself. I continue to climb as I try to enter the chest. "Hmm? Why aren't you opening?"

Suddenly, I start glowing turquoise. "What the hell?!"

The brain/top of the figure opens as I decide to climb in. There's a dash board I front of me as the space around me is shining turquoise. I don't know what to do so I move around a bit. I then hear Simon and a lady scream and get worried. "Simon?! Are you okay!? Damn it! Alright, LET'S GO!"

The circle on the dashboard gets white cubes that fill up the circle, counterclockwise. I feel the figure get up and I feel...connected to it.

"I've never done this before...have I?"

"AHHHH!"

"Right! Let's move out!" I say as the figure runs out of the cave I kept it in and saw a the big monster thing eat Simon and Kamina. I punch it's teeth and pull them out.

"Who the hell are you?" Kamina asked me as I chuckle.

"Really? I thought you knew me better than that, Kamina!"

"No way! Y/n, is that you?!" Simon asked me as my...robot give it a thumb up and the stomach smiles!

"The one and only! Gotta say, Simon! You're looking pretty short!"

"No way, dude! You're just tall! Where'd you find something like that?!"

(Imagine the black is replaced with white and red is replaced with turquoise.)

"Who is this?" I hear a girls voice ring out. Kamina chuckled.

"That's our best friend, Y/n! Mind giving us a hand?" Kamina says as the figure tried to hit me. I dodge it and kick it in the...face? "Simon! Get that drill ready for you to fly past! Y/n hold him steady!"

I nodded and punched the other robot a couple times as it tries to bite me. Simon's robot comes under my armpit and drills through it. I suddenly get a drill out of the holes on my chest as a slender drill points upwards. I smile and leap towards the ceiling!

Simon rises to the surface with his robot and me with mine right next to him.

"Goodbye, Giha Village!" Kamina says as I smirk.

"One final push! One more step closer!" I shout as we all begin shouting and go flying into the air. Air. Sky! "Wow!"

The group opens their hatch as do I as we all watch the beautiful surface.

"It's so beautiful!" Simon says as I shout to him.

"Hell yeah it is! This is a new step for team Gurren!" I say and give a thumbs up. Kamina and Simon give me a thumbs up back.

"Yoko."

"Huh?" We all say as we look at the red head with a ponytail. She looks at me with a tiny blush.

"My name. We've all never been formally introduced." Yoko says as Kamina puts his arm on Simon's head.

"I'm Kamina, this is Simon, and the punk over there is Y/n!" Kamina says to her.

"Oi! What lies are you spitting!? If anyone here is a punk it's you!"

"What was that, Rock Boy?!"

"That doesn't work on me if we come from the same village, dumbass!"

Simon sighed and looked at Yoko who was confused but had a smile on her face. "Don't worry about them. They do this everyday."

"Hehehe. Wait. Is it me or are we falling?" Yoko said raising a major flag.

"Why the hell would you say something like that?!" I shouted at her as we all started falling.

"Simon, turn the thrusters on!"

"I don't know how! Wait! What about Y/n!?"

"What about him!? Focus on saving us first!"

"You guys are assholes!!!" I shout to the group as we all start falling faster. They are struggling to hold on. "I got you guys!"

I close my hatch and grab the tiny robot after they close their hatch. I curl up into a ball as we hit the ground and all go flying out. I see Yoko flying towards my direction so I grab her an spin on my back to protect her from damage.

"...talk about...a rough reception." Kamina spits out as Simon is next to him.

"No kidding."

"Hey, you okay?" I asked Yoko as I realized her boobs her were muffling my voice. She quickly sat up on my lap.

"Oh! S-Sorry!" She said as we both blush heavily, I then got a look of worry but soon whipped it off with a challenging smile. Yoko was confused until she turned around on my lap. Yoko sees two more robots and gets a scowl.

"Outta the frying pan and into the flame."
