Chapter 14: A Goth Puppy
Scott's hands were still over his eyes, and as he slowly put them down, he realized that the glowing mist had disappeared.
In it's place stood another man who looked a lot like Scott, except this man had purple hair, violet eyes, and was waaaay taller. Like, he looked around six and a half feet tall, if not larger.
The man looked around before his confused eyes landed on him, and he said, with surprise and confusion in his voice, "Scott?"
Scott went to reply when Jimmy shrieked and tackled Scott. Him and Jimmy went tumbling into a bookshelf, which fell over on top of them, covering Scott in various heavy books. Scott had only gotten that bookshelf so that he would look intelligent, and now he seriously regretted it.
"Oh no, hang on, let me help you." The man said, and Scott heard footsteps before the book were pulled away from his face, and he blinked at the Goth Scott, who was smiling rather nervously at him. "Um, thank you?" Scott said, and wriggled out of the pile of books.
Jimmy, meanwhile, also pulled himself out of the mess of books, but instead of thanking the man, he scrambled away and grabbed an ornate dagger that was on display, pointing it at Goth Scott.
"Stay away, Xornoth! I have a weapon, and I'll use it!" Jimmy said, sounding terrified. Scott looked at Xornoth, who was standing awkwardly with a look of...sadness? Scott said incredulously, "This is the big scary demon that destroyed the world? He looks like a goth puppy who got lost on the way to the anime convention."
Jimmy stared incredulously at Scott, while Xornoth began to fiddle with his fingers anxiously, obviously worried, and Scott focused on him and asked, "Are you the demon, or is this a case of mistaken identity? Also, why do you look like me?"
"Well, um, so I am Xornoth? But I'm not corrupted anymore? And-" Xornoth began, before he apparently realized something. "Ohhhhhhhh. You're the future one!" he said, pointing excitedly at Scott.
This was all very confusing, but so was everything else that had happened in the last week or so. Scott nodded, and Xornoth said, "Yeah, so you look like me because I'm the past Scott's brother. We're brother through a past life!" Suddenly getting serious, he said, "I wonder if that means the soulbound extends to you too..."
Scott waited for him to continue talking, but Xornoth had begun to stare into space, apparently unaware of his surrounding, so Scott look to Jimmy instead, who was looking at Xornoth with a look of absolute confusion on his face.
They would get nowhere with this. The uncorrupted demon was a puppy, Jimmy was too bewildered to do anything, and Scott didn't know most of the story. Clapping his hands to gather Xornoth's attention, he said, "Ok, so here's what we're going to do. You're staying with us, until the meeting tomorrow, and then you'll go with us to help the rest of the rulers with what's going on."
Both Jimmy and Xornoth began protesting this plan, Jimmy saying, "He's too dangerous to be trusted! He could be faking it!" and Xornoth saying, "They hate me! I'll be killed on sight!"
Scott told Jimmy, "If he's faking it, then there'll be 24 people there to fight him, instead of just us two." Looking to Xornoth, he said, "It's not negotiable for you. I'm not dealing with this shit on my own."
Surprisingly enough, they both backed down, although Jimmy left the room immediately, probably not wanting to be anywhere around the demon. Xornoth was standing in the middle of the room, looking at all the collectibles in awe.
"Did you gather all of these?" he asked, staring at a shield Scott had attempted to steal from Sanctuary. Sausage had caught him taking it, but he let Scott steal it anyways, saying that he could always get another. Scott would never understand that man.
"I actually did, with the exception of a few that were given to me a gifts. It's actually how I found the crystal you were in." Scott said, replying to Xornoth's earlier query. Pulling the amethyst crystal out of his pocket, he asked the man, "Do you know what this is?"
Xornoth took the crystal to get a better look, but as soon as he grabbed it, it flared with sudden light, and Xornoth dropped it and scrambled away as fast as he could, leaving Scott to pick up the bipolar amethyst from the ground.
"I'm assuming that's a yes?" Scott asked, and Xornoth said, somewhat fearfully, "That's the crystal that was on the top of the Wizard of the Crystal Cliff's staff. They used it to put me in the crystal. I guess it doesn't like me too much."
Scott was done with all of this. He didn't usually drink, but now seemed like a great time to go down like, 6 bottles or something. Unfortunately, he had to stay sober because there was a meeting with the other rulers tomorrow, and he really didn't want to attend that with a hangover.
Shaking his head, he grabbed Xornoth's arm and began to pull him towards the stairs. He complied, seemingly forgetting about the crystal and looking around at all the decorations again.
Scott showed him to a room he could stay in before heading to his own. He should have slept, seeing as he didn't the night before, but Scott wasn't sleepy, so he sat on his bed with the half-made fedora and tried to make heads and tails of it.
Scott didn't know how much time had passed before a knock came at the door, but it was really late at night already. Opening the door, he found Xornoth, standing somewhat awkwardly.
"The other one is out." he whispered. This made no sense to Scott, but he figured the poor guy had probably had a nightmare or something. Letting him into the room, Scott went back to his project, leaving Xornoth to do what he wanted.
Which was apparently to prod at his hat. "What's that?" Xornoth asked. Scott looked at the six and half foot man, who was staring at it with a mix of confusion and awe. "It's my fedora. I'm trying to make it." Scott said slowly, trying to see if the demon was making fun of him.
"That's so cool! Can I help?" Xornoth asked, already sitting down next to Scott and grabbing a handful of glitter from a bowl.
Scott regarded the man thoughtfully. Xornoth was nothing like Scott had been thinking of. Instead of the bloodthirsty, evil demon out to destroy the world, he was a confused, energetic guy who apparently loved glitter, since he was playing with the handful in his hand, shifting it around and watching it sparkle.
"Sure, I guess." Scott replied eventually. Grabbing a square of fabric and his blueprints, he explained to Xornoth what the plans were, and they both worked on the fedora late into the night, until they both fell asleep on the mess on Scott's bed.
