Chapter 48 Part 4: Catching One of the Perpetrators

[A Day After Sophia Graveheart-Aurand's Abduction]

[Church of Saint Isaiah, Monoceros Keep. 6:15 PM]

Ivo headed to the church after his work at Arthas's Workshop. Instead of sulking from what happened to his girlfriend, he started praying in Chergari and then in Franken which he expressed his burdens and frustrations to the Great Mother Photis and Her Heavenly Hosts. He was sitting and still praying at the bench when Valeera heard him. She felt sorry for the geomancer-mechanic after his girlfriend and her aunt got abducted.

Valeera remained where she was, in deep thought of wanting to either greet him or talk about his recent losses. Then, she said," The pain of losing someone from either passing on or taken, is a deep pain that shouldn't be left with one to bare."

" Danke. I mean, Merci, " the ginger haired Chergarian slightly smiled and sadly sighed. " I know why Pierre wanted to save Nirvana so badly. Then, Marie lost Neil. I know your aunt is the most diligent, responsible, and kindest nurse I have ever met. I tried so hard to save her, but I failed in doing it. "

" Never give into despair, Ivo. there's always a glimmer of getting them back once we've tracked them down, " the lady Paladin replied and lightly tapped her sword on the ground." Just like how my father found me."

" Can you tell me that story of when and how did Kintor fight against the Goblins? " he asked.

[One Hundred Years Ago: The Howling Cove, Sangraea]

In a warm sunny afternoon, Little Valeera Graveheart was playing and incessantly chasing butterflies at the flower field as  she wanted to catch more. Her parents watched over her as Fiona was picking some fruits on the tree. Valeera didn't mind and continued chasing the colorful winged insects.

Kintor came from outside of his tent, with book in hand. The elemental bender then smiled joyfully to his daughter playing around, with his loving wife.

" Have you found the freshest of apples, my two light benders? " he asked.

" Ci, mi amor, " the brunette Rogacian-Sangraean woman nodded and kissed her spouse, holding the basket of delicious red apples." You can have your share. "

" Father, can I catch that butterfly? " Valeera asked.

" Go for it, Sunshine, this butterfly may be a worthy pet for you! " Kintor slowly stroke his wife's medium length hair, and nodded to her." If your mother is okay with it."

" Okay! " she nodded.

Valeera was about to catch the blue butterfly which it was sipping at the golden yellow buttercup. Suddenly, there was a strange looking creature lurking around the grassland and the flowerfield. It was targeting at the family, specifically the little blonde elven girl.

For Valeera, she failed to catch the insect. Instead, she picked the buttercup flower from the long green stem. The little elven girl heavily sighed and gloomily lowered her head. Without her knowledge, she was being grabbed by someone with strange dark arms and strong hands covering her mouth. She loudly moaned as she was supposed to cry for help.

Fiona became very uneasy and turned to her husband, " Kintor, our daughter..."

" Valeera! Please come back dear! " Kintor shouted out with a loud worry distress." She hadn't gone that far..."

" Are you going to head into the forests again without your brother?! " she asked with concern. " I'll ask Christopher to help you and Sophia to tend your wounds. "

“ Sunlight, There’s little time to wait for Christopher and Lucina, I’ll find where Valera was taken and use a spell to track her down. And they’ll have to catch up with before we find our daughter, ” Kintor intently replied. ” I won’t allow a filthy Goblin to harm her.”

Just then, a young blue haired with a ponytail elven lady quickly arrived and asked, " Is everything alright, cousin? "

" Sophia, we need you to get ready, " Fiona turned to her. " Your niece has been missing. "

" Oui, " Sophia heavily sighed and answered. " I am having a bad feeling about this. I'll bring my supplies and herbs just in case. "

" Please make haste, Sophia, and is Christopher coming as well? " Kintor asked, and with grabbing his book and staff. The mage locked his focus on the woods ahead." The reports of Goblins lingering near our camp were true..."

" Oui. I'm afraid they are out there, " Sophia nodded. " I'll go ahead and get Christopher as well. "

The young elven healer headed herself to the village. Moments later, she brought Christopher and some supplies.

" Kintor, I heard what happened, " the ranger elf said.

With a worried look, his half brother replied, " Valeera was taken by those foul fiends that have dared to tresspass in our lands." Kintor then tightened his grip around his staff.

" I guess the three of us will be going there, " Christopher replied. " Sophia, you come with us. "

" Oui, D'accord. " Sophia nodded.

The three headed to the dense forest and searched for the goblins' lair. Sophia turned her head around and focused in finding the strange beings. Waving his hand to the left, the elemental bender moved a shrub of bushes, and treaded along, where he came across a familiar belonging to his daughter.

" Her wooden sword...She was here before..." Kintor knelt down to grab it, and slowly moved a finger along it's handle." Can you sense her, Sophia? "

" I can hear fresh water rushing on the river, " she said and deduced. " If we follow upstream, the cave is just near to the waterfall. We are going to the goblin's lair! "

" Right, we can go on the riverside and follow the trail," Christopher agreed.

" The Howling cove, a cavern rumored to be cursed...by mother, our Elder Merrill, " Kintor intently replied." I once told Valeera to avoid coming out this far, because of those rumors of dark creatures residing inside there..."

" I think I have a plan on this one, " the ranger elf snapped his fingers. " We can keep them busy whilst Sophia and I can make a surprise attack. "

" It will require time for me to summon the waters and splash our enemies, " Sophia answered.

" It's alright. We can still take time until we are ready, cousin. "

" That's the time we can rejoin Kintor after we diverted the goblins. What do you think? "

" Oui, je suis d'accord. Faisons cela. (Yes, I agree. Let's do this.) " the hydromancer and healer elf nodded and answered with determination.

Casting a small ember of flames from the tip of his hands, Kintor nodded with a single motion and then cascaded his view towards the path ahead.

" Once you precured my daughter, I'll roast these Goblins into nothingness, for stealing my sunshine," he sternly said.

The two nodded and joined Kintor while walking upward going to the waterfall. From a distance, they saw a small group of strange looking creatures murmuring in gibberish. Christopher gestured Kintor and Sophia in hiding behind the bushes. They were observing and waiting for an opportunity to attack according to plan.

" Sniveling pests...the lots of them are the worst," Kintor whispered in a low tone." Sophie and Christopher, we'll halt them here and prevent any of them from escaping."

" When I become a nurse or a doctor, I have no choice but to study their bodies in post mortem, " Sophia sighed.

" Sophia, did you even interact with humans at the hospital or  clinic? " Christopher asked.

" Non, I just observed what they do to the deceased. When it comes to the goblins, I think this will be an important requirement for basic anatomy even such obnoxious odor they have..." she lowly remarked, smelled their scent, and frowned covering her nose. " Comme c'est insalubre! Très dégoûtant! (How unsanitary! Very disgusting!) "

The goblins noticed something from a distance as they murmured and looked at the bushes. Sophia seemed to be vigilant while covering her nose. The three of them watched them searching around the riverside.

" Goblins have a keen sense of smell, we'll have to use it against them," Kintor advised. Then with a spell of using the air, he sent out the foul smell of the bog, and used it to disguise their scent.

" Perhaps, Sophia's hydromancy will do, " Christopher suggested. " Now, give them a shower. "

Sophia casted Whipslash which the river water rose like a long whip and splashed the goblins in making them wet. They were mumbling in gibberish which they ended up soaking and dripping. One of them wanted to go to the river and retaliate.

Suddenly, Christopher took an arrow and released it, striking on the three of them. They instantly fell when the two were left. Sophia casted another spell when the waterfall's motion diverted and splashed at the other two and being dragged by the river's strong current.

Bringing both hands up, Kintor summoned an icy wall, forced it down upon the several lone stragger's, and watched them fall under its weight." The scouts have been dealt with, there's bound to be more within the heart of the cavern."

" Right, let's go, " Christopher nodded.

Heading to the cave, they have noticed more goblins to confront. They were more sinister and stronger than the scouting group. Some were hulking and excessively tall. Kintor saw his daughter being held as a captive and a sacrifice.

" Putrid wretches...none of these Goblins will lay a finger on her." Kintor exclaimed then slightly turning to Sophia and asked." We'll strike them down all at once, or go with Christopher's plan to execute our next steps." These Umbra followers are going to feel the wrath of the Dread Wolves."

" I think both will do, " she replied.

 " Ready? " Christopher asked.

 " Ready..."

Lifting up his staff, the Mage nodded, " All three, we'll strike as one."

Kintor counted down, and soon manifested two stone walls. Then, he smashed the two together in taking three Goblins in between and crushing them. Sophia summoned the water coming from the waterfall and give them a massive splash to drown them. Christopher used silver light radiance spell to blind them. The goblins were crushed and smashed by the two walls. Some were blinded and the others were brought by strong force of the water and drowned into the river.

The remaining goblins had come to retaliate and charged the trio. They were angrily hissing and growling when they rushed to charge against the elven intruders. Raising one hand up, The Mage made a motion and sent the very earth to rise up and catapult the Goblins, then having them land on the hard stone floor, which left them open for the others.

" Deal with the first wave with the harshest way!" Kintor then created spikes from under them that pierced the first four of the Goblins.

The Goblins were striken down and ended up bleeding through their stomachs. The others were severely injured. Just then, Christopher struck down the injured ones on their chesy as they  instantly met their demise. Sophia casted out a strong water current from the river and washed the surviving and escaping ones out. The thought of his daughter kidnapped by these infernal creatures had erupted inside the father, of a rage towards these pestilent rodents, that with reading a page from his book. Kintor extended out his staff and sent a bolt of electricity to circulate on electrifying the escaping Goblins. The goblins were stunned down and charred. They fell down into their demise. Kintor surveyed the cavern and sought for the main leading Goblin.

" Every one of these gangs of Goblins are lead by a superior, a Hob Goblin...it's ought to be here somewhere..." he forewarned his brother and cousin.

" Father, help!! " a familiar voice yelled from a distance.

" Valeera...." The father urgently rushed over and searched for his frightened daughter. " Sunshine, I'm coming for you! "

He created a fireball to illuminate the path and followed from where his daughter was yelling from. Just then, Kintor saw his daughter being held as a meal to the great goblin. It was ready to devour the little elven girl. Then, it noticed the mage approaching to it and loudly growled. He paused and held his hammer, confronting him.

" You abomination will shallow this instead! And for committing a horrendous act of trying to devour my daughter! The rage of nature will have you! " Kintor released a barrage of heavy rocks at the Beast's maw.

The goblin quickly dodged from the attacks and then crushed them down with his hammer, breaking into fragments. One of the rocks ricocheted and grazed Kintor, making him wounded at his right arm. The goblin loudly laughed and spoke in gibberish. Groaning from the wound, the mage then lifted his left hand a launched a fray of icicles towards the glutton's gut.

" Don't you dare mock us!, you repugnant filth! " He angrily spat and  then followed his first spell by sending a flaming orb towards its face.

The mad goblin got pinned down and wounded on his gut. Also, his face got burned reaching towards his body. He loudly yelled in pain. Finally, the elemental mage was able to reach Valeera and release her.

" Father..." she instantly hugged him.

Bending down, the mage warmly hugged his daughter and smiled happily." My dear Sunshine! You shouldn't have gone through this terrible affair." He then looked to the emblazed Hobgoblin." Valeera, don't look, for this beast still deserves it's punishment." He summoned two stone walls and then slowly closed them down on the Goblin." You'll never harm anyone of my tribe again, and to this day! I'll become the bane of all you're kind! " He crushed the last of the Goblin's cries.

Sophia and Christopher watched the father and daughter reunited as they sighed in relief.

" Mes Dieux! " the elven healer and hydromancer sighed in relief.  " You are all safe! "

" Father, you're bleeding! " Valeera worryingly exclaimed. " Aunt Sophia, he needs healing! "

Turning over his arm, the Mage sighed lightly from not notizing his injury.

" A father barely notices a minor sting when he's heroically saving his daughter, Sunshine, " Kintor smiled to his daughter.

" Sophia, it's your call, " Christopher reminded.

" Oui, " the elven hydromancer and healer summoned a fresh water coming from the waterfall. She had a handful of water in cleansing the wound from her cousin. Then, she took out some guava leaves and aloe vera sticks, applying it to the wound. Then, she wrapped Kintor's arm with cloth bandages.

" Je sais que ça va faire mal, cousin, mais tu en seras guéri. Veuillez ne pas retirer les bandages dans les cinq jours. (I know this will hurt, cousin, but you will be healed from this. Please don't remove the bandages within five days.) " she seriously reminded him in Franken.

" Elude yourself from worrying, I'll take a good rest and spending my time with being there for my daughter, Sophie, " Kintor assured her, and patted his daughter's head." The danger of the Goblins is now dealt with for good."

" I'm all good to see you again, father! " Valeera hugged him.

" I'm doing this to look after your health as a future nurse and a doctor, " Sophia intently smiled and humourously hinted. " Who knows you will be meeting another doctor very soon. "

" Our only doctor is you, Sophia. From having taken a special training lesson from Merrill, you have adapted marvelously in using your water magic to mend with wounds, to other talents of your art, " Kintor complemented her.

" Thank you, cousin, " she smiled.

" Father, Uncle, Aunt, let's go home, " Valeera faintly smiled and yawned.

" Well, we are going my dear niece, " Christopher said.

[Present Time]

" I know what you mean, Valeera. Your father took courage in saving you from there, " Ivo sincerely smiled and thought of asking. " I'm sorry if I ask you this, but what happened to him? "

Lowering her head, the Paladin hesitated from wanting to discuss about it." No, it's about time i shared my father's final journey, and the brave fight he'd upheld in fighting with his comrades in the darkest time of his life..."

Ivo sadly sighed and gently patted Valeera's head, " My sincerest condolences. I know your aunt, uncle, and then everyone in your family shared the same sentiment and loss. You're right. The pain of losing someone from either passing on or taken, is a deep pain that shouldn't be left with one to bare. Your father's life was never in vain, but his memories are still alive through you. I wished I met him in the first place, but I am honored to take his place inheriting his power of the earth along with Maman Arielle. This is the only way to keep them alive. Perhaps, you can always honor him in your own way. " Then, he looked up and turned to her, " I'll do whatever it takes to rescue your aunt, Valeera, just like your father did to you. "

" Both of us will be getting her back, then destroying these dark lucid creatures and pushing them back into the shadows." Valeera replied." Like my father had done, I'll be bringing justice to all these Umbral Cultists." She then places both hands on her lap." We'll rescue all, who've been taken by them."

" Ja, ich stimme dir zu. Wir werden sie mit zurückbringen. Danke, Valeera. (Yes, I agree with you. We'll bring her back with us. Thank you, Valeera.) " he sincerely smiled and nodded at her.

[Montmartre Residence, 3rd of After Witching, Year 427, 7:28 PM]

Ivo had just arrived from the church after talking to Valeera and seen his sister, Marie who remained sullen. Pierre and Nirvana were both talking to her in the living room. Amnon and Glenda with Emie were also talking of the same abduction from the kitchen area.

He already learned from what Kintor had done in order to save Valeera. He would do to save Sophia, Neil, or anyone who were abducted.

“ Are you okay, Marie? ” Ivo asked with concern.

" I'm not feeling well, Ivo, " she sadly spoke.

" We’ll get Neil back. Don’t you worry, ” Ivo said to his sister.

" Are you sure? How? " she asked.

" We asked the Blue Knight for help and decided to team up. We will find a way to bring anyone back, " Pierre assured.

" You have to be careful the tunnel is very dark. The guards are there as well, " Nirvana reminded.

“ I learned something from the story of Kintor’s battle with the goblins that Valeera shared with me, ” Ivo revealed.

" How? " the Army captain asked.

Amnon, Glenda, and their daughter just joined the others in the living room and listened to the conversation. They sat on the other couch.

" We need strength and courage to save the people we cherish. If we sit around here with low morale and lack of hope. We won’t be able to rescue any of our people. Kasius Tucker and his Umbral cultist allies need to be stopped, ” Ivo said to his family as he gave them words of encouragement.

" So, you got inspired from Kintor's story, mon frère? " Amnon asked.

Ja. ” Ivo nodded at Amnon.

" Kintor would been proud of you, if you met him, " the doctor replied.

“ He would be proud of all of us, not just me, ” Ivo replied.

" We'll just offer a remembrance for him very soon. "

Marie waited for the time to speak up as she remembered of her interview with Chirox this morning and Neil's sharing of the information from two days ago. She instantly broke her silence, " Guys, there's something you should all know..."

“ What is it? ” Ivo curiously asked Marie.

Pierre, Nirvana, Glenda, and Amnon turned their attention to the future lawyer.

" Senator Carolus Le Roy funded the Ordrè de Damocles and the allied Umbral Cults, " she answered. " He just squandered the government funds for war and terror. "

Verdammt! Everyday the Foranea government continues to deteriorate due to the Umbral Cults! ” Ivo said with frustration.

" So, that explains why the government funds didn't come to the health care sector. Thus, that tells us why there were so many delays happening in the hospital, " Amnon heavily sighed. " There are rumours that Monoceros Keep General Hospital will be shut down. "

" And that means, the Foranean government will focus on wars? " Glenda chimed in and anxiously theorised, while carrying Emie. " People will be going on strike for this including us as medical workers. We can't just disregard health care for some foolish reasons. A lot of people are getting sick, injured, and dying. That doesn't even make any sense?! "

Emie suddenly cried as she heard her mother furiously ranted. Glenda heavily sighed and hushed her little daughter, gently rubbing her back.

" I'm so sorry, Emie. I didn't mean to upset you..." she spoke to her baby.

" Merde! Still, everything doesn't even make any sense, " Pierre sternly spoke and crossed his arms. " Like are they trying to kill us all? What's next education, law, welfare, security, military, and everything will be in great ruckus and flushing down the drain? "

" This is going to be another Robania if this will happen, " Amnon sighed.

" Look, I'm sorry for bringing this up. Neil has been investigating where the funds had gone. Only to find out from Monsieur Friedrich, that Le Roy has squandered them by funding the experimentations and warfare weapons, " Marie admitted. " I really need to help him and Neil gather all the evidences against them. "

“ We need to save what remains of the Foranea government and aid in rebuilding this country, ” Ivo suggested.

" It may be risky, but we're going to do this, " Pierre replied.

Amnon nodded at his siblings. Suddenly, he heard the phone loudly rang and picked it up, " Bonsoir, c'est la résidence Montmartre. Puis-je savoir qui est-ce-? (Good evening, this is Montmartre residence. May I know who's this?) "

“ Evening, Amnon or should I say Blue Knight, ” Kasius evilly answered.

Amnon frowned a bit and recognised the voice. He remained silent and then nonchalantly spoke in Neo-Yddrassi, pretending to be oblivious, " I'm sorry. There's no one called the Blue Knight living here. This is Doctor Montmartre, speaking. May I know who's this? "

“ It’s your old friend, Kasius, ” he revealed.

" Tucker..." he sternly asked. " How did you know my phone number? "

“ From your friends, Sophia and Neil. I’m quite astonished they survived interrogation, ” Kasius evilly said.

" W-What did you do to them?! "

“ Sophia and Neil are fine for now. Perhaps they’ll be successful subjects like my first one, ” Kasius smirked.

" Don't tell me you're continuing this forbidden magic. Tucker, your father asked you to surrender if the police will ever find you. "

" So you talked to my father as well? You still think I’m redeemable, Amnon?! Especially after I captured Sinara and her lousy cat and turned them into my newest subject?! ” Kasius evilly said.

" W-What have y-you d-done?! " Amnon raised his voice in shock as everyone turned his attention to him.

“ I’ve done what’s necessary to make the world a better place! You never understood what I was doing here! You still don’t! ” Kasius angrily yelled.

" Listen, Tucker! What you're doing is an absolute crime! It's punishable by death! You never understood such consequences you have done! "

“ You should’ve taken the deal, Amnon! I would’ve made you stronger than before. Your arm could’ve been back. Think about it!” Kasius said with frustration.

" How on Iliad did you know about my sudden encounter with the Carnival and the accident in St. Essa?! " the Akrovian-Foranean doctor angrily yelled. " Tell me!  Have you been stalking me there?! Were you following me everywhere with my contractor guild friends?! You knew nothing, Tucker! "

Glenda, Emie, Pierre, Nirvana, Marie, and Ivo noticed his sudden rage. They shared glances and felt sorry for him, remaining silent.

“ I know you’re the Blue Knight as well. It wasn’t hard to piece it together. You have bio-electric spells. So does Marie. I wonder who else had these bio-electric spells? The Blue Knight! You should’ve limit the usage of your spells, Amnon! ” Kasius evilly laughed.

" Nón! J'en ai assez de ces bêtises! Ne smey protivostoyat' mne! Chego ty na samom dele khochesh'?! (No! I have enough of this nonsense! Don't you dare to confront me! What do you really want?!) " Amnon furiously replied in Franken and Luski, controlling his bioelectric spells.

“ To let you know my plans won’t be stopped! I’ll make sure your family and friends will suffer. The Blue Knight will be known as the person who failed to save anyone, especially his own family! ” Kasius evilly said.

" Merde! Cyka Blyat! "

“ You won’t be the hero of Foranea for long! Au revoir! (Goodbye!) ” Kasius evilly laughed as hung up the phone.

Amnon became furious and managed not to zap anyone. Then, he angrily placed the receiver into the telephone body and took a deep inhale and exhale. Glenda and Emie looked at him with concern.

“ Amnon? What happened? ” Ivo asked his brother with concern.

" Tucker already knew me and the Blue Knight are the same person, " he replied in sign language since Nirvana and Marie  had no knowledge of the doctor's alter ego.

Verdammt! ” Ivo sighed with frustration.

" Tucker has Neil and Sophia. He made his sister into his experiments, " Amnon spoke.

" What?! " Marie gasped as her eyes became watery. Nirvana and Pierre comforted her. " No, it can't be! "

Glenda turned to the other three and gestured to go somewhere else quiet. They headed into the kitchen where Marie was sobbing. Then, she and Emie rejoined with her husband and brother-in-law as they headed into living room before going upstairs.

" Can I talk to you guys, privately? " she asked.

“ What is it? ” Ivo curiously asked.

" My husband has been so troubled when he started to recall that incident in Odyssea Academy several years ago, " Glenda answered in concern. " Now, this is really concerning. Sophia and Neil have been kidnapped. Then, who's next? I'm so worried that Blue Knight's true identity will be revealed if that madman knows. Our family will be in great danger anytime soon. "

" He already knows, Glen..." Amnon heavily sighed and sadly bowed, angrily clenched his fists. " It's really meant to be a secret, just like my late father kept it. I should have never...."

“ You shouldn’t think like that. If you do Kasius has already won. Don’t give him the satisfaction, ” Ivo said to his brother.

" Unless, someone influences him..." Amnon theorised.

" Who? Damocles? Polyphemus? Charybdis? Xiven? " Glenda replied curiously as Emie was listening at her parents and uncle's conversation.

" They may be one of them, Glen. "

“ If Tucker is being influenced by one of the Umbral gods. There no way to find which one specifically he being controlled? ” Ivo asked.

" Remember of a bad joke I made for Damocles? " Amnon asked.

Ja. ” Ivo nodded at Amnon.

" That trip in Robania, I was alone in the forests. Someone called me back then. It turned out to be Damocles who injected me a strange antibody serum which it happened to be a branding. He wanted me to become an agent of his as he would grant me some powers. It turned out that I had lied with my friends and ended up dying from it, " Amnon recalled.  " Tucker had become influenced, but I was thinking of some Umbral god back in Castle Avtomat in Akrovia. My old friends and I encountered him from a mission. Xiven, the Umbral Lord of Forbidden Knowledge. The mad god can read minds and even knows our secrets. "

" Do you think Kasius would have been influenced as well? " Glenda asked.

“ Do you think Tucker has been Umbral branded as well? ” Ivo asked his brother.

" I believe so, but he never told us how and why. "

" I really need to take his blood sample myself, but not as the Blue Knight, " Amnon replied.

" Make sure to be careful, Amnon, " his wife reminded. " I can't afford to lose you anymore. You have been out for around 8 to 9 months, only to find out of your dangerous exploits. "

" Glen, I'll try to outsmart him, " he smiled intently. " I'll make him think the Blue Knight and I are two different people. "

“ Do you think your plan will work? ” Ivo asked with concern.

" Unless, if you have another idea, mon frère. "

“ Tucker is too smart. He’ll see right through your plan. But maybe we could use his family to break Xiven’s influence on him, ” Ivo suggested.

" Remember that song which Sinara sang before? " Glenda suggested. " Perhaps, I'll try to join with you guys and sing it to break him. With that, I'm not letting Amnon transform as the Blue Knight, so he could focus in taking a blood sample. "

" Merci. Spasibo, Glen. " Amnon sighed in relief and smiled sincerely at his wife.

" Dè rien," she nodded and smiled back at her spouse. " I know we're still complying with the Hippokratic oath of 'doing no harm.' So, that's the only way for the Blue Knight of not showing up. Now, what do you guys think? "

“ This is a good idea, ” Ivo said to Glenda with agreement.

" But the question is how and where are we going to meet him? "

" Place Loggen, " Amnon instantly answered.

“ Some of our friends should be there, in case if the plan doesn’t work,” Ivo suggested.

" I'm thinking of another way around,  " Amnon replied.

" Letting yourself being exposed transforming as the Blue Knight?! " Glenda anxiously raised her voice.

" If this is needed just in case, I know it's too risky. "

" Amnon...I might have a second opinion on this, but I don't want to let it happen. "

" Glen, what if Tucker will harm you while we're doing this procedure. I don't want to lose you either. "

“ Precaution needs to be taken, Glenda. We just want everyone to be safe.” Ivo said to his sister-in-law.

Glenda looked at her daughter, husband, and brother-in-law and relentedly sighed, " Right, let's see how we can go from there. I know our safety is very challenging. It takes a lot of compromises and changes. "

“ Ja, "  Ivo nodded at Glenda. “We’ll get through as well as a family.”

" Glen, we're on this together, " Amnon hugged his wife and daughter.

" I know, thank you guys. "

[Place Loggen, 4th of After Witching, Year 427, 8:08 PM]

Doctors Amnon and Glenda Montmartre walked around by themselves in thick winter coats. Ivo and the others were in their disguises and waited for the signal coming from the physician spouses. The madman was standing and waiting around the alley. He intently looked at the man and woman from a distance. Her husband tightly held her hand as she nodded.

" Kasius, remember us? " a calm contra-alto female voice echoed into his ears.

“ Glenda, ” Kasius turn around to face his old friend. “It’s been a long time. Is Amnon with you?”

" Yes, It's just us. The Blue Knight isn't around, " she calmly spoke.

" We need to talk, Tucker, " Amnon sternly added.

“ Don’t try to fool me! ” Kasius angrily said as he walked closer to the couple. “ You’re the Blue Knight. We already talked on the phone. Now you want to waste my time? Is this your grand plan, Defeating me with words?! "

" We told you. He's not here, " Amnon calmly spoke and turned around. " Nyet, I don't see him. Besides, does the Blue Knight know how to communicate both in Luski and Franken like me? I don't think so. "

" Well, it's just we have decided to civilizedly confront you, " Glenda replied. " Please, Kasius. My husband and I are both doctors. We know that you need some help and medical attention. "

" Da. It is true. I used to be branded before and almost died. So, we need to have a look of you first, before something will harm you in the long term. It might be a prolonged terminal condition that you will regret in the future. We need to run some diagnostics on you. "

" Whether you like it or not, it's part of the procedure. "

“You think I’m sick with the Umbral branding? Kasius evilly laughed. “Didn’t we discuss this is the actual me? You’re foolish enough to think I’m the same nice person from our Academy days.”

" Just sit down, " Glenda sternly commanded. " And hold still."

The spouses wore their gloves and facemasks and exchanged glances. Amnon picked up his syringe and nodded at his wife. Glenda held her stethoscope and started listening at his heartbeat. Then, she took his respiration and asked to take inhales and exhales.

“ I’ll play along for now, " Kasius said as he inhales and exhales.

" Cheesecake, you turn, " she whispered at her husband as he nodded.

Amnon took the madman's body temperature and waited for 60 minutes. His temperature reached above 39° Celsius. Then, he took Kasius's blood pressure which it took time to measure. It happened to be 180/120. After some further physical assessments done by the physician spouses, they were successfully able to take the blood sample from Kasius.

" Now, this will take time for us to get your results, monsieur Tucker, " Amnon reminded. " Think of this as your first physical examination for free. "

" We hope to meet you soon, " Glenda added. " My husband and I have to analyze upto finalize your results as we will make our first and second opinion for your further treatment. "

“ I don’t need treatment! You wasted enough of my time! "  Kasius angrily said as he instantly stood up.

" We never wasted your time. Besides, we are just doing our job of getting you physically and mentally well. Oui? Da? " Amnon intently smiled at him and turned to his wife, giving her an implied nod.

Glenda smiled and nodded back at her husband. She casted a hypnotic spell while she was singing to him.

Doucement s'endort la terre
Dans le soir tombant
Ferme vite tes paupières
Dors petit enfant

Dors en paix près de ta mère
Fais des rêves bleus
Au matin dans la lumière
Tu t'élanceras joyeux

Sur ton lit la lune pose
Ses rayons d'argent
Quand s'apaisent gens et choses
Dors mon tout petit enfant

Mais ton père est brave et rude
C'est un vieux soldat
Fais dodo sans inquiétude
Mais ne tremble pas

A ton tour tu vas connaître
L'amitié des guerriers
Mais seulement tu devras mettre
Pied à l'étrier

L'air martial et l'âme digne
Loin tu partiras
De la main me faisant signe
Passant devant moi

Fais dodo paupières closes
Comme un vrai enfant
Sur ton lit la lune pose
Son regard apaisant...

Upon hearing such a lovely and smooth singing voice from the Elandric-Foranean pediatrician, Kasius's eyes began to water on his face. The memories with his parents and siblings had resurfaced into your subconscious mind. He instantly forgot to retaliate against the physician spouses, fell into his knees, and ended up sobbing. He suddenly started to feel emotionally vulnerable while hearing that lullaby from his late mother.

“ What have I done?! ” Kasius emotionally said as he regained his senses.

" Tucker, you're unwell..." Amnon replied with concern. " Please look at yourself..."

Glenda continued singing to return to his true senses. The Elandric-Foranean cultist clutched his head with his two hands and loudly yelled.

“ I’m trying but something always prevent me from regaining my senses! ” Kasius said as he tried to fight the Umbral influence in him.

" Who is it? " Amnon asked.

“ Get out! ” Kasius yelled when he was failing to fight the Umbral influence.

" Goodness, he could die on this one, " Glenda worryingly spoke and asked. " Do you still have the Photis's Blessing? "

Amnon immediately held a 40ml syringe of Photis's Blessing and injected at Kasius's left bicep through intramuscular method. He and Glenda uttered a prayer to the possessed man. Kasius started to fall down and became unconscious which the serum quickly reacted on the bloodstream.

The Akrovian-Foranean doctor sighed in relief along with his wife and said, " We'll put him under observation at the hospital and tell everyone what happened. "

" Got it, " Glenda nodded.

Just then, Christopher, Byleth, Ivo, Valeera, Vavrinec, Tier, and Shemlock rushed towards the two and saw the unconscious Elandric suspect lying on the ground.

" What happened? " Shemlock asked.

" We gave him a check-up and then something came up with him  " Glenda said.

" Is it something to do with the Umbrals? " Valeera asked.

" Oui, " Amnon nodded.  " We have him under control, but the Photis's Blessing just sedated him. "

" I hope he gets well soon, but this will take a long time for him to recover, " Christopher reminded and looked at the sedated one.
