special one: the past

"Fuck!" Taehyung yelled, hitting the side of the machine. "Stupid fucking shitty ass machine!"

"V, calm down!" Jangsoo yelled from the other side.

"Piss off!" Taehyung screamed back.

"Jesus fucking Christ, would you both stop cussing, there are children!" Namsoon now joined in. The other two looked at him with their eyebrows raised but Taehyung was too occupied with Pac-Man to notice.

Taehyung rolled his eyes and inserted another coin into the slot, adamant on getting his win.

"Dude, your phone's ringing," the child beside him said. The kid, probably no more than seven or eight, had been waiting for Taehyung to finish so it'd be his turn. When he began to start being impatient and whiny, Taehyung shut him up by giving him his phone to play with.

He saw the contact name to be his mom. Taehyung groaned, looking between the kid and the game. He hit the side of the machine again before taking the phone. "Here, it's all yours," he said, stepping away.

Taehyung answered his phone. "Hey, mom," he greeted, his tone going through an instant switch to hide his anger with the Pac-Man machine.

"Taehyung-ah, could you pick up Hana from tutoring? She forgot her keys at home and I'm with the twins at their school," his mom explained.

Taehyung groaned again. "But mom, I'm out. Tell her to go to one of her friend's house."

"She doesn't have a phone. Go tell her yourself. I'm busy, stop complaining. Why won't you do this for your only sister, hm?"

"What? But– Fine," Taehyung grumbled.

"Love you, Taehyungie."

"Love you too, mom," he said before hanging up.

"Love you too, mom," Minki mimicked but in a much higher pitch.

"Shut up, loser. Not my fault your mom doesn't love you," Taehyung said back.

"Ouch, dude," Minki said with a smile since everyone knew how strong his relationship with his mother really was. Taehyung just couldn't think of a better thing to say back.

"What happened, hyungs?" Minhae came in asking.

"Gotta go pick up my sister," Taehyung answered, putting back on the leather jacket he had taken off in the heat of the game.

"I'll just meet you at the campsite later."

"I'll come too. Gotta stop by the department store, my turn for marshmallows right?" Saejoon also came in and said overhearing their talk. Taehyung nodded. They both left the arcade after telling their other friends.

"Dude, have you ever thought about how babies have their own language that they just forget as they get older. Like, they could be talking shit about us but we would never know," Saejoon began.

"Bro..." Taehyung raised a brow and looked at him. "Literally all the time."

"I swear babies are all gonna us one day kill us. And it's not like we can kill them first, they're babies!"

Taehyung just nodded in agreement.

Soon enough, they reached the tutoring building. Saejoon decided to go in with Taehyung. As they walked through the corridors trying to find Hana's class room, Taehyung's shoulder bumped into someone.

"Sorry," the boy quickly said, head down.

"Watch where you're going, red," Taehyung said, his pissy mood worsening.

The shorter male scoffed, lifting his head. "I have a name. And it was your fault, why am I apologizing."

Taehyung glanced down at his name tag. Jeon Jeongguk, he read. A name he later forgot. "You–"

"V, let's just go. He's a middle schooler," Saejoon cut in.

Taehyung grimaced. "Learn to respect your elders, punk," he said before shoving the poor boy's shoulder again and walking off.

"I'm a second year, fucktards," Jeongguk muttered, which went unheard by the two. He also continued to walk, already forgetting what just took place.

Taehyung finally found the room his sister was in. She was sitting in the mostly empty room, chatting with one of her friends.

"Hana, let's go," Taehyung said, opening the door. Hana stopped laughing to look up at her brother.

She looked back at her friend. "I'll be going, Somi-ah. My butler is here," she said.

Somi nodded, looking around. "Shit, my brother left. I'll be going too then."

Somi packed up quickly and left, but Hana on the other hand took her sweet time. Taehyung bit his lip, arms crossed, and his patience became thinner and thinner.

Hana finally came to the door, chin up and arms crossed as she walked past the two boys. Taehyung's eye twitched watching her go.

"Your butler?" Taehyung unfolded his arms and went after her.

She turned on her heels, stopping the two boys abruptly and almost making them lose their balance. She raised a brow. "Did I stutter?"

Taehyung scoffed, eyes wide. He took another step closer, pinched her ear and kept it there.

"Ah!" Hana began to yell, squirming in his hold.

"Butler? I'm your butler?"

"Oppa! Op–Ah! Ah! Let go you dumbshit before I tell mom about your fight at Heonsol!"

Taehyung let go immediately. "What? How did you know?"

"Somi told me, but literally everyone and their grandma knows."

"You brat! Squeak one word about this and I'll be burying your grave myself."

"Oh yeah? You ain't all that! Scrawny twat. I'm telling mom everything!"

"Hana, I swear to god–"

"Swear to god what, hmm? You got nothing on me, Kim Taehyung!"

"You think so? I know you've been crushing on a boy two years older than you! Once I find out who it is, mom will be the first to know!"

"OPPA! I–"

Saejoon began to laugh, stopping them both out of their heated argument. Their heads snapped towards the boy, who had his mouth covered to control the laughter.

"You think this is funny?" they both yelled at the same time, only making Saejoon laugh harder.

"God, sibling fights kill me!"

Hana huffed and crossed her arms. She flipped her hair and began to walk, the two boys on her trail. "Why'd you bring him?" she asked.

"Why can't I?" Taehyung asked back, shoving his hand in his pockets.

"Aren't you scared he'll fall in love with me? Can't you act like a good brother just once?"

Taehyung and Saejoon shared a look of confusion that Hana couldn't see. Taehyung "gently" patted the back of the girl's head.

"My friends won't ever be dumb enough for that," he said.

Hana rubbed the back of her head, throwing a glare at her older brother. They spent the rest of the way back home, even in the department store, bickering about everything and anything.

Don't get their relationship wrong, the both loved each other very much. This was just their way of showing their love.

•—•—•

"Kim Taehyung," Mr. Lee greeted him, leaning back in his chair.

"Principal Lee," Taehyung said back as he entered his office. He plopped himself down on the chair in front, making sure to drag the chair out first to make the very annoying sound.

Mr. Lee sighed. "Right, take a seat," he muttered before leaning back in, putting his elbows on his desk. Taehyung slouched back, with no respect for the older man at all, but he's gotten used to it.

"What's up?"

Mr. Lee nodded, disregarding his casual speech. "So I just got off a call with the principal of Heonseol High."

Taehyung sucked in his teeth. "Yeah..." he started. "About that. It wasn't my fault, dude was hurting our school's pride! I had to stand up, Mr. Lee. You get me right?"

Mr. Lee blinked back, crossing his fingers together. "Right. Anyways, you're lucky the principal is a dear friend of mine and the student didn't press charges. But Taehyung, this cannot go on."

"Yeah yeah, I won't ever do I again," Taehyung said the same words he'd told the man before with a sly smile.

Mr. Lee opened his mouth to scold him some more but his eye caught something out his window to the teacher's office. He picked up his landline and dialled a number quickly.

"Ms. Yang, would you please send Kim Namjoon to my office?"

Taehyung lifted a brow, his eyes following the principal's gaze. He saw Namjoon, their class president giving what seemed to be all the collected homework to their teacher. Ms. Yang said something to Namjoon, most likely transferring Mr. Lee's request, making Namjoon look up at the office. He nodded to the woman, gave her a bow, then made way to Mr. Lee's office.

He entered the room and stood at the door. "Principal Lee," he greeted with a bow. Mr. Lee called him over with a wave of his hand and showed him to the seat beside Taehyung.

Taehyung, still slouched back and arms crossed, put a leg over and place his foot on his thigh, giving a light shake. Namjoon looked at his crossed legs for a bit long before looking at Taehyung and taking his seat. Taehyung just stared back, which looked more like a glare.

"You two are in the same class no? Still, introduce each other," Mr. Lee said with a wide smile.

Namjoon looked at Taehyung, not to pleased to be in the same room as him, but he still followed Mr. Lee's words. "Kim Namjoon, class president. We haven't really spoken before, it's nice to officially meet you."

Taehyung just nodded in return, and the corners of his lips curved upwards as he saw the slightest of twitch in Namjoon's expression.

Mr. Lee cleared his throat, getting Taehyung's attention. He gave a firm nod, telling him it was his turn, but Taehyung just pretended as if he didn't understand. Mr. Lee just sighed and introduced the boy for him.

"Namjoon will be your tutor from now on. Lunch and an hour after school. If you're not there, I'll be calling your parents for real this time," Mr. Lee said, and it was a little surprising because it sounded like he cared for his student for once, but they quickly realized it was because their average was probably decreasing.

"What?" the two boys yelled at the same time, nearly jumping out of their seats.

"No only is you attitude plummeting, but–" Mr. Lee paused to grab a folder from the side of his desk and threw it in front of Taehyung. "–so are your grades."

"I'm still passing–"

"Barely. Don't you have plans to go to university or college?"

Taehyung crossed his arms and pursed his lips, slouching back again. "I don't care."

"Well your parents do," Mr. Lee forced. "That will be all Taehyung, tutor sessions will start tomorrow. You may leave."

"But Principal Lee–" Taehyung was cut off as Mr. Lee looked at the phone, threatening him with his parents once again.

Taehyung groaned. He pushed out the chair and left the office, not bothering to properly bow to his principal or even push in his chair. Namjoon scowled.

"Mr. Lee, I really don't think this is a good idea," he started.

"Ms. Yang told me you were looking for extra-curriculars to add onto you application, and I can make this a... tutor club or something. It'll look great on paper. Plus, you can reference me any time and you'll get that principal referral," the man pushed. He listed about everything that came to his mind.

"But you were already going to," Namjoon mumbled. "Not to be rude sir but I don't think Taehyung will listen to me. And his grades seem to be just fine."

Mr. Lee shook his head. "This isn't all about the grades, I was hoping you could have some influence on him. You're a stellar student, Namjoon, I'm hoping for some of that to rub off on him. He not all that of a bad kid, he's pretty sweet actually. Just think of this as- um– as community work! And trust me, he will listen. I've got his biggest weakness."

Namjoon sighed. He knew there was no way to twist himself out of this. Principal Lee seemed very adamant on it. Well, he did want as much as he could get for his application, he thought. In the end, he agreed.

•—•—•

"Where do you think you're going?" Namjoon asked, blocking Taehyung and his friends' exit from the classroom.

"Somewhere a prissy like you shouldn't go," Minki said, laughing at his own comeback. He was the only one.

Taehyung rolled his eyes. He looked back at his friends with a scowl. "I have something to do. You guys go on ahead without me."

His friends gave him a questioning look before shrugging and going on with their ways. Taehyung shoved his hand into his pocket and looked at Namjoon.

"Would you tattle tale if I didn't do this shit?" Taehyung asked in a mocking manner.

Namjoon crossed his arms and leaned against the door frame. "Listen, I don't want to do this either, but I gave the principal my word. If I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it right. So yes, I will tattle tale on you," he replied.

Taehyung looked at him, trying to read him, but he couldn't tell if the boy had any hidden intentions in this other than getting a boost in his application. He dropped his hands out of his pocket and hit his thighs.

"Okay! Let's just get this over with," Taehyung said with scowl.

•—•—•

"You know... 'x' equals negative 'b', plus or minus the root of 'b'-squared minus 4 'a' 'c' all over two 'a'," Namjoon repeated for another time. Taehyung stared back at him who had his brows raised and the same confusion as the first time Namjoon read it out.

"What? How does one even forget such an important– what?? Taehyung, do you even pay attention in class?" Namjoon began to scream in frustration.

"Bro, I thought 'a' squared plus 'b' squared equals 'c' squared," Taehyung said, monotone.

"What? Yes but– that's the Pythagorean theorem! We learned that in middle school! Are you telling me I have to start from there??"

Taehyung shrugged again. "Not my fault they changed the formula without telling me."

Namjoon wanted to rip his hair out. He felt grateful that lunch hour finally ended, but began to dread as the time kept moving since he'd have to continue right after school.

•—•—•

It's been a week and a half. Taehyung still infuriates Namjoon but the boy is beginning to get used to it. It was also a Friday so both were eager to finish their after school session, which was for English that day, and just go home.

"So I know it says it's 'i' before 'e' except after 'c', but there are exception to that like–"

"Hey, Joonie! And um, Taehyung– or V," a voice cut him off. The boy's heads turned from the exercice book to the smiling boy in front of them.

"Oh, h-hey, Jimin-ah," Namjoon replied with a wave. "What're you doing here?"

Jimin waved the book in his hand. "Just came for a book."

He offered Taehyung a smile, but the boy just ignored and looked away. Jimin bobbed his head and turned back to Namjoon. "Well, I'll let you too work. You got this!" the boy said, making a little fist and showing it to them in encouragement before scurrying off.

Namjoon let out the breath he didn't know he was holding and Taehyung glanced at him with knotted brows.

"You owe him money or something?" he asked, watching how riled up Namjoon had gotten.

"Huh? No. Shut up."

Taehyung didn't know what to say back to that but Namjoon looked away, not really wanting Taehyung to speak at the moment. Taehyung followed his eyes to see the same boy checking out his book, still with a smile.

"Shorty," Taehyung muttered under his breath, thinking about how he'd probably be barfing every two seconds if he was to hang out with someone as cheerful as him.

•—•—•

"There you are," Taehyung heard a voice say. He turned his neck to look at the owner of the voice walking from the door and towards him.

Taehyung looked back at the view of the field. "Give me a break today, please."

"You're going to fall," Namjoon said and climbed onto the top of the flat roof of the shed/storage room on their school's rooftop. He didn't have intention of dangling his feet off like Taehyung, but he took a seat beside him.

"Great."

Namjoon rolled his eyes. He then noticed what rested between Taehyung's finger. Namjoon grabbed the unlit cigarette out his hand, crushed it in his palm and threw it off the shed to the pile of the already burnt up one.

"Hey! What the fuck?"

Namjoon gave a look to Taehyung with a brow raised and Taehyung just glared back, shut up, and went back to looking at the fields where the art club was marking the grass for some special school anniversary event. Namjoon smiled and pressed one of the two drinks in his hand on Taehyung's shoulder. The boy looked back as he felt the object against his skin and took it.

"Have this instead. It's much better for you."

"Thanks," Taehyung said, opening the can of juice.

"What's wrong?" Namjoon asked, taking a sip from his own drink.

"Dude, you don't gotta do this."

"Dude, I know. What's wrong?"

Taehyung dipped his back to look at the sky, his eyes immediately squinting from the direct contact with the sun. He brought the hand with the drink to cover his eyes as the other kept him balanced.

"You really wanna know?"

"No, not really."

Taehyung smiled, a laugh nearly leaving his lips. "I don't know, I've just been feeling off these past days. Thinking about the future, I guess."

"The future can seem scary," Namjoon replied with a nod. "But why are you thinking about something you've literally been throwing in the trash?"

Taehyung dropped the arms holding him up and laid flat on his back, setting the drink to the side and bringing his hand back to block the sun from his eyes.

"Exactly. I've been throwing it in the trash."

"Mm, so the boy who never follows rules is beginning to come to his senses, huh?"

Taehyung scoffed. "Oh shut up. Aren't you supposed to be helping?"

"Do you want me to?"

Taehyung didn't answer that.

"So," Namjoon continued. "What do you want for your future?"

"I don't know. Something, I guess. I want a job that I won't hate, something that'll feel fulfilling, something that won't put my parents to shame. Just... something."

Namjoon set his drink down too. He copied the boy and laid down on his back.

"What about college?" Namjoon asked.

"I want to go. I do. I know it might seem like I don't care, but I do. I'm trying my best."

"You can try harder."

Taehyung lifted his head but he could only see the other's legs as he was laying perpendicular to him.

"What do you want for the future?" Taehyung asked now.

"I don't know."

Taehyung lifted his body up and twisted so that he could look at Namjoon. Feeling the shadow cast over him, Namjoon opened his eyes.

"What?" Namjoon questioned at the wide eyed boy.

"What do you mean you don't know?"

Namjoon also lifted his back up. The boy seemed genuinely confused. His mouth hanged open and eyes searched for any sign that Namjoon was joking.

"I mean that, I don't know what I want to do. I was thinking medicine, but I'm not sure. I'll figure it out."

"B-But you're Kim Namjoon, class president, first place. You know everything!"

Namjoon covered his mouth and chuckled. "Must I? That's not fair."

"But, you seem like the type to have everything planned."

Namjoon shook his head softly. "Not everything that happens will be planned, Taehyung-ah. You still have time to make the best of your future, but that all depends on how you treat your present from now on."

Taehyung didn't know what to say. He actually instead became flustered. Namjoon's voiced sounded so caring and he just wasn't used to that. He was the oldest of his siblings and he never asked his father for advice and would change the subject if he ever tried. He felt like he knew what it would've felt like if he had an older brother.

"Why do you keep looking at the art club?" Namjoon asked all of a sudden.

"It just looks fun."

"Hm," Namjoon hummed back, an idea spurring in his mind that involved signing Taehyung up for the club without Taehyung's knowledge and just shoving him into the meetings.

•—•—•

"I hate you!" Taehyung yelled, hitting Namjoon's shoulder.

"Oh you don't!" Namjoon yelled back, laughing along with the boy.

"Shut up, I do not like Jennie! We're just classmates with benefits," Taehyung explained.

"Mhm," Namjoon stretched, finishing the last of his marking for Taehyung's practice test.

"Well, on a better note, you got four fifths of your test right," Namjoon said, closing the papers so that it was the front first.

Taehyung sprang up from the window he was leaning against to rush to Namjoon's desk. "No way!" he exclaimed with a wide smile, grabbing the papers and flipping through them.

Namjoon stretched his hand forward and cracked his fingers. "You're welcome."

"Holy shit, ah!" Taehyung yelled in excitement. Without thinking about it twice, Taehyung leaned down and attacked Namjoon in a back hug in his seat.

"Woah woah woah," Namjoon sounded, startled and also because he was basically being choked, but he quickly began to laugh and lean back into the hug.

"Hey Joon," an unfamiliar voice to Taehyung said. Taehyung stopped squealing and looked up. He slowly freed Namjoon from his hug and stood up straight, staring back at the boy in front of them.

"Hey, Yoongi. What's up?" Namjoon asked with a smile.

Yoongi glanced at Taehyung who looked at him with a curious gaze. His eyes met with Namjoon's again.

"Are free after school? The guys wanted to go bowling. Their words, not mine, okay? 'We miss you Namjoon-ah!'" Yoongi said.

"Mhm, totally not their words. But I can't. Taehyung and I have a tutoring session," Namjoon replied.

Yoongi nodded with his lips pursed that looked more like an adorable pout. His attention went back to Taehyung at the mention of his name.

Taehyung would never admit to it, but he felt slightly intimidated by the shorter boy.

"It's fine, we can skip one day," Taehyung said with a shrug.

"Really?" Namjoon asked, looking up to Taehyung. "Then do you want to join us for bowling?"

Taehyung brows shot up. "Me? Haha, you're so funny."

"I'm serious."

"I don't think I should."

"Oh c'mon! You're mark went up but ten percent thus far, come celebrate with me," Namjoon tried to persuade.

Taehyung pressed his lips into a thin line and looked at Yoongi who was just watching the scene in front of him. Namjoon quickly noticed.

"Taehyung should come right?" he asked Yoongi.

Yoongi looked at Taehyung, and Taehyung had never more wanted to curl into a ball. Then when he cracked a smile, Taehyung finally loosened up.

"Of course. It'll be fun, I promise," Yoongi said to Taehyung.

Taehyung was honestly surprised. He knew none of his friends would've ever let someone who wouldn't fit into their group ever hang out with them without making rude remarks. And here, here Taehyung was welcomed so easily.

"Yeah... yeah, I'll come."

•—•—•

Minki threw an arm over Taehyung as they met up in the parking lot.

"Bro, it feels like we haven't seen you in ages!" Saejoon said, giving a fist bump to Taehyung.

"How about we go for a car run tonight?" Namsoon asked with an excited laugh.

Taehyung shook his head. "I can't tonight."

Minki knotted his brows. "What? Dude just skip the tutoring thing."

Taehyung contemplated on if he should tell them the truth or not. In the end, he decided that he had no reason to hide anything. He's always been very honest and open, so why change that aspect now?

"I'm going bowling with Namjoon and his friends," he dropped the plan very casually, although he knew the reaction to this from his friends will be far from casual.

As expected, Minki's hand dropped from Taehyung's shoulder. The boys all looked at him, hoping it was some kind of joke.

"What?" Taehyung questioned, walking over to lean against the railing.

"What do you mean 'what'? What the hell is happening? Did you know you've been all– all soft recently? You don't come out with us unless it's to the roast some marshmallows or the arcade. Spray painting was your favourite!"

"We could brush over that fact that you don't know how to have fun anymore, but now you're ditching us too? What happened to you? What happened to living on the wild side? Fuck the rules?"

Taehyung took in a breath. "How is wrecking people's cars, smoking random shit, cheating, skipping, drinking, fucking around with random chicks, stealing, getting in constant trouble and throwing our lives into fucking trash fun?"

Saejoon scoffed and crossed his arms. "Excuse me?"

"Listen, I'm not going to pretend like I didn't do any of those things, but just thinking back to it now makes me embarrassed, guilty. It just... just makes me cringe."

"You've gone insane," Namsoon said.

"V-hyung, why are you saying all those things?" the youngest finally spoke.

Taehyung looked at Minhae. "Because I don't want us to keep acting like this, anymore. Let's stop it, guys. We can change–"

"Shut up," Jangsoo cut him off. He shook his head. "Come talk to us when you get your senses back. Let's go."

Taehyung opened his mouth to speak, but the boys followed Jangsoo's lead back inside the school. He even looked at Minhae, who gave him his sad eyes before also walking away.

Taehyung, all alone in the parking lot, let out a sigh. He thought this would blow up in a matter of days, that the boys would understand what Taehyung was trying to say, give him another chance to explain. Boy was he wrong.

•—•—•

Taehyung was nervous for the first time in a while when he first met Namjoon's friends. He'd always been confident and outgoing, but for some reason he felt like he really needed to impress these four new strangers more than ever. His already made bad reputation didn't help.

At first, the boys were skeptical of Taehyung, but as time went along and Taehyung really let himself be, well, himself, the boys got to understand why Namjoon seemed to be enjoying the company of the boy with the worst name and title at school

Yoongi started it first by making sure Taehyung was included in all their conversation and praised him for or even laughed at his bowling skill.  The other three eventually found themselves treating Taehyung as if they had known him forever. Taehyung really had a way with people when he wanted others to actually get to know him.

"So you forgot the quadratic formula?" Jin asked, his tone sounding so menacing.

The boys were all now seated at the restaurant in the bowling alley, eating burgers and what not. Taehyung was still trying to fit in. Everyone was so pumped during the game but now that they were all seated, it became a little tense.

Taehyung's eyes widened. He looked at Namjoon with his brows raised. "Jin!" Namjoon hissed.

Jin shushed the boy and turned back to Taehyung. He raised a hand and made a fist, going towards Taehyung. The boy looked at the fist, a little confused, and hesitantly bumped it with his own back.

"See, y'all thought I was insane for forgetting it. Glad to know I'm not the only one," Jin said

Taehyung felt like he could finally breathe and gave a sheepish smile. "No clue what it was until Namjoon taught it to me."

"I know right? Namjoon is great like that. Sometime's I don't understand what the teacher says but when Namjoon explains it, everything suddenly makes sense," Jimin added, throwing a smile over Namjoon's way.

"Oh shut up star student," Namjoon said back. Namjoon really didn't know why someone as smart as Jimin always came to him asking for help and plus, they weren't even in the same classes too.

"Anyways, Taehyung," Hoseok began. Taehyung's head immediately snapped towards him, giving him his undivided attention.

"Yes?"

"Any interest in dance? You should try out for dance club next year. Captain said we need some visuals. We are currently at zero for that," Hoseok continued.

"Let me–" Jin began.

"No," Hoseok immediately cut him off. "We gave you your chance and you managed to fuck it up by starting to laugh like a maniac in the middle of a dance in front of the school. Anyways, Taehyung?"

Taehyung shook his head lightly. "Not really. Why don't you try out?"

"I'm already in it," Hoseok said, taking a sip of his soda.

"Then why are visuals zero," Taehyung muttered to himself, taking a moment to genuinely think about it while he took another bit of his food. Even though it was a low mutter, everyone was able to hear him. Hoseok snorted his drink out. He began to cough and hit his chest, making everyone reach for papers to offer to him.

Hoseok wiped his nose and began to laugh loudly. He pointed at Taehyung. "This one," he said, laughing some more.

Namjoon looked at his friend with a grin, knowing this was just Hoseok becoming flustered. He then turned to Jimin. "You should try out, you got the skills and the looks!

Jimin just replied with a shy smile, his cheeks becoming a pretty rose that went unnoticed by everyone as he shifted his head down.

"How come you always cause so much trouble at school? You're a literal fluff ball," Yoongi suddenly said.

Taehyung didn't know how to answer that. "M'not," the boy muttered with a pout.

"Aww," all five of them cooed at the same time.

"We're adopting him," Yoongi declared.

"Yoongi, that's now how shit works. You can't just have everything you want," Jin said. "Taehyung, would you like to be Yoongi's and ours adoptive son?"

"Umm, sure?"

Namjoon groaned. "Y'all are so embarrassing," he said, covering his face with his hand, making everyone laugh.

By the end of the night, Taehyung felt like he fit right in. The boys had even told him he's welcome to hang out with them any time, including lunch.

Taehyung definitely took up that offer as his own friends were giving him the cold shoulder. Whenever he tried to talk to them, they'd give him a glare or a sad look and walk away. Over time, Taehyung slowly began to lose hope that any of his friends would realize why he did what he did.

He did miss them, but his five new best friends were just as great. Taehyung didn't know how he got so lucky to have such warm hearts in his life. He was glad he left V behind and began a new chapter in his life as just Taehyung.
