five: just dance
"Was that the last person?" Hoseok asked Jimin, as they looked through the files.
"Well, there's still Jeon Jeongguk, but we all know it was just Tae's silly joke."
"What? No!" Taehyung cut in. He had be auditing the tryouts for fun, as well as being on the look out for the younger, hoping would show up. "He wants to dance, I know it! Here, let me just call him."
Hoseok sighed. "Fine, but we're only waiting 15 more minutes."
Taehyung quickly fished out his phone, finding Jeongguk in contacts. It rung a couple times before the younger finally answered.
"Who's this?"
"Hello, it's me! Your number one pal."
"What the hell? Taehyung? How'd you get my number?"
Taehyung forced out an evil laugh. "I have my ways, anyways that's not the point. Why aren't you here?"
"Where?"
"Here."
"How am I supposed to know where 'here' is when I'm not there you idiot?"
"Oh right. Why aren't you at tryouts?"
"For what?"
"Umm, dance, remember?" Taehyung groaned quite loudly, not surprised Jeongguk completely forgot about it.
"You've got to be kidding me. I think you should know by now that I was never gonna show up."
"But I thought you were into dance!"
"I never said that."
"Okay, listen here boy. I'll give you one last chance and you better be in the auditorium in five minutes, or else—"
"Or else what? You're gonna beat me to pulp? I'd like to see you try, Softie."
"No, I'm going to leak your the pictures of you picking your nose."
"I don't pick my nose, the fuck?"
"Yeah, but I got this really good friend who does photoshop, and I'm sure she could do far worse that just picking your nose."
"Why am I still talking to you?"
"Be here in five minutes, it's your last chance to—"
Jeongguk hung up the line before Taehyung could finish. Now all boy could do is pray the younger actually shows up.
Nearly twenty minutes has passed, but still no sign of Jeongguk.
"I know you're serious about me dying my hair rainbow and all, but Tae, we're hungry and that kid doesn't seem to be showing up," Jimin began, getting agreeing looks from the other executive members.
"Who you calling a kid, shorty?" a new voice suddenly came from the entrance. They all turned to see Jeongguk standing there— and per usual, as cool as ever.
"Holy shit, what took you so long, you shithead," Taehyung began cursing. He ran over the younger, and dragged him down to the stage, then left to join Hoseok and Jimin, who were still shocked.
Jeongguk gave them a look of annoyance. "What, you're just gonna make me stand here?"
"Umm, sorry, right. So we'll just ask you a few questions, then we'd like to see you do a quick freestyle dance," Jihyun, another dance club member, explained. He was quite proud of himself for not stuttering in front of the reincarnation of the devil.
Jeongguk gave them a look that read 'proceed'.
"Why'd you want to join the dance club?"
"'Cause I was blackmailed to."
"Umm, okay. Have you taken lesson, if so, how long."
"None."
"That's alright. And last question, why do you like about dance? How does it make you feel?"
"That was two questions."
Hoseok was getting tired of Jeongguk's answers, but did his best to control himself.
"Okay, that answers enough. Now, we'll just give you a random beat, and you can do whatever kind of dance style you're comfortable with."
Hoseok signalled to one of the tech crew members to start. As the beat began, Jeongguk didn't really have an idea of dancing at all. He then noticed one of the members 'secretly' recording, probably to upload it on his SNS claiming the boy has stage fright and laugh. Well Jeongguk certainly wasn't going to allow that to happen, he's not going to be the laughing stock for the rest of the school to enjoy.
If there was one thing Jeongguk was confident about, it would be dance (and his good looks). He began moving along to the beat, surprising everyone. Soon, he began showing off every show-stopping move he knew, but still keeping it simple to not seem like he's trying so hard. At this point, everyone's jaw was hanging on the ground. Once the short beat ended, nobody could even move a muscle, but Taehyung was quick to start clapping.
The red-head quickly wipes off the beads of sweat that formed around his face. "Was that enough? Can I leave now?" Jeongguk said, panting ever so lightly.
"Uh, y-yeah," Hoseok forced out.
Jeongguk picked up his jacket that he had thrown to the side, and left the auditorium.
"Jesus fucking Christ, did you see that?" Taehyung exclaimed. "Now I don't know much about dance but from the times I've seen you guys perform, what Jeongguk just did there was mind-blowing. He's definitely in, right?"
Hoseok nodded. "He sure has some talent, but that attitude of his is something we can't really deal with."
"Oh leave that to me," Taehyung assured everyone.
"We'll discuss about this," Jimin said as he stared at Taehyung who didn't seem to get his message. "As in members only."
"Oh! But I'm basically your manager! Okay, fine, I need to go tease Jeongguk anyways, I'll see you in a bit," the boy said and ran off in the direction the red-head went in.
As he jogged, he was able to spot the younger quickly in the empty hallways as he left the building into the parking lot.
"Jeon J—" Taehyung began, but stopped as soon as he saw Jeongguk retrieve a pack of what seemed like cigarettes. Once he got closer, his suspicion was right as he saw the younger lighting it up. Before Jeongguk could take a puff in, Taehyung quickly grabbed it and placed it in his mouth.
"What the hell?" Jeongguk screamed, looking at Taehyung. The older held it in a way that seemed like he had a lot of experience with it. It was so elegant for just holding a cigarette. Taehyung took in a big puff, then breathed it out beautifully. If Jeongguk had taken one that big in, he surely would've been on his death bed. Once Taehyung had completely left the gray smoke out of his lungs, he dropped the cigarette and crushed it with his shoe. "Wah, it's been a while."
Jeongguk sighed as he reached back to his pack. "That was the last one, you dimwit."
"Exactly, this should be the last one you ever touch, y'hear me?"
"What are you, my dad?"
"Shut up, transfer student. These things are deadly, I'm doing you a favour."
"By what, being a hypocrite?"
"It would be a complete waste if I just crushed. It's been a while, it kinda felt nice, but also sickening to know I'm killing myself. Don't kill yourself."
Jeongguk just rolled his eyes. "Why do you care anyways?" he mumbled, leaning against the railing.
"Hmm?" Taehyung couldn't quite hear what the younger said over the sound of the wind howling. He leaned against the railing as well, in case Jeongguk would be quiet again.
"Nothing."
"There's no camera here, is there?" the older asked, looking around.
"Nope, safest place around school, but it doesn't matter if Principal Loser caught us, he'll only call home for the millionth time now, and my parents are probably too busy to pick that up."
Taehyung laughed. "He's not that bad once you start talking random shit with him. I spent a lot of my time with Principal Lee in his office last year."
"Why didn't you just not go?"
"He became relatable after a couple visits, also fun to tease."
The red-head nodded, although he still had no idea of ever being to kind to the principal.
"You're a really good dancer," Taehyung began. Once he noticed the younger remained silent, he continued. "I've seen Hobi and Chim dance. If you three were a trio, honestly y'all would be unstoppable."
"Who?"
"My friends, the guys judging. Y'know, the short one and the one that radiates the energy of a thousand Suns?"
"Oh, them."
"Yup. Anyways, where'd you learn to dance like that if you didn't take classes?" Taehyung waited a couple seconds, but he didn't get a response. He decided to speak again before it got too awkward. "Alri—"
"My mom loved dance, she'd always watch videos of her favourite idols dancing. I learned from that."
"Wow! Self-taught, nice. Your mom must be proud."
Jeongguk let out a sad laugh. He became quiet. "Pft, sure. She's probably doesn't even realize she has a son who's in high school."
Taehyung knew from the change in expression in the younger's feature he should stop there and not cross any lines.
"Anyways, I'm leaving. Goodbye, cocksucker!" the red-head said, as he began to walk out of the parking lot.
"See you later, dimwit!" he said back. Taehyung decided to stay in that spot for a little longer and enjoy the fall breeze.

"Jeon Jeongguk!" Taehyung screamed in the busy hallway. People gave him weird looks as he swam through the crowd to get to Jeongguk and his friends.
"Woah, Kim, calm down," the red-head spoke, giving him an odd look. "What now?"
"You're... you... made... you made it!" Taehyung said in between pants. "You're... in the dance club!"
"You actually tried our for the dance club? I thought you said Tae was just messing," Namchoon beside them asked.
Jeongguk ignored the question and turned to the older. "Well then tell 'em I'm out. Look, you only asked me to tryout, I never agreed to join."
"Bu—" Taehyung was cut off with the bell. "We'll talk about this later. C'mon guys, let's go."
Most of the guys were in Taehyung's class, so they followed him lazily. The rest of the boys were a grade lower.
Jeongguk sighed. "He's really getting on my fucking nerves. Let's just go to class."
The boys don't usually skip class, as they know if there was one things their parents would look at is the final report. If they were to skip class, they would just bully kids until they told them the main points of the lesson and pray they get home on time to delete the automatic voicemail. Assignments were usually done with a 'little' help of others if they were feeling particularly lazy that day. Group projects were their favourite, as they didn't require to do any work. Their group members know that asking them to do something wouldn't get them anywhere. So most of the time, they were in their seats, not necessarily paying attention, but still in class.
Jeongguk's case was a little different. Even if he payed no attention, he'd learn all of it again once he returns home. He had personal tutors in the order of his father. Although he can escape from Mr. Lee, there is no way he can go against his father.
