epilogue: surprise

"Make sure to pay attention to the highlights and shadows that curves around the subject. Don't just swipe blacks and whites randomly, remember how we talked about that the previous class?" Taehyung said. A few of the students nodded, but most continued working on their painting as they were so concentrated. Taehyung circled around, giving tips or tricks to those who seemed like they needed it, helping them learn their way around oil paint.

The man smiled, proud of himself for being the one to teach the kids all the skills. His thoughts were disrupted as the room door opened breaking the silence. His head shot up, his smile not disappearing. They also managed to get the students attention.

"What brings you here again, Officer? Another killer on the loose you came to warn us about?" Taehyung questioned, grabbing a towel to wipe the paint that might've gotten in his hand.

"Actually, a student complained to me that you were a terrible teacher. Is that true?"

"Didn't know they were sending officials to deal with these kind of matters."

Jeongguk smiled, a short laugh escaping his lips. He came to the front of the class, leaving the man that had come with him at the door.

"Well class, how is Mr. Kim treating you all?"

The students looked back at him blankly. They all kept quiet. Well of course, the youngest of the bunch was an exception. The twelve year-old girl jumped out of her seat. "Which bimbo said my prince is a bad teacher?" she yelled bravely, shocking Jeongguk a little.

"Minji, language. You should be more respectful to someone who serves and protects your community," Taehyung advised, doing his best not to laugh.

The girl frowned and folded her arms. "Sorry," she mumbled.

"Your prince, y'say?"

"Yes! The prince that I'm going to marry!"

Jeongguk nodded. "Right," he stretched out. He looked around the class and the diversity of ages. There were even a couple university girl here as well giggling to each other. They must be the same girls he sees keeping Taehyung from getting home after class by bombarding him with useless questions.

"What about you girls?" he asked to one of them.

"Us? Oh yes, we completely agree with Minji."

Jeongguk flashed a fake smile. "Well, I must've received wrong information. I'll be off, then." The male went back to the door, but before leaving, he turned and gave a very innocent grin. "Nice ring, Mr. Kim."

The students all watched the door close and then their gaze quickly change to their teacher's hand. Most didn't care, but the few who had crushes on their art teacher felt dumb for never seeing it.

"Mr. Kim, you're married?" one of the university students screamed.

Taehyung smiled and scratched the back of his neck. The students had never really noticed the ring amongst the many others, as usually they were always mesmerized by his soothing voice and beautiful face. There were definitely going to be student who won't be returning next class, and all due to his jealous baby.

•—•—•

"Don't you have anything better to do, I don't know, like catching a bad guy, than coming to my class?" Taehyung asked, entering the car. He saw Jeongguk's co-worker in the back, scrolling through this phone and scoffing at the boy's comment. "And he drags me along too."

"Oh shut up, both of you. It's cause you were telling me those girls kept keeping you after classes and asking dumb questions yesterday."

"Which I never minded," Taehyung said, buckling in his seat-belt. "They bring their friends to sign up for classes, and I'm gonna lose all of them because of you."

Jeongguk rolled his eyes. He kept quiet and started the car harshly. "I can't believe you didn't bother to come early even on this day," he mumbled under his breath. Taehyung smiled, pretending not to hear. They dropped the co-worker off at his house, his vehicle was currently at the garage.

"Tae..." Jeongguk began.

"Hmm?" the older hummed back, attention on his phone, typing up a script for the presentation he was called into to do at his local high school. Taehyung was very popular nowadays.

"Nothing."

Jeongguk started up the car again and drove home. They both kept silence for the rest of the ride, the younger taking occasional glances and getting more and more angry as the time went on. Finally, they arrived to their apartment building and parked underground.

"Baby, have you seen my AirPods?" Taehyung asked, searching around the seat.

Jeongguk scoffed and got out the car. "Fuck off," he said and slammed the door shut. Taehyung watched the younger storm off with an amused smile. He began following after the boy waiting for the elevator.

"Jeonggukkie," Taehyung called out cutely, wrapping his arms around him. Jeongguk harshly shoved his hand away, making Taehyung pout. He grabbed his waist again just as the elevator doors opened, pushing him inside to the corner.

"Why's my Bun upset?"

Jeongguk stared intensely into the other's eyes, arms crossed and lips in a pout. "Do you really not know?"

Taehyung lifted a brow, the smile still dancing on his lips.

"Whatever. I hate you. Expect divorce papers soon."

"Divorce?" Taehyung echoed. On hand left Jeongguk to retrieve something from his coat pocket. Taehyung waved the black box in front of the younger, before opening it carefully. "Then I'll just ask you to marry me again."

Jeongguk looked at the shinning silver band in the box. His eyes shot back to the older grinning wide. "Happy Anniversary, baby," Taehyung whispered.

Before Jeongguk could say anything, the elevator dinged and opened to their floor. The both watched the door be open for a few moments then close again. Jeongguk reached and pressed for the highest floor and to the parking lot, then threw his arms around the older's neck. "I can't believe you pretended to have forgotten, you suck."

"How could I forgot the day you made me the happiest man alive?" Taehyung said, bringing his face close so their noses touched. He gave him a quick peck and pulled back when the elevator doors opened to the top floor. Nobody had yet come on.

Taehyung took the thin ring out of the box and placed it right above Jeongguk's wedding ring. The younger stretched out his fingers to get a better look. "I love it," he said, nuzzling his head into the Taehyung's neck.

Taehyung let out a satisfied laugh. "Where's my gift?"

"I bought you a Jeep," Jeongguk said simply, making the older push him back by the shoulder. Eyes wide, Taehyung yelled, "You what?!"

Jeongguk smiled wide, showing off his bunny-like teeth. "The one you've had your eyes on for while. The one we parked right beside."

"You're kidding!"

Jeongguk shook his head aggressively. The elevator door opened to the parking lot. He got out a pair of keys from his pocket and dangled them in front of Taehyung. "See for yourself," he said, dropping the keys in his palm. Taehyung threw him a suspicious look, before grabbing his wrist and make him run out the elevator with him to where they had parked.

The two stopped in front of a sleek black Jeep. Taehyung pressed the button to unlock the vehicle, and was shocked when the blinkers on the Jeep went of. "You actually did. Oh my god, Gguk, you weren't lying!"

"Like it?" Jeongguk asked with a sense of pride washing over him. Taehyung turned around, walked over to the boy, gave him a tight hug, picked him up and spun him around. "Like it? I love it! And I love you!"

"How about we celebrate some more in our room?" Jeongguk asked with a cheeky grin. Taehyung put him down. "As long as you keep your uniform on." Oh and how Taehyung loved Jeongguk being a cop in bed.

They originally wanted to begin the celebration in the elevator, but to their luck and elderly lady had got on. Once they reached their floor, the horny fuckers dashed to their door. Jeongguk fumbled to punch in the code and Taehyung kissing up his neck and jaw from behind wasn't helping. Once the door was finally open, Jeongguk turned around to connect their lips together for a rough makeout and walk in, doing their best not to trip.

"SURPRISE!" a bunch of voices yelled as the light were turned on, streamers flew from every corner. Taehyung and Jeongguk immediately jumped away from each other, scared out of their mind. Everyone looked at them awkwardly having caught them in such a position. Good thing they hadn't done anything more explicit.

"Say cheese!" Somi said, breaking the silence as she took a Polaroid of the two boys standing there while holding Yeontan in the other hand. Then everyone broke out into smiles and laughs.

"Happy Anniversary!" people began wishing them, and the couple thanked them all.

"Did you know about this?" Jeongguk whispered to Taehyung, who just shook his head.

"Happy Anniversary!" the youngest of the Kims came running to the two. She smiled wide while handing them both a card she made with what seemed to be macaroni and their father's holiday cards barely covered in white nail polish – it still looked wonderful though. With that, everyone began bombarding the two with their own gifts. The two collected them all and went to the main hall. Jeongguk quickly changed out of his uniform and joined the rest. Everyone found a seat and watched the couple unwrap all the gifts.

"Matching aprons and a rice cooker! Ours just broke. Thanks mom," Taehyung said, looking at the pink and white heart patterned aprons.

Jeongguk opened the next, which was from Hana. "Damn, a pair of home spa kits. Really needed this. Thank you."

"No way! Who got us a round trip to the Caribbeans?" Taehyung exclaimed. The five boys raised their hands. "We all chipped in," Namjoon explained.

The gifts continued on, and they were all amazing of course. "Last but not least," Taehyung said picking up the final bag, which was from Somi.

"Oh my god," Taehyung snickered, pulling out the small garments from the bag. Tiny gender neutral baby clothes. Jeongguk looked at them, eye wide. "Somi!"

Everyone around them began laughing along with the girl. Taehyung nudged the younger and asked, "How about it?" Jeongguk looked at his husband as if he sounded insane, but when he saw the warm smile and sparkles in his eyes, his features softened up.

"Oh, I'm getting a grandchild!" Mrs. Lee, no longer Mrs. Jeon, said while clapping and hugging her husband. Yeah, Mr. Jeon wasn't the only one who could get with their first love, and she did it legally!

Jeongguk looked back at a smirking Somi. "Thanks, Somi-ah."

"You're welcome, bro." She really kept her reputation of getting people jaw-dropping gifts. For Boram's and Chisoo's second anniversary, she got them adoption papers to officially call her their daughter.

The party continued, and although Taehyung and Jeongguk couldn't celebrate in their way – which will be saved for the night – this was definitely much better.

Namjoon and Jimin approched the couple with drinks in hand. Taehyung eyed the rings on the two's fingers that have been there forever. "So have you guys thought about actually having the wedding yet?" he asked. "I mean, you two got together before all of us, but the last to get married?"

Jimin looked at Namjoon with a smile. "July 4th. The first day we met in summer school."

"Wait seriously?" Jeongguk asked, and the two just nodded.

"I call being best man!" Yoongi yelled from across the room. The four looked at him, shocked he was able to hear from that far.

"What," Jin began yelling. "You were the best man at Hoseok and Hana's, leave bit– I mean chicken!"

"Um, your favs wouldn't be together if it weren't for me!"

Namjoon rolled his eyes, already knowing it's going to be hard to settle this fight.

"Guys, turn on the TV and go to the news channel, 238!" Somi said suddenly, getting everyone's attention and pointing at the remote. Mrs. Kim, confused, took the remote and turned on the television, changing it to the said channel.

A lady suddenly came up and began talking about stock and whatnot, and that's when on the header "Jeon Incorporation falls into bankruptcy" rolled in. After the divorce, his ex-wife's parents pulled out all financial aids, which made him lose a lot of partners. He managed to somehow keep it steady for the first couple years, but with the company weak and untrusted, Mr. Jeon's success had started to fall. Now, there was an end to it all.

Jeongguk smiled, from hearing the news and as well as the hand that took in his, giving them a tight squeeze. "Finally got what he deserved," Taehyung said under his breath. Jeongguk's gaze then went to his mom, who was smiling wide, as was everyone in the room.

"Who wants cake?" Mrs. Lee exclaimed, enthusiastic as ever. Now this was definitely worth the celebration. The couple's day couldn't get any better.

•—•—•

"Tonight was perfect," Jeongguk said, cuddling up against his husband. The party ended late but the two were definitely not going to forget their original plans.

"Yeah. I can't believe we never thought to use the handcuffs before."

"Shut up, I was talking about the party, and don't talk about your kinks during soft hours."

"Soft hours?" Taehyung asked followed by a laugh.

"Yeah, I don't really know but it was something Hana was talking about earlier or something."

The older shook his head. "That girl's going to give birth to a child soon but is still acting like a kid herself."

"Speaking of children... Were you being serious earlier?"

Taehyung pursed his lips. "Kinda. It'd be nice to have a little bundle of joy running around and calling us dad, y'know?"

Jeongguk nodded. "Yeah. Um, actually, I was hoping, if we do decide to have children, that we could adopt. Unless you–"

"I was actually looking into a couple adoption centres earlier," Taehyung said, "Somi got me a little too excited for it all." He hugged the younger more tightly. "So what'd you say?"

Jeongguk smiled wide. The day has been full of smiles. "We're going to be parents."

Taehyung nodded, breaking into giggles just at the thought of it. He's always loved raising children, and now it was going to be one of his own.  "I have a place to call home, a job I love, my cute Tannie, a husband I love even more, and soon a son or daughter. Life is great." Jeongguk placed a soft kiss on Taehyung's lips, hearing him be all mushy made him want to be mushy too. Taehyung cupped the younger's cheeks. "How did I get so lucky?"

Jeongguk laughed, closing his eyes and laying his head on the older's chest, right over where they got matching tattoos (each other's names) as a dare which they both loved very much in the end.

"Taehyung."

"Hmm?"

"I'm glad you're a part of my life. I can't wait for the newest addition."

"Me too, baby, me too. We'll be the best parents in the world."

Jeongguk began drifting off. As he was, he mumbled, "A happy family..."

"Yeah. A family," Taehyung said back, joining his husband in dreamland.
