eighteen: apologies and confessions
The whole closed doors make-outs occurred quite a lot over the span of three weeks. Yoongi thinks is absolutely absurd that they still consider themselves as friends. Taehyung is scared due to them not exchanging a single word during and after those said make outs, as if it never happened. Jeongguk is scared he won't be able to stop seeing it had now gone much longer than intended, not that he wanted this in the first place.
Taehyung didn't understand where the two stood on their relationship. They'd sneak off from their friends, squeeze themselves into whatever deserted place they can find, make out for a few minutes, then leave and pretend they were two bros who hated each other. The two have never gotten any farther than kissing. Sure, sometimes Taehyung would subconsciously trail off to his jaw or neck but the red-head would stop it all before the boy does something too intimate. The older couldn't handle the games he was playing with Jeongguk anymore, leading him call upon the only person who'd text him back, which was quite odd.
Taehyung groaned falling back on his bed. Yoongi watched with a bored expression. He remembers the older's responses being short and they all ended with periods, but Taehyung shrugged it off and was just grateful he came.
"Did you call me over to groan?" Yoongi asked in a very monotone voice.
Taehyung lifted his head hearing the difference from his usual tone. "Is something wrong?"
Yoongi shook his head, a loud sigh escaped his lips. He sat down on the bed, looking straight into the other's eyes. "Are you serious, Tae? You've literally been M.I.A. for the past few week, ditched us whenever we made plans, and now suddenly you need me?"
"Oh."
"Oh? Tae, it's not that we're even mad, we're worried. You barely talk to Jimin in class now and always on your phone. Art club Prez is pissed, why haven't you been attending meetings? Hobi's a little off too, he's always screaming about how he shouldn't have gave in Jeongguk's name if he wasn't going to show up to practices. What the hell is going on, dude?"
Taehyung couldn't meet the other's eyes as all he had said was true. He had been distant from the boys lately, more so because he was spending too much time with Jeongguk and the others. It wasn't that he preferred one or the other, he was just so focused on his plan. Who was he trying to kid, he has strayed away far from that plan and gotten distracted.
"You're not getting comfortable as V, are you?"
Taehyung instantly sat up, eyes wide as he vigorously began shaking his head. "No of course not! There's no w– Shit... am I?"
"Tae..." Yoongi calked out softly at the panicked boy. He moved closer to him so that they're shoulders touched, and he even pushed at his shoulder lightly, signalling Taehyung that he could lay on his shoulder if he wanted to, to which the younger did.
"I-I don't think I'm becoming him again, but I'm forcing myself to pretend to. Not for the plan... but for Jeongguk. It's just I suddenly become V and he is suddenly is attracted to me but not really. I just think that if I were to be V completely, maybe he'd like me back?" Taehyung rambled, his voice becoming weaker as it went on.
"Listen, you don't have to change yourself, especially if it's not for the better, for anyone. Just be yourself. Don't lie to the person you love. Okay?"
The silver-head sighed. "Yoongi, what should I do?"
"First, apologize to everyone."
"Of course."
"Then, maybe tell him how you feel. I mean, you guys have been having these insane make outs, so there has to be some feelings attached, right?"
Taehyung looked up at the other. He was looking to see if Yoongi was just saying it to make him feel better, or if he actually meant it. Yoongi's eyes screamed hope.
"You're right! I'm gonna do it!"
"That's my boy!" Yoongi smiled, hands reaching out the ruffle the other's hair. He missed him a lot, just as much as the others. They just felt so empty with the gaping hole in their group. It felt weird hanging out without even one of them, and Taehyung really balanced everyone out.
So the two walked on to Jimin's house, where Namjoon already was for, uhm, studying purposes, and the two other boys were called over. Yoongi and Taehyung arrived last, but it was better that everyone was already gathered. They were all silent as they walked in the lounge, Yoongi walking over to take seat on the couch with them while Taehyung stood in front.
Suddenly, Taehyung dropped to the ground on his knees, clapped his hands in the air, and bowed down.
"I'm sorry, please forgive me. I know I've been distant lately, and there's no excuses!" he pleaded, slightly peaking up to see their reactions. They all just stared down at him, lips in a tight line, eyes squinted. "Pretty please? I'm sorry. Like really really really sorry."
Jimin was the first to crack. He couldn't help but smile and run to the boy to give him a bone crushing hug. The rest groaned and yelled at the blond for ruining it, but eventually joined in on the ginormous group hug. Seemed like they had planned their initial reactions beforehand. Once all the hugging was done, they sat together in a circle.
"Now tell us, where the hell have you been?"
And so, Taehyung said about all the events that had occurred for him to be a confused mess and ignoring the guys temporarily.
"Tea has been spilt y'all!" Jin screamed, but his face was shoved away when Hoseok needed more space to be dramatical. "Gosh, I thought it was always gonna be bros before hoes," he said, balling his hand into a fist a tapping his chest twice, a fake sniff followed shortly. Taehyung rolled his eyes at the two but laughed along.
"We have tea of our own," Jin said quickly, eyeing the two smiling boys.
Namjoon and Jimin shyly linked their hands together and raised it up so the silver-head could see. "We're together."
"I fucking knew there was something between you two!" Taehyung jumped over to give the two another big hug. "God, I'm so happy for you guys."
"Thanks, Tae. But, it's a secret. Parents don't know."
Taehyung nodded, understanding the couple's situation. It's not like he had told his sexuality to his parents, although it been a while since he confirmed it. Now, the boys were at encouraging the silver-head to go after his lover. After much pep-talk, Taehyung finally had the courage to text the younger to meet up.
He skimmed through this contacts and found "little piece of shit". Taehyung mentally laughed at the name he felt was perfect for the younger not too long ago. He quickly went to edit and changed the name before beginning to spam.

The walk took a bit as Jimin's house wasn't as close to the boy's. He stopped by the convenience store to buy Jeongguk's favourite snacks, but soon enough, Taehyung reached their house. He buzzed it once before Somi answered and opened the gates for him. As soon as he entered, he saw the two girls giggle, but one stopped as soon as she saw who had just entered. Taehyung's jaw dropped to the ground, just as the girl's did.
"Taehyung!" the girl screamed, just as he screamed, "Hana!"
"What're you doing here?" the silver-head asked.
"C-club. BL Alli–" Somi elbowed the girl and stopped her from continuing, although Taehyung already knew what she was going to say. It all clicked into place. No wonder Somi was so persistent on having him sleepover that night.
"Homework! We're doing tutor homework! We're friends from tutoring. Wow, what I coincidence. Out of all the Taehyungs, you're our Taehyung!" Somi exclaimed, hinting something at the other girl. Hana snapped her fingers, finally getting what her friend meant, but when she did, a huge gasp left her lips. "Oh my fu–" Somi was quick to cover the girl's mouth. "My brother is upstairs! Let's go discuss about our project, Hanie." Before she dragged away his sister to another room, Somi flashed him a thumbs up as she whispered, "Love the new look."
Taehyung thanked her just as quietly before walking over to the stairs. He knew all about their so called club, or alliance. Taehyung's sister is what you call a boy love fanatic. In fact, her "dirty" secret is what even made Taehyung learn about the whole spectrum of sexualities. Hana somehow still hasn't found out about Taehyung being gay, but he also prefers it that way. He doesn't need a sister bugging him about finding the love of his life. Well, maybe not anymore. Hana had told him she found a friend that shared the same title as her, and they had a plan about their, quote unquote, Project Taegguk. Taehyung felt so dumb for not finding any connections with it. At least he has two more supporters now.
He quickly climbed up the stairs and found Jeongguk sitting cross-legged in front of his TV, very concentrated in the game. Taehyung quietly entered and closed the door. He tiptoed and sat down behind the red-head who was furiously tapping on his controller, and waited patiently. Once the game ended, Jeongguk took of his headpiece and sighed, disappointed at the lose.
Taehyung ruffled the boy's hair while resting his chin on his shoulder and said softly, "It's okay, Bun. You win some, you lose some."
"When did you get here?" Jeongguk did his best to turn his head to get a good look. "Stop calling me Bun." Jeongguk stared into Taehyung's eyes, who seemed very different today. Less intimidating in a way, like they had a millions words to say. The red-head couldn't help but lean in and give the boy a kiss. Now, Jeongguk initiating their kisses were rare, but whenever it happened, Taehyung always felt butterflies swarm in his stomach.
Taehyung pulled away from the soft kiss, different from their usual aggressive and rushed ones, when he got a message notification. Usually, he would've just ignored it, but if it was his friends, his whole apology would've meant nothing. Taehyung pulled out his phone and replied to whoever texted him, but he kept getting replies so the conversation didn't stop.
Jeongguk tried to peak at who he was texting for so long, but he couldn't get a good look. Not that he cares or anything, of course. "Who's that?"
"Jennie. She's been complaining about how Jin's not texting her back. Although I'm pretty sure he likes Irene. God, this girl needs to find a new man."
The red-head rolled his eyes. For some reason, he didn't like Jennie, not one bit. "New man as in you?" Before Taehyung could ask what he meant, the boy grabbed his phone and threw it somewhere to the side. He grabbed the back of the older's neck and guided him to his lips. Taehyung was shocked, and before he knew it, he was under Jeongguk as a victim to his kissing that was going at pace Taehyung wasn't sure he could keep up. He knew had to take control, so Taehyung began kissing back just as harshly. Tongues were in a tangled mess while teeth clashed.
Something in Jeongguk clicked as Taehyung began to get up from the ground and now began pushing him back, leading the red-head to pull-away. Jeongguk leaned over and grabbed the bag Taehyung rested beside him. "That's for the snacks." The older just ignored his words and liked to believe he kissed him just because he was feeling a little green —which he definitely was.
As usual, the two forgot about their unholy actions and proceeded to play Overwatch as if nothing happened. After a few games, the boys stopped to rest their fingers and stretch. Taehyung kept asking the younger if he wanted to go somewhere, as staying cooped up in the room was getting quite boring. The two agreed to go to the campgrounds and enjoy the warmth a nice bonfire could give them.
At their exit, Jeongguk found his dad has come back from work and took his usual seat on the couch. He couldn't leave the house without telling him where. "I'll be back in a bit, father."
Mr. Jeon's removed the reading glasses that rested at the bridge of his nose, and set it down on the table in front. "Actually, Jeongguk, we have some matters to discuss."
"Father, my friend is over." At that, Mr. Jeon took a better look a spotted the silver-head trailing behind him. Taehyung awkwardly bowed and greeted him. Jeongguk's father only nodded in response. They knew what was coming next, he'd tell Taehyung to come another time, but the sisters couldn't allow that.
"Appa! Can we interview you for our project?" Somi said, coming out of nowhere. Hana was right next to her, with a clipboard in hand. His gaze lingered on Taehyung for longer than what was necessary before it turned back to his son. He could never say no to his precious daughter. "Very well then, come back soon." The two left the house as soon as they could before Jeongguk's father changed his mind and shooed Taehyung away.
The boys ran through the still cold season to their hangout spot. Taehyung was quick to get started on the fire as he was desperate to get away from the cold. Jeongguk sat and laughed, watching the boy curse when the matches wouldn't light up. It took a few tries before Taehyung was able to let out a sigh of relief and take a seat beside Jeongguk on the wood.
"This is nice, isn't it?" Taehyung started, rubbing his hands together and scooting as close as he could to the red-head.
Jeongguk's breath hitched when he felt Taehyung shoulder against his. It's not like it's never happened before, but the atmosphere and mood the fire set was doing something to the boy. "Yeah."
"Jeongguk?"
"Hmm?"
"I kinda hate you."
The younger chuckled, turning his head to look into the other's eyes which have gone quite soft, looking as pretty as ever with the reflecting of the fire. "I kinda hate you too." The boys looked at each other for a few more seconds, before connecting their lips together. Taehyung pulled away first to say, "but I also kinda like you."

"Mhm," Jeongguk hummed, before pulling him in for another kiss, only for the contact to be lost again.
"No, Jeon, I like you. Like a lot."
The red-head froze, hoping Taehyung wasn't being serious, but the passionate look in his eyes explained enough. Jeongguk hated it, hated getting feelings involved. It ruins everything. He gulped, before opening his mouth to say something, anything to destroy the silence, but the older beat him to it.
"I want you to be my boyfriend."
Click!
Jeongguk's eyes widened. He was at lost for words, but his body reacted. He immediately got up. "What the fuck?" He didn't think twice when he spoke, he just acted on instinct. An instinct that stood in the way of all things that required trust for Jeongguk. Yeah, the boy had trust issues, especially when it came to love, but can you blame him? He's grown with the perfect example of why love is a pile of garbage, and how trust can easily be broken. Without looking , he walked away, leaving Taehyung with an unexplainable anger, and a broken heart, all alone.
