CHAPTER ONE: HALF DRAWN

BLOOD.

The smell hung in the air much like fog on any cold morning would, and somehow it was just as natural to the two girls as the moonlight that shone down on their covered shoulders.

Elana had taken the precaution of keeping Avanna beside her, the last thing she needed to worry about was the girl getting bitten. If she was as close as possible- and still within her peripheral vision- she could at least prevent the girl from being bitten.

But they had long since finished, now they were seated in the eldest sister's car who was sipping liquor that she'd purchased earlier in the day to try and numb the headache that was eating away at her head, lord knew it would only worsen when she woke up.

Avanna absently stared at the dashboard her hands still coated in the blood of the creatures they'd left dead in their wake, she was too lost in thought to have even considered cleaning her hands, which she probably should've done the second they'd finished off the nest.

Paying her sister a half glance, she offered a look of clear distaste before reaching over her seat to grab one of the many towels in the back of the car. The last thing she wanted was for her to bloody up her nice seats.

Setting the bottle of liquor in between her thighs, it only took the girl a few moments to grab her sister's hands and begin wiping them off, while she scrubbed at the girl's blood-caked skin she thought of the case as a whole.

She'd been hoping they would get some variety in creatures and yet for the last few weeks all they'd been wiping out was vampires, vampires, and more vampires.

It was starting to feel like clockwork.

"Mr. Singer lives here." Avanna stated looking up from the dash to meet her sister's stare.

Neither of them spoke for several moments before the older girl shook her head, "you mean Bobby?" she questioned letting her focus return to her sister's hands.

"Yeah, when we were doing research I saw his name in one of the archives, I should've recognized the town to begin with, but it feels like it's been forever."

Elana let out a sigh, the last thing she'd pictured doing after they solved the case was going to visit people, but for Bobby, she could make an exception.

She hadn't seen him in years, in fact, she was going on just about four years without a single word being slipped in his direction.

A twinge of guilt knicked at her heart as she finished cleaning the younger girls hands, she hadn't meant to ignore him for so long, she'd just been... busy.

And she was sure he would understand how she'd tried to prioritize the lives of many over simply sitting down to drink a beer and chat.

Handing the towel off to her sister, she jabbed a finger in the direction of the passenger window, she didn't want the thing stinking up her car, plus, by keeping it inside, they ran the risk of getting infected in the future, which wasn't something either of them wanted to have to worry about.

Avanna wasted no time in tossing the towel out into the dirt and slamming her door shut, she stared down at her hands for a few moments before timidly glancing up at her older sister.

"We should go visit him, Bobby, I mean."

Wrinkling her nose as she took another sip, Elana couldn't help but let the thought bounce around in her head for a few moments, it wasn't a bad idea, but she wasn't that interested in shaking hands that night.

She just wanted to go back to the motel and drop dead on the bed like she had so many other times.

"Please?" she watched from the corner of her eye as Avanna leaned forward with her hands intertwined and a sad smile settled upon her lips, "I'll sit out the next hunt, and I won't even argue about it."

It did seem like a good deal, and even though she knew Avanna would find some way to wriggle out of their deal, she felt the visit was long overdue.

Capping the bottle of liquor, she set it in Avanna's lap before retrieving her keys from her pocket and inserting them into the ignition.

Eagerly sitting up, the girl beside her held the bottle with both hands a large smile overtaking her features as her sister started the car and pulled out onto the road within the span of a few short moments.

It wasn't long before they arrived in front of the large darkened house with the help of the small slip of paper Avanna had torn from one of the library books. In previous years, the faint blue paint that had once brought it to life with color was more visible. Now, it seemed dank and miserable, not the slightest bit welcoming to those that sought it out.

Taking the bottle of alcohol from the younger girl, Elana took a long swig before ditching the empty thing in the area behind her seat and climbing out of the car behind her sister.

Stopping at the side of the car, both girls examined the house from the outside for several moments before determining that Bobby was indeed home.

"Do you think he'll recognize us?" Avanna questioned her strides looking more like skips as they approached the front porch, her sister couldn't help but shrug her shoulders, what did it matter? They were still going to end up introducing themselves if he didn't recognize them, and then he would.

Either way, he would know who they were.

The younger blonde was the first to reach the door, and wasted no time in carefully knocking her knuckles against the wood frame, "do you think he missed us?" Avanna questioned her voice soft against the sound of crickets and other insects roaming the environment around them.

"What do I look like to you? A damn psychic?"

Neither of them spoke for several moments, the door still sitting closed as they waited for the man of the hour to make an appearance. Looking down at her boots while her sister reached her hand up to knock again, she found herself quickly grabbing her sister's hand with a look of concern written across her features.

"I was about to knock." she grumbled trying to pull her hand free, shaking her head, Elana gestured to what she'd caught sight of moments before, "salt." the girl mumbled meeting her sister's gaze.

A few seconds of silence passed before she released her sister's hand and pulled her gun from between the waistband of her jeans, and much to her disappointment, she watched as her little sister pulled her knife from the same spot.

God, why couldn't she just carry a gun like everyone else?

At least then she'd stand a better chance when protecting herself, but, it seemed like that was the least of her worries as she stepped to the side to give her sister access to the doorknob.

It was no secret that Avanna had trouble making the first move, especially when it came to investigating.

Holding her gun in her right hand, Elana leaned forward and quietly turned the doorknob before letting it glide open, inside, all that could be seen covering every window and doorway in sight was salt.

And it wasn't spread out nice and neatly, no, it had been spread out in a hurry from the looks of it, as if there had been no time to spare.

Eyeing the entrance to the closest room, she took a few steps forward before gesturing for Avanna to follow in after her.

The two of them walked back to back checking each doorway as they approached the kitchen, they could hear glass clinking and from what she could tell, there were at least two other people aside from Bobby within the house.

Letting out a silent exhale of air, the older girl rounded the corner with her gun cocked at the head of the nearest person, her sister followed around another corner within seconds her knife pressed to the back of the one closest to her.

And god, she didn't think the two people in the kitchen could be any more different from one another.

One was tall and angular with a shaggy boyish haircut that complimented his green eyes, probably the only thing the two men had in common.

The other, had a short-cropped Ivy- League styled haircut and stubble coating his chin, unlike the other, he was slightly shorter and more muscular by the looks of it.

"Where's Bo-" Elana began her question interrupted by the sound of three beer bottles clinking against each other in the doorway to the left of the kitchen, both girls turned to look for the source of the sound their eyes landing on the older man who was watching them with a questioning look of sorts.

"Avanna?" he questioned taking a few steps forward to set the bottles of alcohol down on the flat surface.

"You know these chicks?" the shorter one spoke his voice tight as he thought of the gun pointed at him.

Ignoring the question, Bobby watched as the girl let her hand fall slack at her side before rushing across the tile to wrap her arms around him.

Hugging her back for a few moments, he frowned at Elana- who still had her gun pointed at the boy's head- before he pulled away from the girl and crossed his arms over his chest.

"I'd appreciate it if you lowered the gun, Elana."

The girl almost froze at the mention of her name, mostly because the suggestion wasn't a suggestion but rather an order. She could tell by the tone of his voice.

Silently lowering the weapon, she returned it to the waistband of her pants and moved away from the set of boys so she was closer to her sister and Bobby.

"Boys, meet the Evans sisters."

"Girls, meet the Winchester boys."

Elana let out a chuckle as she eyed the two boys, "so you must be Samuel." she grinned pointing towards the lankier of the two.

He gave a hesitant nod the locks of his boyish haircut swaying with the sudden movement, "it's Sam." he corrected.

"Right on Samuel." she spoke already eyeing Dean, "and you must be the older one, I'm a bit disappointed, I thought you'd be taller."

"Yeah, and I thought you'd be smarter, but, here we are." he spoke crossing his arms over his chest as he glared at her.

"So, what brings you two into town?" Bobby questioned picking up the beer bottles from the table before offering one to Avanna, as per usual, she politely declined.

As for Elana, the second he offered her the drink she popped the cap and began to drink as if she hadn't already downed a bottle of liquor out in the car.

He offered the other two beers to the boys, both of which took one and popped them open before taking a long sip.

"Um actually, a vampire's nest, we wiped them out all but an hour ago."

Both the boys exchanged a look before Sam let his gaze fall on Avanna, "was it by chance at the Mason's farm?"

She furrowed her brows for a moment before nodding her head.

Dean let out a sigh holding his beer away from his as he closed his eyes and tried to remain calm.

The two had taken their case.

The case they'd been working on for the past three days.

And yet, they'd just swooped in and taken it like it was nothing.

"They took our damn case." Dean muttered taking a long swig of his beer, Sam met the younger of the two sisters' gaze and offered her a small shrug, "it doesn't matter, they're gone either way."

Dean cleared his throat casting his brother a glare, "it does matter, that was our case."
