Chapter Twenty Four

~Inari's POV~

I spent the majority of the day in and out of consciousness. Occasionally I'd wake up to find Karen snooping about my room, sifting through my wardrobe and peeking at some of the smutty literature I had tucked in my closet. When I woke in the late afternoon, I found her peeking through my nightstand.

I reached my good hand toward her and caught her wrist in my hand activating my quirk before she could react. "What are you doing, Karen?"

"Trying to get to know you better." She answered honestly.

I was surprised by this. "And you can't just ask me?"

"I can't talk to you. You fluster me too much and I always say the wrong thing." She blurted, her face reddening.

I gaped at her, "Karen...um...are you attracted to me?"

"Yes."

Oh god. If I was a cruel person I'd spill this to the landlord so he could have a heyday with it, but I decided to be nice. "Fine, I'll do you a favor. Take a seat." I smiled.

She sat on the bed beside me with her hand in mine.

"Whatever it is you fantasize about us doing together, it happened." I spoke softly.

Her cheeks flushed with heat and her eyes glazed over with lust.

"It was quite the workout and we were both left completely satisfied." I said in a sultry voice.

She fanned herself with her other hand.

I smiled and let her continue fantasizing about whatever it was she was fantasizing about until she seemed satisfied with whatever had happened before releasing her from my quirk.

She blinked a few times and looked over at me with wide eyes, her face a bright shade of boiled lobster red. "A-are you alright?" She asked shakily.

I held back a laugh, "oh yeah. Must say that was quite fun, Karen, I totally didn't expect that from you."

She looked a bit flustered, "I- ..." She bit her lip and looked away bashfully, "Could we do that again sometime, when you're all healed up?"

What on earth did she think we had done? "Absolutely." I winked.

She blushed again and jumped as she heard the sound of the apartment door opening as the boys returned home from school. "Well I'll be off now." She scrambled for the door, red faced and stumbling.

A few moments later Hitoshi and Kaminari nearly trampled one another to get to my room. "What did you do to Karen?!" Hitoshi demanded.

"Honestly, I have no idea." I giggled.

"What the hell does that mean?" Hitoshi frowned.

"I left it up to her imagination." I smiled and waved my good hand at him.

"Because that won't be awkward later at all." His voice dripped with sarcasm as he rolled his eyes.

Kaminari chuckled.

I noticed movement in the hall behind the boys and spotted Aizawa, "what the hell are you doing here?!" I snapped.

Hitoshi shook his head at me and Aizawa's lips quirked into a small half smile at my combativeness.

"How were you planning on feeding everyone?" Aizawa asked with a smirk.

I looked down at my mostly useless arms and shot him a scowl. "I can manage some simple mea-."

"No!" Hitoshi and even Kaminari snapped in unison.

"What?!" I bristled.

"You're supposed to be on bed rest." Kaminari pouted.

"I'll drug you again." Hitoshi threatened.

I sighed.

"...what was that?" Aizawa asked, concerned.

"A necessary precaution." Hitoshi grumbled.

"Nee-san isn't a very good patient." Kaminari piped up.

"Hey!" I whined as they all proceeded to talk about me like I wasn't there.

Aizawa glanced over at me, his dark eyes dancing with amusement, "I guess that's fair."

"What?!" I snarled.

"We have homework." Hitoshi said with a shrug and dragged Kaminari away.

I groaned, he'd taken the golden retriever with him and he was the easiest one to manipulate which put me at a huge disadvantage. Aizawa remained in the doorway shaking his head at me.

"Should I be worried about Karen?" He mused.

"What?"

"Do I have some competition?" He asked.

I felt my face begin to redden at this and scrambled to recover from the sudden flustered feeling that washed over me. "Maybe, she seemed pretty satisfied so whatever she thought we did must have been pretty fun." I smirked.

Aizawa rubbed his temples for a moment before shaking his head struggling to hold back a laugh. "I'm going to get started on dinner." He noted and disappeared down the hall toward the kitchen.

I didn't like people cooking in my kitchen, especially when I had no idea what their cooking skill level was. After a moment of trying to convince myself it would be fine, I gave up and gingerly got up out of bed. The room started to spin once I was upright and I had to pause for a minute and wait for the world to right itself. Once everything stopped spinning, I headed toward the kitchen. The sound of hurried precise chops met my ears as I tentatively stepped out of the hall and into the kitchen.

Aizawa was chopping vegetables expertly. He paused as if sensing my approach, the knife freezing against the cutting board. "I sincerely hope you're not ignoring your doctor's orders of bed rest or I'll be taking a page out of your brother's book." His stern voice made my heart flutter in my chest. Damn it, why the hell did I react to him when he got all take charge and annoying?!

"I had to make sure you weren't a hopeless mess in the kitchen." I huffed and attempted to fold my arms in front of my chest. My bandaged arms stung as I crossed them and I held back a hiss of pain.

Aizawa turned to me with a stern look that made my stomach attempt somersaults. "Inari." His voice was laced with warning. Part of me really wanted to keep testing him to see what he'd do and I was mildly concerned how excited that particular thought made me.

"Ugh, I think I have a fever." I grumbled as I tried to push down all the weird thoughts.

Aizawa's stern look flashed to one of concern. He set down the knife and was at my side in an instant. I jumped as he placed a hand to my forehead. His lips pulled into a frown, "you do feel warm."

My heart pounded in my chest and my knees trembled still not completely adjusted to me being upright. They buckled beneath me and a pair of strong arms suddenly swept me up. I froze up, tensing at the sudden contact and looked to see Aizawa staring down at me in concern.

He let out a sigh and carried me over to the sofa, "you can make sure I don't set the apartment on fire from here and continue resting." He gently set me on the sofa and swept the soft fleece blanket on the back of the couch around me before going back to the kitchen.

I started to relax as he resumed his cooking. It was hard for me to rely on others, I hated relinquishing control. Though it wasn't likely something I'd ever admit to aloud, I trusted Aizawa. I felt safe enough to relax around him and allowed myself to close my eyes and drift to sleep.
