Last Day of Training
Mack scribbled in her notepad, watching Zena angrily throw axes at the practice dummy. Currently, she was dividing the tributes into two groups. There were the offensive tributes, whose main skills had to do with hunting and killing other tributes. Then there were the defensive tributes, whose main skills were based around evasion and survival. Currently, most of the tributes were defensive. She would have to plan her traps accordingly. Maybe some new creatures . . . she frantically scribbled plans on the paper, completely ignorant to the footsteps behind her.
"What's that?" Kefi asked, microphone in hand. Mack slammed the book shut, sliding it into her pocket.
"Something that does not concern the viewers. It's where I keep my plans for the arena," she replied, clearly annoyed. Kefi either didn't pick up on it, or didn't care, walking up to look through the window.
"Suzz and Lilly are coming up now. They had to help the filming crew with their gear," the announcer told her. Mack bit back a snarky response, focusing on the tributes instead. The sound of loud clunking overshadowed Kefi's next question, as the film crew and the other two announcers entered the room.
"What do you think about Glint leaving the Careers? Do you think it lessens his chances of winning?" Suzz asked, motioning for the cameras to move closer. Mack rolled her eyes, before turning to face the camera crew.
"It depends. The Careers are strong together, but the moment they kill everyone else, they turn on each other. Getting out of that zone might be helpful to him," she replied, before turning back to the tributes. "Of course, you can never be sure of what each tribute will do. I don't even bother guessing".
"Well, I think the viewers want to see a large alliance vs alliance battle. We can't wait for the games to begin!" Lilly exclaimed.
"You have to wait for the scores, you know. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some work to do. Feel free to keep filming the tributes," she told them. Leaving the group on the viewing deck, she strode off towards her office.
Despite the title, this is not another round of training. Please pm me what you plan to do in your evaluation. There are two strategies for evaluation:
Offensive: you go all out to showcase your ability. A higher score can make other tributes afraid of you, but can also make you a higher priority target to tributes and the Gamemakers. May also help to get sponsorships.
Defensive: you decide to lay low, and hide your true ability. Makes you less of a priority target, but makes it less likely that others will stay away from fear. May make you less likely to get sponsorships at the beginning.
Please do not pm me the word offensive or defensive. Make your message something like this:
Katniss shot an arrow directly past the faces of the Gamemakers, hitting an apple and pinning it to the wall.
Or
Peeta demonstrated his camouflage ability, using paint to blend into the wall.
