Due to their slow reaction time, Alexa, Leif, and Maddox were unable to react before Benir fired another arrow. This one went straight through Alexa's stomach. The Career took a few steps forward, then collapsed to her knees next to Electri's body.

"GO!" she screamed to her teammates. Maddox was still frozen in horror and shock. With one last look at Alexa, Leif grabbed Maddox's hand and ran.

Benir calmly nocked another arrow, pulling back and aiming for the fleeing boys. Alexa, however, wasn't going to let her death be in vain.

"Hey, dirtbag!" she shouted. Benir glanced towards her, missing his shot because of it. He nocked another arrow. Slowly, she stood up, as Leif and Maddox made it out of the obsidian walls.

Benir switched his aim to her now, a frustrated look on his face. But before he could fire, she pulled the pin from the grenade she had taken from Electri's body, and threw it. The boom as it exploded covered up the sound of her cannon going off.

Benir is also dead, but Glint could still track you down for revenge. It is also unlikely that you could return to the lake without the Head Gamemaker stopping you.

Glint saw the grenade flying towards Benir, and immediately hunkered down behind is shield. His ears rung as the blast went off. Then, he was thrown back, as the shrapnel and the shockwave hit his shield.

When the smoke cleared, he forced himself off of the bag of apples that had softened his landing. Luckily, the shield had stopped almost all of the shrapnel from hitting him, except for a small piece in his shoulder that he quickly took care of with the Cornucopia's supplies.

He knew that Benir hadn't made it. With nothing to protect him, his partner had probably been shredded to bits by the shrapnel. He had to focus on winning now, so Benir didn't die in vain.

Based on the cannons, he knew that there were only 6 tributes left. Him, Leif, and Maddox were three of them. Who were the others? They had to be from the group of five. Maybe part of the group had turned on the other.

Whatever it was, they weren't close to him. Leif and Maddox were. He could easily hunt them down with his superior speed. Or, he could just wait for the feast.

Another cannon went off. Make that five tributes.

Maximus and Ripley watched in horror as Flink's breathing grew shallower. The small boy looked up at them desperately. "It hurts. Please, just make the pain stop. I want it to stop". Maximus lifted his spear, and took a few steps forward.

"Maximus, no! What are you doing?!" Ripley cried, trying to pull the Career's arm back. Maximus stood still, not budging an inch.

"I'm sorry, Ripley, but this is the only way," he said. He turned to Flink, who had begun to shake on the ground. "I can stop the pain, Flink, but you won't be coming back. I won't do it unless you agree. Do you understand?"

Flink nodded emphatically, which caused him to wince in pain. "Please, do it. Just do it". In one smooth movement, Maximus hefted his spear and drove it through Flink's heart. The cannon went off, and Ripley wailed.

Maximus let the younger boy hug him, sobbing, as he tried to stop the tears from coming. They had to move on. There were only three other tributes left.
