The team waits on the roof of the compound for the helicopter to arrive with Doctor Cordin.
"So do you think is gonna be like the movies?" Tony asks suddenly, "you know, straightjacket, muzzle to keep her from trying to bite us?"
"She's a scientist, not a feral dog," Banner glares at him.
"I'm just saying," Tony shrugs, "we haven't had a mad scientist here before."
The helicopter lands not ten minutes later and half a dozen armored guards exit the side doors. A separate door is opened and a woman in thick cuffs is pulled out. Around her neck lay the inhibitor collar, keeping her other form at bay.
"Finally," she says over dramatically, "it's really stuffy in there, you know? Maybe add some vents for better air flow," she rambles on as one of the guards works at getting her cuffs off, "and I don't know, maybe a seat. I know you guys know what it's like to have to stand around for hours at a time," the cuffs are finally off, "it's no fun."
She yanks the guards head down and lifts her knee, smashing it against the visor, effectively shattering it, then makes a run for it. She runs to the edge of the building and jumps off.
"Pietro!" Fury shouts.
The male Maximoff twin is gone in the blink of an eye and returns holding the woman in front of him by her arms.
"Eh," the woman shrugs, "worth a shot."
She jolts her elbow back, hitting the man in the stomach. He leans over and groans in pain, holding his stomach.
"Not so fast now are you?" She grins at him.
She turns fully to him and holds his chin to look at her, tight enough that he grasps her wrist to try and pull it off to no avail.
"Don't ever try to restrain me like that again," she squeezes more, making him his in pain, "got it, speedy?"
He nods quickly and she releases him, turning back to the rest of the team.
"I suppose introductions are in order," she says with a wide grin.
Pietro quickly joins the others, standing beside his sister as he rubs his chin.
"I thought the collar stopped your powers," he groans.
"Au contraire monfraire," she grins wider, "it stops Vil from saying hello in person. And that's only about half strength thanks to the damn thing."
"You have her strength?" Banner looks to her, baffled, "how?"
"Trial and error," she shrugs, "originally it was just the strength, Vil came after."
"So you can't turn into her, but you still really strong," Tony deadpans, "wonderful."
"What?" She makes a pouting face, "you don't like women that are stronger than you?" She chuckles, "good, cuz I don't like men that are weaker than me."
"Dr. Cordin, if you don't mind," Bruce interrupts, trying to bring the subject back to the topic at hand, "I'd like to discuss your experiments and the results in my lab."
"You must be Dr. Banner," she grins, stepping closer to him, "finally, someone that I can hold a truly intellectual conversation with. I'd gladly like to discuss my experiments with you. Perhaps you can help me figure out how to stop them remotely."
"So you don't know how to stop it?" Bruce asks.
"Not yet," she sighs, "I don't know what exactly those bastards did to it to weaponize it."
"Daddy?" A small voice comes from behind the group.
"Morgan," Tony turns to his daughter, "what are you doing here? You're supposed to be inside."
"I can't find mom," she goes to him and wraps her arms around his waist.
Bruce looks to Silen, finding her looking solemnly at the young girl, her hand slowly moving to her stomach unconsciously.
"Do you have a child?" He asks her.
"I did once," she still looks at Morgan, "she was killed."
"By you?" Tony looks at the woman with narrowed eyes.
"No," she shakes her head, "by her father. Right in front of me."
There's a long pause of silence as the group takes in her words.
"You're lucky to have your daughter," Silen breaks the silence, "make sure you keep her safe."
Tony just stares at her, expression softening.
"I'm sorry about your daughter," his says softly.
"It was years ago," she shakes her head, "she's in a better place now."
Morgan lets go of her dad and walks over to Silen, stopping just in front of her. Silen knees down so that she's at eye level with her, tucking a stand of hair behind her ear and admiring the little girl. Morgan wraps her arms around her in a tight hug.
"I'm sure you were a great mom," she whispers.
"Thank you," Silen whispers back, returning the hug as she fights back tears.
There's nothing in the world she wouldn't give to be able to hold her little girl in her arms again.
They let go and Silen smiles fondly at Morgan, making a silent vow to protect the precious child at all costs.
Morgan returns to her dad as Silen gets back to her feet and Tony make a mental note of the woman's soft spot for kids.
Bruce thinks of all the things the woman had been arrested for and compares it to the delicate moment that had just passed.
There was no way that this woman would have just gone on a rampage over her husband's actions. There has to be something that was missed. Something else that made her do it.
And he is determined to find out what.
