▪ THIRTY-FIVE

(A/N : Unedited. I was stubborn. I really want to release this update today. And I got severe writers block for I don't know how long. It was raining here too, so it makes things worse. I'm not feeling well now 😅. But dont worry. I'm very sure I'll be okay tomorrow as I took paracetamol just now.

Stay healthy, everyone! 😭💜

P/S: the situation in the chapter is really tense...)

That evening, after Mrs Kim tried to get Jungkook's attention, everyone was quiet. Everything seemed bad. No one said anything after that moment.

While Seokjin was preparing for dinner, Mrs Kim was at the living watching a variety show. As Jungkook didn't do anything, he decided to go to the kitchen and coaxed Seokjin to let him help.

"Let me help you, hyung." Jungkook startled the older when he was stir frying the vegetables on the pan.

"It's okay. Go and sit with my mother."

"I don't want to sit with her."

"Jungkook," Seokjin said with a deep tone.

However, Jungkook ignored it. "You're injured. You're the one who should sit. Besides, she's your mother."

"I'm preparing our meals."

"But I can do it too."

"Jungkook-ah, please!" Seokjin's demanding tone scared Jungkook a little.

Why? Why Seokjin always demanding him to be with his parents?

To Jungkook, he was only their nephew, but Mr Kim and Mrs Kim treated him like he was their own son. He recalled during the first time he lived with them, Seokjin was a little distant with him but he was very young and innocent at that time, so he didn't care how the older treated him but tried hard to be close with Seokjin.

After Jungkook lost GaEun, Seokjin changed. He became more caring and less cold to him. But he didn't care. At that time, he needed comfort and the person he had was Seokjin. Mr and Mrs Kim were always busy with work.

After a long time being with each other, they became close. Seokjin loved to tease him every single day as if he was his own brother and Jungkook loved that. He loved the attention he got from Seokjin, but not from his cousin's parents. At that moment, he hoped everything that he wanted an answer would be answered soon.

Seokjin's sigh brought Jungkook away from his thoughts. The older put the cooking paddle on the counter and brought a plate beside the wok.

"Hyungnim, it's dangerous." Jungkook instantly grabbed the wok by it's handle. Seokjin stared at Jungkook with a glare. Jungkook added, "don't hurt yourself anymore."

"Jungkook, how many times do I have to tell you?"

"How many times do I have to show that I'm uncomfortable around uncle and aunty? Do I have to satisfy everything what they or you want, Seokjin hyung?"

'Jungkook's talking back,' Seokjin thought. That was the first time Jungkook talking back after in awhile. Jungkook might be all hitting him (for fun) or ignoring him for his jokes (also for fun. He thought some of his jokes are funny sometimes), but Jungkook never talk back like that.

Jungkook was growing with him ever since he was fifteen. Defending himself, siding Seokjin. That's what Seokjin thought at first when Jungkook talked back. Or maybe he's still going through puberty?

Thinking that Jungkook might be still going through puberty, he decided to lose for him. Seokjin sighed. "Okay. Here." He handed the younger cooking paddle.

Jungkook smiled lightly as he stretched his arms closer to grab the paddle. However, before he could move his hands around the wok, he heard "Jungkook!" coming from the living room.

Jungkook exhaled a deep sigh, pushing down the food from the wok onto the plate. Seokjin wanted to make the younger to answer his mother but that day, he got the feeling that it's getting more obvious that Jungkook didn't like his parents, though he didn't know the reason for him to act like that to his parents.

"My father is arriving here later at dawn. You better answer my mother."

Jungkook let Seokjin words passed by. "Done," he told, putting down the wok into the sink and turned the faucet.

Seokjin was only able to watch the younger preparing plates, spoons and chopsticks. Later, he put them on the counter to prepare cups and drinks.

Mrs Kim appeared at the kitchen doorframe when Jungkook was making drinks in a jug. She was holding a phone and when Jungkook looked at her, he knew it was his phone.

Jungkook slowly put down the cold water in his hand and asked, "why is my phone with you?"

"I heard your phone was ringing and –"

"You should have let it be."

"The call might be from –"

"It's none of your business!"

That's when Seokjin interrupted by yelling at his cousin. "Jeon Jungkook, you've gone too far!"

Mrs Kim and Jungkook jumped at that.

Tell me, who would want to see someone being rude to your parents? Even if there are things that made us unsatisfied with them, parents are still the people who watched us and helped us to grow.

That thinking applied to Kim Seokjin. He viewed that Jungkook had crossed his lines and he couldn't stay quiet anymore. It didn't matter if he's the type who wasn't easily getting irritated, but everyone had their limits.

Mrs Kim carefully went into the area and placed the phone in her hand on the counter. She didn't move away after that, rather stayed and wondering how was the response the Jungkook gave him.

But Mrs Kim didn't get any words from Jungkook. Not even talking back like earlier. The youngest man in the family grabbed the phone from the counter and immediately left with his car keys with him.

He drove himself away from the apartment to calm his mind. All thoughts about his cousin's parents that stayed in mind made him to press the acceleration pedal deeper. The anger he had inside. Why?

Before the speed meter reach 180km/h, an incoming call came. A notification could be seen through the screen that he had on his dashboard.

Kim Nahee

His cooled down when he saw that name. His mind slowly got back to it's good state. His foot that pressed the acceleration pedal raised up to make the speed slower. He gave a signal to change lane and turned his steering wheels to move to the edge of the road.

He then stopped, changed the gear to 'N' and pulled the brake handle. He sighed. Nahee's incoming call was still on the notification screen.

He pressed the green button. "Hello."

"Oh my, Jungkook. I'm glad you answered me."

"Ah... What's up?"

Silence for awhile. "Jungkook?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah."

Quiet again. "Uhm. Can you pick me up? My brother or my mother can't pick me up."

"At the college?"

"Yup!"

"Okay. We'll grab something to drink after this. Okay?"

"Sure."

And, they hung up.

**********

On the other side, Nahee stared at her phone with her eyebrows creased. She pushed herself down on the college's entrance staircase and sat.

'Is Jungkook okay?'
