A hand gripped the steering wheel while the other hand rubbed his philtrum as if he wanted to hide his lips that wanted to open up the laughter that he tried to bear. His cheeks getting a cramp while his eyes were crinkling at the corner.
On the other side of the passenger seat beside him, Nahee was mentally whining for being embarrassing. She should have straight to the point when she needed help from Jungkook.
"You're not bad to be an actress if you pick horror-comedy," Jungkook uttered before he snorted as he bore his laugh.
Nahee's eyebrows formed an angry line as she glared at Jungkook's shaking shoulders. There was a tiny shine at the corner of her eyes. The longer she glared at him, the bigger the shine got, and then it streamed down her cheeks. It was her tears that gathered at the corner of her eyes when she glared.
Jungkook turned his head slightly to check her expression. He gulped, realising the girl was crying.
"M-Miss Nahee. I didn't mean to —"
"Fine. Laugh. Laugh! It's funny!"
Jungkook startled at Nahee's yelling. The yelling hurt his ears. He gulped, pressing his ears to relieve the ringings inside.
To be honest, he found it was cute and funny to see Nahee's reaction earlier when he found her somewhere in an alley, but after seeing how sensitive she was, the thoughts were better to be removed.
«« REWIND •• A FEW MINUTES AGO
Nahee was still debating whether she could ask the man to send her home. She could not contact her brother as she remembered he was celebrating his and his girlfriend's anniversary. They were probably making out the time Nahee thought about her brother.
'Nevermind,' she thought. 'I'll just walk.'
She watched as Jungkook enjoyed the pancakes that she brought and then pulled her shirt's long sleeve to check at the time that was shown on her wristwatch.
It was already 6 in the evening and the sky was slowly darkening. The sky was already in a hue of orange and yellow, giving the sign that the sun was about to set to the west. She knew she should leave quickly before the sky getting darker.
Actually, she was waiting for Jungkook to finish the pancake so that she can bring the container back with her, but she knew it could be rude if she asked Jungkook for the container straightforwardly when he hadn't finished his food yet. So, she left the container with him. She never minded that it was her mother's favourite Tupperware.
She packed her things and smiled at Jungkook. "I've to go."
With a questioning look on his face, Jungkook showed the puff on the side of his cheeks as he hadn't yet finished chewing.
"I'm not allowed to hang out until night," she lied. It's a white lie, anyway...
Before Jungkook could ask her a question, she scurried out of the café and slammed the door shut. Leaving the café further, she mumbled, "I just need to stay safe while on my way there."
The farther she walked, the more she realised she got tired. She also realised the only way she could get home a little quicker was by passing an alley.
She turned her head to see the alley, which was across a traffic light and a sign of roofs that led her to her housing area made her gulp. The alley was so dark; she did not know if there were any other creatures living in that alley. By creatures she meant was ghosts.
She stepped across the zebra crossing, walking leisurely, as the light was still green. Once she arrived in between of two building which created the alley, she walked forward with heavy steps, hesitatingly welcoming herself into the eerie path.
Only a yellow light was flickering, lit her way, supporting her eyes to see the path. Water dripping, chiming around the alley. Soft breeze blew across as she shivered in fear.
"Whoever you are, I-I'm just using the path to go home. Excuse m-me," Nahee said. She also heard giggles, making her arms hairs stood.
"It-It's f-funny, right?" She let out a nervous chuckle as she continued to walk.
Dogs barked at the other neighbourhood scared her more. What else she just heard them howled. She let out a tear of fear while still encouraging herself to walk across the alley.
Tap
Tap
Tap
Tap
Tap...
She froze when she heard footsteps behind her. With her remaining courage, she turned around to see. The flickering light did not help her much, as the only thing she could catch was a figure of a man slowly grinning at her.
She gulped, tears started flooding her cheeks, and that was when she ran as fast as she could.
She ran and ran, and the mysterious man ran and ran, following her.
'Ghost can run?' She internally talked to herself. 'Or maybe a rapist?!'
As she ran, her books dropped to the ground and the important notes that she wrote during her class scattered. Because her notes were so important, she cried, since they would be part of her exams. While mulling over herself to pick the notes or not, the man was approaching closer and closer.
Nahee finally lost her marbles. She knelt down as her bag dropped from her shoulder to the ground. She rubbed her hands as if she was pleading after that.
She apologised formally, bowing down as she knelt and then said, "please... Let me go. I'm sorry that I've used your path. I know I shouldn't."
Under the moonlight, it revealed the man at last. But Nahee was busy crying and mumbling.
The man squatted down, a knee lower than the other as his arms rested on them. His eyebrows furrowed as he watched the girl was still rubbing her hands and crying with eyes closed.
"Miss Nahee," he called, but she did not answer, the more he listened to her weeping and nonsense prayer. He tried calling her again, but his attempt betrayed him. Finally, he had no choice but to shake her body hard.
"Kim Nahee!" He shouted. Nahee stopped and gasped. The man's hands were strongly gripping on her shoulders as her eyes widened because of the shock she got when he shook her. His expression softened as their eyes were staring at each other.
There was a long beep in her mind as if it was trying to register if the man that stood in front of her was true.
"It's me," he whispered. The voice was too real for Nahee to break away from the beep that caused her spacing out. Seeing him smiled softly at her, she immediately got up and wrapped her arms around his neck, crying again.
The sudden action surprised him. Jungkook almost stumbled to the back, but he balanced himself with the muscles he had in his legs.
"Jungkook," she cried. "I'm scared." Jungkook's eyes softened when he listened to Nahee's trembling voice.
She could not bear the sobs that she had borne all along the way when she was escaping. She let out everything in the embrace while Jungkook silently chuckled. He slowly landed the palm of his hand upon Nahee's head, patting it softly to tell her, "everything is alright."
FAST FORWARD »» •• PRESENT
She cried out loud in the car as Jungkook felt wrong for teasing her. He should not have teased her.
"Na-Nahee, want to grab some ice cream?"
Jungkook's question reminded her of Namjoon, how he would avoid something that will make their mother mad — and that includes for breaking her Tupperware or for making her precious daughter sulks. He would tell her; "Nahee-ya, if you don't tell eomma, I promise to get you chocolates."
She did not like how her brother prioritising his girlfriend before her at the situation where their mother was not at home. She spoke as her emotions controlled her.
"Don't act like Kim Namjoon! I hate ice cream, I hate ice cream, I hate ice cream!!" she cried.
But Jungkook knew a girl like Nahee would not reject an ice cream even if she said she hates it.
**********
Legs were on the ground, moving back and forth as the swings swung in the rhythm with the legs pushing the ground.
The couple was enjoying a cone of ice cream. The man heard the girlfriend sniffed, pulling in the snot that was trying to escape from her nose.
Jungkook sighed and then chuckled before he tucked a hand into his jeans pocket to get a piece of tissue. He passed it to Nahee.
Nahee stared at his hand that held a piece of tissue for a moment before taking it and wiped her nose.
"I'm sorry," Jungkook expressed as he crumpled the ice cream paper wrapper in his hand and tossed it to a nearby rubbish bin.
Nahee sniffed, taking another bite on the ice cream cone and said, "yeah..."
For a moment, there was silence.
"Just 'yeah'?"
"What else do you want me to say?" She questioned back as she shoved in the last piece of the ice cream waffle and chewed it before swallowing.
Jungkook could only let out a chuckle as Nahee sounded a little harsh when saying out her words. He swept off the dirt that glued on his hands before taking out his phone from his trousers' pocket.
He made an admiring gaze at Nahee, who was still chewing the waffle in the mouth, her feet pushed and pulled the ground to sway the swing, entertaining herself as a smooth wind blew across her, her baby hair softly moved back and forth in the swing's rhythm swayed. Both of her hands held the chain supporters tightly. Her moistened eyelashes made her eyes looked sparkly as she looked up, attracted to the dark, clear sky which was adorned with twinkling stars.
The girl had amazed him once today. Or maybe a lot!
"I'm reporting to my father about you."
Jungkook turned his head to look at her. He observed around after that, looking for a man. "I don't see you talk to someone who seems like your father."
"I am," Nahee halted, still looking up at the sky. "He's up there."
Jungkook followed her gaze up to the sky as he questioned himself about what Nahee just meant. Suddenly, he remembered he would look up at the sky when he missed his deceased parents and someone he used to love. He finally understood and knew where Nahee's father was right now.
He turned his head to make a glance at Nahee and spoke up his mind to her, "why are you telling me this?"
She curved her lips to form a smile and two soft dimples on her cheeks. Staring at him for a moment, she then released a soft breath.
"You're my boyfriend and I'm your girlfriend."
Her statement just struck Jungkook's mind. He had not had someone who would admit him to her boyfriend, even though contracted.
He stared at her for quite long, anticipating her next words.
"I can trust you and share my story with you, can't I?"
Speechless...

First, I'm sorry if the latter part seems to sound a little off. Wattpad deleted the part where Nahee told Jungkook that she reported about Jungkook to her father. I found out that the well-written part was missing. And I HAD TO REWRITE IT! I forgot to save this chapter in my drive ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
...nvm...
Anw;

Forgive me for my grammar and spelling mistakes. Please vote, comment and share this story with other Wattpaders 💕💕
