Contraband (Part 12)
Hi hi
I hope you guys enjoy! x
I really liked how this chapter turned out so can you please let me know if you like it too? :)
Getting a hold of a man who didn't want to be found was never simple. Calls were avoided, messages were unanswered, associates were ignorant. All in all, a frustrating experience for Harry, who wanted nothing more than to be payed what he was simply owed in drug costs
Mark never was a trustworthy soul
He took whatever he wanted from wherever he pleased and had no loyalties to anyone in the industry. No morals, no dependency. He only had his home of filth and an undeniable drug addiction that couldn't possibly leave him capable of taking care of a nineteen year old boy
Harry had no pity for the ones who didn't at least try to better themselves. He'd gotten clean, and if he could do it then so could everyone else. It wasn't an easy ride, far from it, but with persistence and a heck of a lot of nursing, he pulled through
It's what made Harry different from the rest of the low life scum among the sick industry that he was all but thrown into. He held his morals; a trait he'd learnt from his mother. Though he believed in discipline to anyone who crossed him, he tried at all costs to protect the innocent. The damaged souls and the birds with broken wings that lay helplessly on your window ledge
All of this is what made him better. Battling his almost inevitable drug addiction was just a bonus
Harry decided that Mark must have been on the hunt for drugs elsewhere, evading all forms of Harry's contact whilst desperately doing so. Harry was smart, tactical even when it came to finding Mark, but there was no one more cunning than a man craving a fix. A man with nothing to lose. A man with one single mission. Get high
So, with this in mind, Harry resorted to trying to solve one of his other many problems. The problem he'd discussed with Liam just the day prior. Being an infamous, world renowned drug-lord-slash-gang-leader was far from restful when there was a long list of people that needed to be dealt with in the most brutal way possible
One of the problems was the escaped members of Edwards gang that were almost certainly spreading the word that Louis was living with the Styles gang to anyone who would listen. Another was Harry's ongoing feud with the Perez brother (mind, only two of the three were currently alive). A third was Mark, no explanation needed. And a fourth was another drug addict that Harry had been trying to run dry for a while now
Liam had named the final problem 'code: Mandy' for a lack of both intelligence and secrecy. But the name stuck, however, making it simple enough for Harry to remember and stick by. Catch the mistress, take the money, slay the beast. Simple enough
It was Zayn, as usual, who did most of the heavy lifting- not physically, but mentally rather- as he was the only one who knew how to track down Mandy.
Zayn traced the girl with the use of his carefully crafted technology, Liam 'took' her to the car and Niall drove away. The perfect team, really; complete with Harry sat at home watching and listening to the whole ordeal with the use of cameras and earpieces
It wasn't long until, as expected, the man in question came looking for his mistress, almost definitely in love with the woman despite everything
Harry made quick work of punching the man; knocking him out in one swift punch and then dragging him to the middle of one of the living rooms where most of his 'negotiations', for lack of a better word, played out
When the man awoke, tied in the middle of the floor with Mandy tied across from him, Harry was looking in the full length mirror at the far side of the room. Droplets of blood were speckled down his shirt as he rolled up his sleeves, readying himself for business
He turned to face Darren with a taunting smile "I apologise for the hasty punch, Mr O'Connor" was the first thing that Harry said "I forget that I have a mean left swing" he commented, gesturing to the gash on the side of the victim's face
Blood splattered across the front of Harry's own white shirt, alongside the stream of it coming from Darren's ear and cheek, trickling down his fat neck
The tied man almost choked on his words as he looked at Harry "Mr Styles, whatever you think I've done-" he cut himself off as he noticed a figure moving across from him "Oh, Mandy!" He exclaimed, fear evident in his wide brown eyes before he turned back to face Harry "Oh God, you have to let her go"
"Blasphemous of you to use that title for me" Harry commented, only half joking though "I'll take it though" he added dismissively "As I am the one in control of your lives right now"
Zayn stifled a laugh, ever amused by Harry's incredulous sense of humour
"I didn't do anything" the man insisted, looking up with pleading eyes "I'll pay every penny I owe you-" he struggled on his final words "Just- just let us go"
Harry tilted his head to the side, walking over and crouching down to level with the man; the gang leader paused for a second, toying with the knife in his hands as he looked the man over. With no hesitation, and with an empty look in his green eyes, Harry plunged the knife into Darren's shoulder
It was Mandy who screamed behind her taped up mouth, both out of fear and shock at what Harry had just done to her lover
Darren let out a sharp cry as Harry withdrew, pulling out the knife and standing back up "Mr Styles-"
"Now don't lie to me, Darren, do you have the money?" Harry asked, cutting the man off quickly
O'Connor fish mouthed for a couple of seconds before shaking his head "N-no, but I can get it!" He promised "I can have it to you by the end of the day!" He almost cried out
Harry turned to Zayn "Now, Doctor, from a wound like that, how long will it take for him to bleed out?" He asked
Zayn hummed softly, looking the victim over thoughtfully "I'd say he's got around twenty minutes if he survives the shock" he answered finally
Harry hummed in reply, swiftly throwing the sharp knife and smiling as if stuck into the man's fleshy side "And now?" He asked
Zayn turned to Harry, raising a brow "Less than half of that" he answered easily
Harry grinned, turning back to Darren who was practically writhing in pain on the floor "Hear that, Mr O'Connor?" He questioned "You have less than ten minutes to tell me exactly where you're going to get this money"
Darren winced when Harry crouched back down next to him, struggling to try and pull away "Please, no more" the man cried out
"Where is the money?" Harry snapped
There was a sob before Darren answered "Sir, I don't have it yet-"
"You sold your fourteen year old daughter to a recognised paedophile to pay off your mistress" Harry shouted "And now you don't have my money?" The fury in his voice was almost hysterical
Another sob "If you just give me the chance, I'll get it" Darren pleaded
Harry let out a bitter laugh "And you won't even deny it" he muttered, half sadly "And here I was, hoping that I was mistaken, Mr O'Connor" he said quietly "Here I was hoping that you were a good man"
"I'll get the money-"
"Liar!"
Harry's exclamation cut Darren short, silencing the man. There was a moments silence where Zayn almost believed that Darren had died before Harry spoke up again and the man flinched, despite the gang leaders voice being calmer than before
"Liam, let him go" Harry said finally
"Thank you so much Mr. Styles, you won't regre-"
"And kill his mistress" he added, cutting the man off once again
A look of dread crossed Darren's face "No, no please don't do that" he was suddenly begging, his eyes darting to Mandy frantically as if a simple look could save her
A wave of thankfulness washed over Harry as he realised that he would never be so desperate as to beg for anyone else's life. Loving the weak was a weakness in itself. Harry was joyous that he didn't have the heart to do so
"Disgusting, both of you" Harry commented and he pulled a gun from his back pocket "You ruined the life of a child for the likes of each other" he half tutted "I hope that God shows you no mercy in his ruling" he added simply
Liam untied Darren, dragging the man up to his feet and holding his bleeding body upright
The was a short sigh on Harry's end and he raised the gun to Mandy's head "And you can watch her die" he said, pointing and shooting before he had the chance to hesitate
"Oh god, Mandy!" Darren cried out, flopping limp in Liam's arms
Harry sighed again, turning to the culprit "And then you can die" he added shortly, watching and relishing in the brief look of fear in the man's eyes before shooting him in the head
Liam gasped sharply, blood splattering his face "Jesus, fuck!" He practically choked out "Warn a guy first, would you?" he snapped, dropping the man's now lifeless body
"Now where's the fun in that?" Harry questioned with a grin
"There isn't any apparently" Liam replied, rolling his eyes
"Don't be bitter" Harry told him, turning back around to look into the mirror
More blood spilt down his face and covered the entirety of his outfit, but Harry was smiling, fixing the collar of his shirt and licking his lips slowly
"Try not to look so happy about it, Harry" Zayn scolded softly, no bite at all behind his words
Harry didn't have the chance to reply before Niall was speaking "Where'd the kid go?" The blonde asked
"Outside, I believe" Zayn replied
Harry turned to him abruptly "Outside?" He snapped
Zayn shrugged "You deaf or something?" He questioned
Harry scoffed, unbuttoning his shirt as he headed to the door "He's not supposed to leave this building" he reminded
"He can sit in the garden, Harry, that's not a crime" Zayn defended "Kid needs some air in his lungs" he added
Harry shook his head, heading towards the door as soon as he'd dressed himself in something a little less bloody "By the time I return, I want the bodies disposed of and a solid plan to kill every single member of his gang" he stated, pointing to the dead man on the floor "And, for God's sake, one of you go rescue his daughter". Before any of the boys had a chance to protest or even argue that getting them to do all the work was completely unfair, Harry was gone

"Louis?"
Louis turned around quickly, still sat on the grass as he tried to flinch at the sound of the familiar voice. He saw Harry walking out of the house, not looking in his direction but more towards the road across from them
"I'm over here" Louis called back, timid despite his volume
Harry turned to face him, catching the boy's eyes before quickly walking over; Louis looked down, cheeks flushing red
Harry was soon by his side, as if leaving him for a second longer would result in the boy's disappearance "I thought you'd run away" he admitted
Louis swallowed, slowly shaking his head "Wouldn't do that" he said softly
Harry blinked, brows furrowing as he looked down at the boy "And why's that?" He quizzed
Louis shrugged softly "I have nowhere else to go" he answered quietly
Harry's whole persona faltered and he changed the subject "What are you doing outside?" The man asked
The sadness in the teenagers voice immediately faded, eyes brightening up as he looked at the beauty surrounding him "I just like the garden, that's all" he said
"You do?" Harry questioned with a puzzled smile and Louis nodded "I planted these for my mother" he added softly, pointing to the roses in the corner "This whole garden was made in her memory"
"It's beautiful" Louis told him, his voice sincere
"I'm not the greatest gardener" Harry admitted "But I have Zayn help out sometimes"
"I like those" Louis told him, pointing to where there was an array of flower arches
The garden was massive; it consisted of small paths, a fountain in the centre and a wooden bridge to cross the thin stream. You could get lost in the beauty of it or you could get lost in the complexity of it; Louis was sure that he would've gone astray if it hadn't been for Niall giving him a garden tour upon his arrival
"If you like it so much then it's yours for as long as you stay" Harry said simply, the least he could offer "The garden is for you and her"
Louis was silent, simply staring up at Harry from his position on the floor with a smile "Thank you" he finally managed, slightly overwhelmed at the former's proposition
Harry looked down at him, their eyes connecting for a brief second before Louis looked away
"Did she like flowers?" Louis asked quietly
"She did" Harry confirmed, sitting down next to him on the grass
"Roses?" he said
"Her favourite" Harry explained "She'd put them everywhere" he added with a smile "In the garden, in her bedroom, on the dining table in a vase. The house was practically red with the amount of roses she'd have"
"It sounds beautiful" Louis told him
"It was" Harry agreed "It was utterly mesmerising"
Louis didn't know what to reply to this, so he didn't, he just let Harry get caught up in the memories of his past
"You would have liked her" Harry said softly "I'm sure of it" he muttered "Everyone did"
"I'm sure I would have" Louis replied "She seemed lovely"
"Most of the time she was" Harry agreed "We were different in that way at least" he continued
Louis had never seen him like this. So utterly joyous and lost in thought and memories and happiness. He was smiling. Louis wasn't sure if he'd ever seen Harry smile before, and if he had then it certainly wasn't like this. Not with this much fondness and enthusiasm and hope. Tenderness dripping from each word, his tone soft; vulnerable and open
"Every personality trait she had was the opposite to mine" Harry chuckled as he spoke, lost in his own world for the moment "But we looked so alike, you could almost confuse us" he was so caught up in memories after saying this, reliving those halcyon days in his mind as Louis watched, mesmerised at the passionate way he spoke of her
There was a moment of silence where his thoughts seemed to almost consume him. Louis saw it as the gleam in his eyes suddenly vanished, fading back into the dull lifelessness that usually possessed him. Sickly sweet to a dark abysmal nothing
"She was so happy" he muttered finally "Only the devil could take away her smile, and he did"
He coughed a couple of time after saying this and his whole aura stiffened once more. The childish purity inside of him blackening before Louis' own eyes as the gang leader was harshly forced back into the present with nothing but memories of the one he loved and lost
"Come inside and eat" Harry said shortly before turning around and leaving without so much as glance to the boy left on the grass
Intrigued, confused, pitiful
