*(Y/N) POV*

Few days passed since my and Jaune's talk on the roof and to our surprise he started hanging out with Cardin a bit too much. Me and my guys are sitting in our room, discussing why

Ryze: "I told you guys. Cardin have Jaune's nudes and he is blackmailing him"

(Y/N): "Ryze, one, that would be gay for Cardin to have Jaune's nudes. Two, I don't think Cardin is smart enough to get a wireless camera set up there"

Sam: "One thing is sure. Cardin have something to keep Jaune as his lapdog"

Mako: "I told you (Y/N). If you would let me and Nora to break his limbs, we could've avoid this"

(Y/N): "We are not breaking any bones. If Glynda or Ozpin get to know this they would've expelled us"

Ryze: "I knew some people like Cardin. And only way to teach them a lesson is to break some of their bones"

(Y/N): "Not you too... Guys, tomorrow Glynda is taking us to Forever Fall. Better take some rest, we will need it" I stood up from my bed and started to walk out

Sam: "Where're you going?"

(Y/N): "To get some fresh air, and maybe speak with Jaune if I would meet him"

Ryze: "Do your thing" With that I exited the room to see Jaune looking inside his dorm. Soon Ruby also get out of her room

Ruby: "Hey Jaune. Hey (Y/N)" she scared Jaune

(Y/N): "Hey Ruby"

Jaune: "Guh!"

Ruby: "Long time no see"

(Y/N): "Four days to be specific"

Ruby: "Did you lock yourself out again?"

Jaune: "OH uh, nope! Heh, got it!" he showed us his scroll

Ruby: "So, where have you been lately?"

Jaune: "I, uh... I messed up"

(Y/N): "Pretty bad if you want my opinion"

Ruby: "Let Jaune continue, (Y/N)"

(Y/N): "Sorry"

Jaune: "I did something I shouldn't have, and now Cardin has me on a leash"

'Cardin must've heard about Jaune's fake transcripts. Now, my hand itches to break Cardin's bones too'

(Y/N): "You want me to 'speak' with him about it?" I cracked my knuckles as Jaune shake his head saying 'No'

Jaune: "Because of that Pyrrha won't even talk to me, and... *sigh* I'm starting to think coming up to this school was a bad idea. I'm a failure" he slides down his doors

Ruby: "Nope"

Jaune: "Nope?"

Ruby: "Nope. You're a leader now, Jaune. You're not allowed to be a failure"

Jaune: "But, what if I'm a failure at being a leader?"

Ruby: "Mmm... nope" I chuckled

Jaune: "You know, you're not the easiest person to talk to about this kind of stuff" we went to sit next to him

Ruby: "Nope" I just started laughing

(Y/N): "Cute, stubborn, little rose. Maybe you get to the core. Tell Jaune what I told you before" she lightly blushed and nodded

Ruby: "Jaune, maybe you were a failure when you were a kid" Jaune sighed and slopped down more "And you might've even been a failure the first day we met" he sighed again "But you can't be one now. You know why?"

Jaune: "Uh, because?"

Ruby: "Because like (Y/N) told me before, it not about you anymore. You've got a team now, Jaune. Us three do. And if we fail, then we'll just be bringing them down with us. We have to put our teammates first, and ourselves second. Your team deserves a great leader, Jaune. And I think that can be you."

(Y/N): "She is right Jaune. Now..." I help him up "Go make it up with your teammates. They need their leader" He nodded and walked away, leaving me and Ruby alone

(Y/N): "I'm proud of you Ruby, you are a fast learner" I patted her head

Ruby: "What can I say, I had a good teacher..." We smiled at each other and then by just some natural magnetism we started leaning towards each other. I looked into her silver eyes as she looked into mine. We close them and when our lips were about to connect I heard Ryze screaming from our dorm

Ryze: "Oi! (L/N)! Get here and turn these damn lights off!"

'Talk about a cockblock...' 

Me and Ruby seemed to wake up from our little dream and both of our faces flushed

(Y/N): "Uhh... S-sorry Ruby. I-i think i n-need to get back t-to my room"

Ruby: "Y-yeah. G-goodnight (Y/N)"

(Y/N): "N-night P-petals" she quickly entered her room and I did the same. I instantly lied on my bed, face first into the pillow

Ryze: "Something happened (Y/N)?"

(Y/N): "You! Shut up!"

Ryze: "Wow. Who kicked you in the balls?"

(Y/N): "Be quiet and go to sleep!"

Ryze: "Ligh..." I didn't let him finish as I grabbed one of Mako's pistols and shoot the light bulb "Okay... that works too..."

I started thinking about what happened with Ruby

'Were we really going to kiss? I knew I like her, she have a cute face, a beautiful smile and those silver eyes, she is sweet and carrying... we both have so much in common. But I wasn't expecting her to like me back' Then I realized I was a dense idiot... 'I'm a fucking idiot. Oh my Oum. She gave me some clear signs, like that head pats a few days ago, being jealous of Velvet, not saying anything that she always was kinda happier with me. Do I really love her or is this just kind of dumb crush?'

 I tried to sleep but my thought always went back to what almost happened and to Ruby 

'Okay, this is just annoying. Curse you hormones. Okay (L/N). Clear your mind like your grandma always told you' I tried that but my mind always come back to red hooded girl 'Fuck!

*Ruby POV*

I wasn't able to sleep. Every time I tried my subconscious went back to (Y/N), he was everything my mind could focus on right now

'Come on brain... stop this...' but my pleads were gone to waste. I got back to when me and him stopped Roman Torchwick, when he saved me from crash landing and later from the Deathstalker during initiation. When he stood up for me against Weiss, his childhood friend, and taught me a true meaning of being a team leader. His silver eyes, his handsome face. He's kind not only to me but to any of his friends. He likes weapons too and he always tries to make me smile or laugh... 'Is Yang right? Do I really like (Y/N) that way?' I closed my eyes trying to get some sleep but it happened again, this time with a weird warm feeling in my chest 'What's this feeling? Is this because my mind went to (Y/N) again? I've never felt this way  before... I... I... I think I'm in love.' 

*(Y/N) POV*

'Okay. There is only one way to think of this. I can't stop thinking about Ruby, and every time it happened I have butterflies in my stomach, I got some crushes before but it never felt that way. *sigh* I've fallen in love with Ruby' I smiled to myself and went to sleep 

*timeskip, next day*

I wake up and the first thing in the morning I was met with are questions from the rest of my team

Ryze: "You have some questions to answer, (L/N)"

Sam: "What happened to you yesterday?" I sighed as I sit up straight and looked at them with seriousness on my face

(Y/N): "Promise you won't tell anyone. Especially you Ryze, to Yang"

*RMS: "We promise"

(Y/N): "Me and Ruby nearly kissed yesterday" they went 'ooohhh'

Ryze: "I told you she have a crush on you! So, you two are dating now?"

(Y/N): "No, we nearly  kissed, not kissed. Thanks for the cockblock by the way"

Ryze: "Sorry, I didn't know. But it's nice you two are slowly getting together. Yang is tired of watching you and Ruby like that"

Mako: "Yeah, yeah. We bet which one of them will make a move first?"

(Y/N): "Hey! Don't bet about things like this!"

Ryze: "I bet 100 Lien on Ruby!"

Sam: "200 Lien on (Y/N)"

(Y/N): "You're a bunch of assholes, you all know that...?" I went out of the room and spotted Ruby. We both immediately blushed, remembering events from yesterday

(Y/N): "H-hey P-petals. How w-was your n-night?"

Ruby: "H-hi (Y/N). I-it was g-good" I decided to take matters in my hands

(Y/N): "Em, Ruby, about yesterday. I'm sorry. I didn't know what went into me"

Ruby: "Huh? O-oh. Don't w-worry (Y/N). I-it's my f-fault too"

(Y/N): "Okay. *sigh* glad to have this sorted out. Come on Rubes. We have a trip to attend" I ran while she stood still there "Petals, today!"

Ruby: "Oh! Right! Coming!" she ran after me

*timeskip, Forever Fall*

Glynda: "Yes, students, the Forest of Forever fall is indeed beautiful"

Ryze: "Not as beautiful as you, my love"

Yang: "*giggle* Oh stop you, you are gonna make me blush"

Glynda: "But we are not here to sight-see. Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside this forest, and I'm here to make sure non of you die while doing so" Professor Goodwitch stopped and so do the rest of the group.  I heard a grunt and I turn around to see Jaune with six empty jar and a box of some sort. He bumped into Cardin as Weinerchester scowl at him.

'Just what are you planning to do you braindead'

I turned back forward

Glynda: "Each of you is to gather one jar's worth of red sap. However, this forest is full of the creatures of Grimm, so be sure to stay by your teammates. We will rendezvous back here at four o'clock. Have fun" Yang and Ruby exchange a smile "Oh right. Mr. (L/N), you are banned from using your semblance here. We can't risk a forest fire, can we?"

'I heard stories from my mom that dad once accidentally set Beacon on fire, seems like Glynda really likes to drag that out'

(Y/N): "I didn't planned to use it here anyway, Professor Goodwitch" I looked back behind to see Jaune tried to get away from Cardin, but he failed

Cardin: "Come on, buddy, let's go!"

I noticed Pyrrha waiting for him, with a sad look on her face. I turned around and sighed. Then I addressed my team

(Y/N): "You heard our teach. Go grab a jar and let's go" We took a jar each and started walking deeper into the forest

*small timeskip*

My Team, Team RWBY and Team JNPR minus Jaune went as a group. I was filling my jar when I heard as someone was licking something with too much energy than it's needed. I turned around to see Nora holding an empty jar while Ren stares at her disappointingly. She giggled at him while rubbing her head in embarrassment. I chuckled

(Y/N): "Oi. Nora. Try not to eat other jars, okay?"

Nora: "No promises (Y/N)"  she sung before I smiled and shake my head.

'These two would be a good couple...' Then my mind went back to what happened, and I again feel those butterflies in my stomach 'Stop it brain. Now it's not the time for thinking about Ruby' Then I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see Yang

(Y/N): "Hey Yang. What's yanging?" I joked around as she laughed

Yang: "Nothing much. I need to speak with you (Y/N). In private"

'I know where this is going'

(Y/N): "Sure" she dragged me deeper into the forest, so no one would hear us

Yang: "Let me get straight to the point. Who is Ruby to you?"

'I knew it'

(Y/N): "Well, she is my friend, one of the best if you want me to be honest. She is cute, brave, knows how to have fun. She may be a little socially awkward, but that only adds up to her cuteness"

 Yang: "So...?"

(Y/N): "She told you about yesterday, didn't she?" she nodded "*sigh* You know Yang, if you want to kill me, please do it quick"

Yang: "What? No. I just want to know"

(Y/N): "Know what?"

Yang: "Do you love Ruby?" 

(Y/N): "To be fair Yang, till yesterday I only assumed it was a small crush. But after we nearly kissed, that made it clear to me...*I smiled* I love Ruby. I guess now I'll die?" instead of killing me, Yang hugged me tightly with sparkly eyes

Yang: "This is amazing! You two are perfect for each other! I was getting impatient and I was gonna ask Ryze to help me set you two up! I can't wait to see a cute couple you and her will be!" I blushed

(Y/N): "Thanks Yang. It's nice to have your support"

Yang: "No problem, although" She darkened her expression "I saw what you can do so I know, but I want you to promise me one thing"

(Y/N): "Sure"

Yang: "When you and Ruby get together, promise me that you will take care of her and protect her" I looked her straight in the eyes and put my hand over my heart

(Y/N): "Yang Xiao Long, I swear on my name and my father's grave, I will take care of Ruby and protect her till I'm walking on this planet's surface" her expression returned to normal

Yang: "Good, I'm now sure you will. Let's get back to the rest of our group"

We walked back to our group. Yang get back to her team and I get back to mine

Ryze: "Seems like my love gave you the talk, huh?"

(Y/N): "Yeah, she wanted me to promise to her that I will protect Ruby when we get together"

Ryze: "Listen, Yang is very protective of Ruby. I know you will protect her, she knows you will protect her, but Yang wanted to be sure. On what you swore?"

(Y/N): "My name and my father's grave"

Ryze: "Wow, that serious?" I nodded "You must really love Ruby then"

(Y/N): "Yeah, I do" We continued to do our assignments "Anything interesting happened when we were gone?"

Sam: "Cardin wanted Jaune to throw a sap jar at Pyrrha. I assume if you were here you'd be their second target"

(Y/N): "That motherfucking little... I will castrate him... Mako, get ready, some arms are gonna be broken..."

Mako: "Aye, captain!" he saluted. Then we heard a roar

Ruby: "Did you guys hear that?" we then saw 3/4 of team CRDL running away

Russel: "Ursa! Ursa!" he bumps into Yang as she grabs him

Yang: "What?! Where?!" Russel pointed to from where they were running

Russel: "Back there! It's got Cardin!" Pyrrha dropped her jar

Pyrrha: "Jaune!" I instantly got to leader mode, Ruby did too

Ruby: "Yang! You and Blake go get Professor Goodwitch"

(Y/N): "Ryze! Mako! You two go with them! We don't know if there are any more Ursa around here!"

Pyrha: "Nora! Ren! You two go too! (Y/N) is right! There could be more" Me, Ruby, Pyrrha, Weiss and Sam get our weapons ready. We rushed towards where team CRDL was fleeing from. We get there just in time to see Cardin crawling away from the Ursa

Pyrrha: "Oh, no!" As Ursa was about to hit Cardin, Jaune comes before him and blocks Ursa's paw with his shield. Weiss ready her Myrtenaster and Pyrrha stops her "Wait" We looked back to the fray to see.. Jaune was kinda doing good against this Ursa. It went to swing it's paw at Jaune but he easily rolled away. Second attack Jaune just jumps over. However, three times the charm and with third attack Ursa send Jaune flying past Cardin. However he quickly recovers and rush Ursa again, only again to be swapped aside. Both Grimm and our blonde friend rushed each other. Just as they were about to clash I saw Jaune's shield was too low. Pyrrha seemed to see it too as she lifts her hand, and used her semblance to correct it. It does and Jaune successfully blocks the paw, swings his sword upwards beheading the Grimm with one fluid motion. Pyrrha deactivates her semblance as Ruby and Weiss look amazed. I meanwhile was proud out of Jaune. Not only because he stood against Cardin, but because he finally found his starting point to become a hero he want to be

(Y/N): "They are growing so fast..." I said under my nose so no one can hear me

Ruby: "Uh, what"

Weiss: "How did you...?"

Pyrrha: "Well, Ruby has her speed, (Y/N) has his fire, Sam has his vines and you have your glyphs. My semblance is polarity"

Ruby: "Ah, you can control poles..." she said quietly. I can't help but laugh a little

Weiss: "No, you dunce! It means she has control over magnetism!"

Ruby: "Magnets are cool, too" I messed her hair

(Y/N): "They sure are Ruby. And Weiss, what about magnetic poles? Ruby was close with her first answer"

Ruby: "Yeah... I completely mean magnetic poles and not some other type of... poles!" I laughed a little more as Pyrrha starts walking away

Weiss: "Wait, where are you going?"

Ruby: "Yeah, we gotta tell them what happened"

Pyrrha: "We could"

(Y/N): "Or maybe we can keep it to ourselves" Pyrrha smiled at me, nodded and continued to walk away. Me and Sam stayed behind with Ruby and Weiss to see bruised and beaten Jaune walking towards Cardin, offering him his hand. Cardin accept and Jaune helps him up

Cardin: "Holy crap, Jaune?"

Jaune: "Don't ever mess with my team, my... friends ever again Got it?" Cardin seemed shocked at Jaune's words. He meanwhile turned around and started to walk away. Girls also walk away, leaving me and Sam with Cardin. He sees us and his face expression turned to fear

(Y/N): "We told you something, didn't we?"

Sam: "Bully anyone again, and we will finish what we started"

(Y/N): "I keep my words. Your team deserves nothing to be called Huntsman. You've never been one before. You are not one now and you for sure will not become one in the future. You may have strength, you may have skill, but if I had to choose who is a better Huntsman in training, between you and Jaune, I would choose Jaune all the way. He have something you and your team is lacking, a resolve to fight for what he believes is right and not for any personal gains or to bully someone"

Cardin: "I..."

(Y/N): "If you want to say you're sorry then don't, because it would not be sincere. Apologize with your actions. Rethink your behavior Winchester, and maybe then I will change my opinion on you" Me and Sam walked back to the bullhead

*timeskip, night*

Me and my team are sitting in our room

Sam: "You think that after your words Cardin will change?"

(Y/N): "No. And seriously I don't care. For me he and his team can quit Beacon right now. This world doesn't need Huntsman like them" then we heard a knock on the door. Ryze get up and opened them and we see Pyrrha

Pyrrha: "Hey Ryze, is (Y/N) here?"

Ryze: "Hey Pyrrha, yeah he is. (L/N)! Pyrrha wants to see you!" he shouted at me

(Y/N): "Geez, I'm lying about four meters from you. No need to shout" I walked to the door "Hey Pyrrha, what's up?"

Pyrrha: "I need you to come with me"

(Y/N): "Why?"

Pyrrha: "We will need to talk with Jaune" I nodded "So get your uniform on and follow me" 

I put my clothes on and followed Pyrrha to the roof. On it we saw Jaune standing near the edge, enjoying the view of Vale in the night. Pyrrha walks up to him

Pyrrha: "No Cardin tonight? I thought you two were best buds?" Jaune turns to us

Jaune: "Pyrrha... (Y/N)... I'm sorry. I was a jerk. You two were only trying to be nice and... I had all this stupid macho stuff in my head..."

(Y/N): "As long as you get it out it's alright"

Pyrrha: "Jaune! It's okay. Your team really misses their leader, you know. You should come down! Ren made pancakes! No syrup, though, you can thank Nora for that! Come on (Y/N), let's go"

(Y/N): "Can I get my team with me?"

Pyrrha: "Of course. The more the merrier"

(Y/N): "Sweet" we started to walk back inside

Jaune: "Wait!" we turned around "I know I don't deserve it after all that happened, but... would you guys still be willing to help me... to help me become a better fighter" 

Pyrrha and I exchange a satisfied smile. She walks to Jaune and pushed him to the ground

Jaune: "Hey!"

Pyrrha: "Your stance is all wrong. You need to be wider and lower to the ground" He didn't noticed me as he dodge my punch by nanoseconds

(Y/N): "Second thing, always expect the unexpected" Pyrrha walks to him and helps him up

Pyrrha: "I think we will start with his stance (Y/N). Let's try that again"

I turned away from them and looked up in the night sky with a smile as a single star was falling down
