Chapter 3

Continuing the Story
Project Apparition in You Can Hide Beside Me
⁃    This chapter contains elements and an OC from my newest story Project Apparition. It is not necessary to read unless you want to understand the code the OC uses better.

"Ezra focus. You're not focusing." Kanan said as Ezra stood on his head, on the roof of the Ghost.
It was a form of levitation training they were working on. The only other one up there with them was Chopper.
"I'm trying." Ezra struggled to say back.
"Do or do not." Kanan remind him.
"I still don't understand that." The boy remarked.
"Why don't we work on something you do understand then?" Kanan replied.
"Like what?"
Kanan unhooked his lightsaber.
"But I still don't have a lightsaber yet. We don't even have practice sabers or remotes anymore." Ezra stated.
"You can borrow mine for now." Kanan said.
Then he looked at Chopper and a box of empty milk cartons. "I think Chopper and these milk cartons can sub for the remote."
"Well I'm sure Luke and Leia would be shocked if they saw us training like this." Ezra said with a smile.
Ezra's smile broke after realizing what he had just said. Kanan handed him the lightsaber. Ezra reluctantly took it.
Holding it in his hands again brought up some old memories. Like the first time he had met Caleb Dume, and how he had stolen the lightsaber. Luke and Leia had been there with him. They had told Caleb where he was. The two had gotten into just as much trouble as he had back at the temple. They covered for each other, and got into trouble together a lot. He missed the two of them almost as much as he had missed Caleb once he was back on Lothal.
A milk carton went past him. He activated the blue blade. Ezra hit a few cartoons, but he was still thinking about his friends. Lost in his own memories of them, he was paying little attention to what he was doing.
"Ezra, pay attention!" Kanan called out.
"Sorry Caleb..." Ezra replied just as one of the cartons hit him in the chest.
The impact through him off balance, and he fell backwards off the Ghost. The lightsaber fell out of his hand and deactivated as it hit the Ghost.
"Ezra!" Kanan screamed as his Padawan fell. Quickly he comm Hera and Zeb, and called for his lightsaber.
"Hera, Ezra fell. Have Zeb met me at the ramp."
"Why exactly is Ezra waving to me as he's slipping off the windshield of the nose gunner?" Sabine asked.
"I'll explain later. Just have everything ready I'm going to pull him back up." The Jedi responded as he ran back in.
"I'm on my way boss." Zeb said.
"I'm lowering the ship." Hera replied.
Ezra was screaming as he fell. He was trying to remember what to do to reduce his speed and lessen the fall. He couldn't remember though. He wasn't even sure it would work at this high of a fall.
"I'M GOING TO DIE!" He screamed.
Just then he stopped falling and felt something pulling him back up. Ezra wiggled around a bit as if he was swimming up in midair. Shortly afterwards he saw the Ghost in front of him with its ramp open. Kanan stood at the edge with his eyes closed and one arm reaching out towards him. The other arm was clenched to the hinge of the ramp to prevent him from falling as well. Zeb was standing on the ramp as well with both hands free and reaching for Ezra.
"Zeb!" Kanan stressed as if he was struggling to hold whatever he was pulling to him.
Ezra realize that Kanan was pulling him up.
"Almost got him." Zeb replied.
Ezra grabbed Zeb's hands.
"Got him!" Zeb exclaimed.
Kanan let out a deep breath and Ezra stopped feeling the invisible force pulling him up.
Kanan walked over to where Zeb was holding on to the boy.
"Hold on Kid." Zeb said.
"I wasn't planning on letting go." Ezra replied.
Kanan grabbed ahold of Ezra's other arm and the two men pulled the boy up.
"I told you to focus." Kanan scolded.
"Kinda hard when you're falling to your death." Ezra snapped back.
"You wouldn't be falling to your death if you were focused." Kanan replied.
"Isn't it your job, Caleb to make sure I don't fall?" Ezra asked. "It's not like I fell intentionally."
"It's difficult to teach." Kanan replied.
"Exactly. It's not really easy on my side either." Ezra remarked.
Kanan turned around and headed back into the ship.
"He means it's difficult to teach you." Zeb said.
"Only because we don't have access to the proper equipment to teach me." Ezra replied.
The two then followed Kanan back into the ship.
"Ezra, come in here." Kanan said stopping at his door.
"Ok?" Ezra replied.
He continued to follow his master into his cabin.
Once the door closed behind the kid the room went silent. Kanan sat down on the bed and gestured for Ezra to sit next to him. It might have been forbidden in the temple to sit on the bed, but there wasn't really another place to sit in the room.
"You were more than unfocused and a little distracted weren't you?" Kanan said after a minute. "It wasn't Chopper that was distracting you when you fell though."
"No, it wasn't." Ezra replied
"It was memories from the temple, correct."
The boy nodded to confirm.
"Out of curiosity was when we met one of them?" Kanan asked.
"It was. Mostly memories that involved Luke and Leia though." Ezra replied.
"Something's bothering you. What is it?"
"Caleb, do you ever wonder what happened to the others?"
"They were murdered. You know that."
"Not what I meant. There was others that survived besides the two of us."
"What brought this up?"
"Luke and Leia Skywalker were among them."
"You're wondering about your friends? How did they survive, and where are they now?"
"As well as anyone else who survived."
A question popped into Kanan's head. One Caleb Dume probably would have asked about the twins last name. Skywalker was not a common sir name. There had to be some relation to Anakin. Kanan let the question slip through. Though it would explain why they survived. There was other possibilities as well.
"Kanan, Ezra get in here." Hera yelled from the other room.
The two Jedi jumped up and hurried into the common room. The holonet was on, and the others were all gathered around it. Hera pointed to the screen.
"The signal was just disrupted." She said.
"Gul Travis?" Kanan asked.
"More than likely. The other hasn't come on in years." Hera replied.
"Who's Gul Travis?" Ezra asked.
The signal messed up again.
"A senator that has been hacking into the holonet feed and giving us intel for some time now." Sabine answered.
Hera shushed them as a picture replaced the imperial logo.
"This is Senator in exile Gul Travis. The Empire has been holding Jedi Master Luminara Unduli in the Stigion system. As citizens of the empire we demand that she be given a fair trial." The broadcast said.
"Well there's part of an answer for you kid." Kanan whispered to Ezra.
"It's one answer." Ezra replied.
"So are we taking it?" Hera asked.
"There were roomers she survived, but they never came with a location before." Kanan said.
"We can't just let the empire keep her prisoner. They'll kill her eventually." Ezra said.
"Knowing where another Jedi is to ask for advice could be beneficial." Kanan said.
"I'll contact Celina & Fulcrum. I'm sure Project Apparition will find a safe place for her." Hera replied.
"Celina? Like the Celina?" Sabine asked.
"The very same. She uses her fame as a cover to collect Jedi artifacts for Maz Kanata, and hides survivors." Hera explained.
"She's also one of our contacts." Kanan said. "It would be a good opportunity to finally introduce her to Ezra."
"We get to meet Celina?" Sabine asked.
"Only because we're part of the operation." The twi lek replied. She turned to Kanan. "I'll set the corse, and let them know what we're doing."

Sabine had pulled up the schematics for Stigion Prime during the briefing. Kanan developed a plan. Hera had contacted everyone she needed to.
Now they were headed in.
