Starting to Match

Just as Sophie was going to ask someone, Grady burst into the room. His eyes landed on Keefe and Fitz. "Sophie... I need you to help with the animals, and it can't wait. Maybe your friends can come back later."

Sophie looked sympathetically at them and they gave her a more extreme version of it, thinking she was going to have brush Verdi's teeth. All of her friends, obviously excluding Keefe and Fitz, gave her a half hug to say good-bye. They walked out the door and held their home crystals up to the light, one-bye-one glittering away.

"You said that to get rid of Fitz and Keefe, didn't you?"

"Yep. I used to like Fitz, but after what he did to you... Looks like we have a That Boy and This Boy."

"Dad..."

"You can call Dex and Biana back over if you want."

"Okay..."

Sophie grabbed her imparter and Biana said she'd be back as soon as she could sneak away from Fitz. When she called Dex, he said that he had been home just long enough to get stuck babysitting the triplets while his parents were doing anything except watching their kids. Ten minutes later, Sophie hung up and flopped on her bed. She scooted back until she started to fall off her bed. Then, she scooted back more and rested her head on the ground with her body still on the bed. Sophie's eyes landed on the Match Making packet that Biana had brought in earlier.

It wasn't nearly as big as it seems. The first half of the paper block was instructions and an example. Stupid elves. Who needs an example 200 pages long? There were about five questions per page, so that was a lot. Sophie started and got through ten pages about preferences when there was a knock at the door.

"You started without me?!" Biana screeched, bounding over. She stopped and peeked over Sophie's shoulder to see what she was writing. "You like teal eyes, blonde hair, and dark, long eyelashes. That sounds like a blend of Fitz and Keefe."

Sophie sighed. "I sure hope it isn't. I cannot take anymore drama by liking people in our friend group. If they weren't on my match list, that would be perfect."

Biana laughed. "I could just imagine the competition they would make your Winnowing Gala."

"Oh, gosh no." Sophie buried her head in her hands, but laughed slightly.

"Well, I gotta catch up, so don't continue." Biana took a stool and pulled it over to Sophie. She then ripped off the first half of her packet and started filling her answers. By the time she caught up to Sophie, Sophie noticed that she liked exotic black hair, silver-blue eyes, and dimples...
