Rest in Peace

This beginning was sent to me by MayceeMouse and was the thing that gave me the idea for this book.

Feel free to comment your own story beginning, or send it to me by direct message.

She wrote:

"A cute(ish) girl falls off the river-bank and is caught by a gorgeous, muscular supermodel type of guy, while the sun sets behind them dramatically... They fall insanely in love and she asks him to take her far away, but being an honorable man, he refuses and insists on getting her family's blessing and asking her father for her hand. However since her family is affluent and from the créme-de-la-créme of society, they refuse as he's..."

As this was a very clichè-like story, I decided to try and make it as anti-clichè as possible. I continued it like this:

..., they refuse as he's the ghost of her mother's long deceased brother. He was killed by a dagger in their own father's hand.

He had declined the marriage to a princess from an overseas country, which lead to the great war. His father was held responsible for the outbreak of the war and planned to murder his son, as he disgraced the family.

After stabbing him and throwing his body into the river, he organized a forced marriage for his daughter and the prince of the opposing country, in order to bring back peace and grace to his family.

His daughter, the mother of the cute(ish) girl from our story, has lived a very sad life, as she was forced to stay with the man who had raped her many times. All these years her brother's ghost had been wandering around between life and death, not willing to let go of life before saving his sister.

As time passed, his memories faded, and he had not only forgotten the reason for his existence, but also his own whereabouts.

Only when his sister called him by his true name he remembered. He remembered his name, his life, his death and also his duty.

He turned to his niece, who was also the love of his life, and apologized, before sprinting to her father and stabbing him with the dagger he was stabbed with many years ago.

His sister looked at her dead husband, and felt relief. She hugged the ghost of her brother, who was fading aways as he had finished his task. He could finally rest in peace, and his sister could finally live her life freely.
