Welcome to this month's PoetryIN writing challenge. This month's contest involves a style of poems closer to home, the Triveni.

This style of poetry originated in India, created by the legendary writer/lyricist Gulzar. It consists of three hemistichs (half of a line or verse), where the first two are complete in itself but the third adds another dimension.

An example by the legend Gulzar is,

ज़ुल्फ़ में यूँ चमक रही है बूँद
जैसे बेरी में तनहा एक जुगनू
क्या बुरा है जो छत टपकती है

Since we will be focusing on English Trivenis we enlisted the help of our Triveni maestro ashutoshmoru to show us an English example of the same.

Champagne flutes, plates piled high, guts stuffed full,
Conversations being held over a lavish dinner,
As the waiters run around with empty stomachs.
